Lumpy drove my other half and I to Elk Garden to drop off our car, then drove us to Fox Creek where he suggested we start our AT Hike. He was genuinely kind and entertained us with his stories and information of the AT. Anyone in need of a shuttle, Lumpy is your man! We couldn’t have had a better experience :)

If you haven't been to Mt. Rogers Outfitters yet, GO!!! Lumpy is not only a super genuine, nice guy, he also has anything you may need in regards to the great outdoors. If you are looking to hike the trails or just need a little extra stability to walk around town, he has you covered.

Best outfitter I've ever been to. I had a fantastic time, great guy, knowledgeable and happy to share info and easy going atmosphere. We came to see ULA bags as we hadn't seen them in person before, and they had the two we were curious about (Circuit and Catalyst).My husband and I were fitted and we found out we're different sizes than what REI had told us. When we tried on the new bag sizes, they fit perfectly and felt so much more comfortable than our current bag sizes. If I could, I would give much higher than 5, I will absolutely come back for resupplies on trail next year. Would very strongly recommend!

We loved this place! Lumpy is super helpful. He helped our daughters get their backpacks adjusted properly so they fit perfectly and then one of our daughters bought a new pack based on his sizing and recommendation. She loves her new pack! He helped my husband get into proper shoes. We had various gear needs that he met well. He also provided rides to and from the trail for us. If we are ever within 100 miles of Damascus we will stop by just to do business with Mt. Rogers Outfitters.

Great outfitter! Well stocked and great prices. Lumpy is one of the coolest people you can meet along the trail. They got me supplied, got the weight down on my bag, and even showed me around town. Love this place!

Great place! Huge through hiker style inventory. Customer service through the roof! They try to play like they're hardened ZZ top backwoods crazy folk, but they're really a bunch of softies. I mean that as a compliment! Good place!

Super outfitters store. Very well stocked with all sorts of gear and necessary items. Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Answered our questions with lots of additional information. Left with a ULA lightweight backpack and a smile on my face. Highly recommended even if you need to spend a couple of hours getting there.

This IS the outfitter to visit in town. Very knowledgeable and genuine cool dude (Lumpy). A rare kind soul. Shop had Tyvek by the roll and cut to which ever size you may need. Huge selection of Oboz hiking boots, and the prices were comparable to online if not better! Also fairly large selection of dehydrated meals. The hand warmers came in handy as the wind chill was in the teens. Will definitely be back!

They have a bit of everything you need while you are out in the wild! Drove up, forgetting my socks. No problem, they had plenty to choose from.The guy manning the counter was nice, but not hoovering - I think he realised I knew what I was looking for.Thanks for being awesome!

First visit here and walked out with exactly what I wondered in for... A new pair of Oboz Firebrand II Hiking Shoes. Sized and measured my feet, fitted, and tried on many types then found the size and pair I needed and wanted hiding on the shelf. During my time there, we talked about this, that, and everything. I enjoyed my visit and the staff's time and efforts. I looked around the store and they have every brand that I like to use for my hiking adventures... Osprey packs, Columbia Clothing, Farm to Feet Hiking Socks, and if they do great... Oboz Hiking Shoes. I plan on returning with friends and using this as my adventure go to store! My Rogers Outfitters (Lumpy) was EXCEPTIONAL for our group of 8 in July 2020. Shuttled all 8 of us and our gear 40 miles up trail and the price was only $65. Then when we needed to come off trail earlier than expected, one call to Lumpy and we were set with an unscheduled shuttle ride and Lumpy arrived right on time with a very fair price! Will absolutely use Mt Rogers Outfitters in the future!

Large selection of equipment for biking, hiking, backpacking, and camping. Cheap and competitive prices for surrounding outfitters. Only place I found to sell Ruffwear products -- hiking and camping gear for dogs. This seems to be a hang-out spot for older bikers and hikers along the trail and made it a cool place for conversation.
