I had an amazing stay. The room was very clean and had a full tub which was amazing for me to be able to soak the soreness out of my hiker legs. The lady running the inn was super nice, she allowed me to trade a book out of her library there in the inn to take with me back onto the trail. They also allowed me to take their bike to the store to resupply which was pretty awesome. If you're thruhiking, I would recommend a stay.

Our stay at the Damascus Dancing Bear Inn was a cozy and memorable experience. The inn's warm ambiance and comfortable accommodations provided a perfect retreat after a day of adventure at the Doe Mountain recreation area. The rustic charm of the inn added to the overall experience, making it a great place to relax and unwind. Whether enjoying a hearty meal at a nearby restaurant or simply lounging in the inn's inviting common areas, our stay was undoubtedly a delightful and enjoyable one.

We stayed at The Dancing Bear in October during a quick overnight bike ride on the Creeper Trail and were pleased with the Dancing Bear Inn. The house was very clean, our host was accommodating and you couldn’t beat the location. It is in within walking distance of almost everything thing Damascus has to offer and I would recommend it to anyone traveling through Damascus. I plan on staying there again!

We stayed in the Papa Bear room, and really enjoyed it. The room was clean and warm. Beds were "just right", and had a very warm comforter. Sink in the kitchenette had a tall faucet, perfect for filling containers for the trail. Bathroom was clean and the shower was tiled with river rock, which felt great after a long day hiking. The bathroom also had towels specifically for cleaning muddy gear!Elizabeth was great to talk to, and very accommodating of special requests.Ask about shuttle rates, they had the best!

My family has stayed at The Dancing Bear Inn for the past two years before riding the creeper trail. The room we stay in is always extremely clean. There is signage throughout the room showing additional information of things you may need to know or how to get what you may need. Check in is very easy and quick. You are also in walking distance to most anything in the area. We love staying here and this is out go to spot when we know we are headed to Damascus.

What a lovely stay! Myself, my daughter, and my mother stayed for a night on our way to Natural Bridge. The house in located right on the main drag going through town and is very walkable. The old country house was very comfortable and everyone slept well. In the morning we all got our caffeine fix and a snack on our way out. Elizabeth was a wonderful, thoughtful host and even took the time to give me a call when she noticed my daughter had forgotten her Nintendo Switch controller, and offered to mail it back to us. Thank you for a lovely stay!

This lovingly-preserved, yet tastefully up-to-date house was built in the early 1900s. It was a charming retro-visit, with all of the modern-day comforts. The hosts were the perfect balance of friendliness and availability without any hovering. The cats were a delightful!Rooms: The architecture and decor were from a time gone by, yet tastefully up to date! Truely enjoyable space!Nearby activities: Close to the Creeper Trail, the App Trail and one other trail, for off-roaders.Safety: Quiet and quaint little community. To us, it seemed perfectly safe and comfortable for an evening walk.Food & drinks: While the hosts don't provide a prepared breakfast, they provide an abundant array of coffee, tea, oatmeal packs and other snacky (trail-type) treats. There is a spacious furnished dining room with plates, bowls, cups, glasses, flatware, a small, shared fridge, a microwave and a sink to allow carry-in of food from the grocery or a restaurant. So, there is abundant opportunity to eat "at home", if you'd like.Noteworthy details: At one point, I saw what seemed like about 24 ducks running in a row across the back lawn. As I looked, I was delighted to see so many different types! It looked like they were having a good old time together. Very fun!

Elizabeth and Pat run a great guest house! They are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the area. They are conveniently located for the Appalachian hiking trail, as well as the MABDR motorcycle route. The rooms are comfortable, some more spacious than others. No complaints there! And there are wild ducks, rabbits, and other cute critters in the area. Highly recommend!Walkability: It is a small town, and they are close to everything. Short walk to diners, pubs, parks. The Appalachian Hiking trail runs right be here, and they are quite busy with hikers. They even have a free equipment exchange.Noteworthy details: Pat operates a mechanics shop on site. Can work on bicycles as well as motorcycles. He installed new tires on my Triumph Tiger and my buddies BMW GS before we started the BDR. And he even helped us drink our beer! ;-)

Just such a lovely, cozy place. We stayed here last year and just couldn’t resist coming back. We so enjoyed the quaint outdoor patio, with lovely lights and fountain. Hiking in the area is tremendous! Great shops and restaurants within a block or 2. Elizabeth is so nice and accommodating. Just can’t say enough good things.Rooms: The rooms are spacious and so quaint. Kitchen has everything we needed, and nice extras.Nearby activities: So much to do in the area. We hiked a different trail every day. Endless opportunities to enjoy amazing scenic surroundings.

We stayed at The Dancing Bear Inn in Damascus while hiking the AT. The place was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Elizabeth, the owner of the Inn, was extremely helpful and very easy to communicate with. She shuttled us from the Inn to Grayson Highland for the start of our hike. After hiking a few days we had a situation and had to get off the trail. We were able to reach out to her and she picked us up and accommodated us for our new night stay at the Inn.I would highly recommend staying here!!

My daughter and I had a great time at the Dancing Bear, we stayed in the Rose room. Elizabeth was very hospitable and recommended several restaurants for us to try out during our stay. We left a couple of items in the room and Elizabeth was very gracious and mailed them back to us. Next time in Damascus we’ll be back at the Dancing Bear!

Clean, friendly, and nice hosts. I love the themed rooms! I was in the Duck room. They even have a fan in the room for white noise. And a kettle in the kitchen so I was able to have my tea.Plenty of coffee choices! The hosts definitely understand hiker needs. If I get the opportunity to stay in Damascus on my next hike, this is the place I will choose.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in the very comfortable, quiet Sister Bear suite at the Dancing Bear. Elizabeth, the proprietor welcomed us and made certain we’re were comfortable and knew how to access more information about the area. We came to Damascus specifically to bike the Virginia Creeper Trail. Staying at the Dancing Bear allowed us to easily bike over to the trail for our rides and to walk to dinner in the evening.

Lovely place to stay. We picked it because of the electric car charger available to guests but will stay here the next time we are in the area because of the care and attention the hosts provided. It was very rainy during our stay and they made sure to have extra towels available for us when we returned from the Virginia Creeper Trial soaking wet. Our daughter left behind a special blanket and they mailed it to us. The Mamma Bear suite was clean and well stocked. Cannot recommend enough.
