Stayed in the White House across the street from the inn, on the first floor. It was clean, beautiful, and recently updated. The gorgeous fireplace and Victorian furnishings made it feel like we were stepping back in time. They use real room keys, so be sure to keep up with them. The rooms in the White House are much nicer than the ones at the Mill. Their website isn't clear about it when booking, so if the room number is 401-404, that is in the White House. We were surprised at check in, but when we saw the room we were pleasantly surprised. It's a block away from the main street, which has plenty of restaurants, bike shops, and some outfitter stores. Check out the visitors center, they have some cool displays and information about the area, nice folks. We rented from Blue Blazes bike shop which is a stones throw from the mill for a bike trip down the creeper, so it's a perfect location for that. The Farmers Market is right next door. The staff was helpful and friendly, the mill back porch is a relaxed place to have a meal. The bartender was also our waitress - her cocktails are AMAZING! One thing to watch out for is how expensive it is. The food was good, we got the dip trio and tomato caprese. Beware that if you order your drink as a double shot, the price of that drink will double, not an upcharge like normal places. For 2 drinks, 2 beers, and 2 appetizers, our bill for 2 people was almost $100 before tip. That's just crazy. It's a cool place, but not worth that price. (-1 star)The breakfast bar was well done. Freshly scrambled eggs, biscuits with gravy, waffle maker, berry mix, lots of other quick choices and beverages. We found the best seat in the house and enjoyed watching the fish and ducks while we ate. Overall, a great place to stay if you are in Damascus overnight.

The restaurant was lovely wood very clean and new looking. We were seated right away with a view of the mill dam and ducks and geese. We had chicken waffles and brownie with ice cream which were delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The prices were not high. Great experience.Food & drinks: Read my review above.

The surrounding area is beautiful and well maintained. I would love to say I enjoyed the restaurant, but from the minute we walked in the hostess treated us like we were unwanted. I asked for a table on the deck,(that overlooked the waterfall) and I was told that it was reserved. Now keep in mind that there were probably 2 dozen empty tables. After we were seated inside, I noticed a couple come in and without a word, she seated them on the deck. Then a family came in and she ushered them straight to an indoor table. That's when it hit me. If you have children, you ain't sitting on that deck.As for the rest of the service from the waitress. She was fantastic. As for the food and drinks. They were way overpriced for the quantity.

Didn't stay at the hotel BUT GOOD LORD THE FOOD HERE WAS GOOD!! Deep fried ribs here are hands down the best thing you will ever put in your mouth. They gave us a choice to be seated inside or outside we chose outside and they gave us the table with the best view. The staff were so friendly. We had 4 people in out party and we all got different things and everyone was happy with what they got. And honestly the pricing was reasonable. I will be back. If the staff reads this I want to say thank you your food and service is top notch!

I did not stay in the Inn, we went to the restaurant. The hostess was very nice and made sure she granted my request for outside seating. She gave us the best seats by the waterfall. Nikita, our service person, was great, very attentive, and super nice. The food was delicious. We had a very nice experience.Food & drinks: Great food

The restaurant was phenomenal. Our served answered our questions and the atmosphere was so fitting to the area it all felt homey. It’s right on a waterfall/dam so you can eat while hearing and seeing the water and there are ducks. there’s a farmers market right outside but I don’t know when it’s open. It’s in the perfect area walking distance within everything in that town. Perfect

Had our wedding there and all I can say is omg. I was speechless with how amazing Erica and Phillip was. We could not have pulled this off with out them. Erica stepped on and helped loads with the wedding and making sure everything went off with a bang. The staff there all was so kind and inviting. Food was great and the room for the bride was just perfect with everything we needed. So if you have an event of any kind go speak to the Old Mill.

We stayed at the inn for our anniversary and had a great time! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate dinner and breakfast there, and the food was great! And we loved the view of the little waterfall from the back deck area. It’s also just a few minutes walk to downtown Damascus.

I never write reviews but this was earned. I called ahead to verify restaurant hours and arrived 30 min after it opened on Friday and was turned away because they had just seated a group of twenty and could not serve more customers. Btw, the had lots of available seating inside and out. Too bad for me after a 90 minute drive. I will not be back.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could. After a number of both self incurred difficulties as well as circumstances beyond our control with multiple Airbnbs, we arrived in town with nowhere to stay. Tired and ready for a place to settle we found the Old Mill based on a Google search. We booked an available room and were just happy to have it settled. What we got when we arrived exceeded all expectations and was better than anything we had booked previously for this weekend. They recently added rooms via a Victorian home next to the mill and it was perfect. Every single staff member was friendly and most importantly, genuine. They made sure we had everything we needed. The bourbon selection was an added bonus. The continental breakfast was exactly what we needed before a long day of biking and adventure. Forget the Airbnbs in the area, this will be our place for all return trips to Damascus.Rooms: The victorian rooms are small but have everything we needed. A king sized bed, a full bathroom, and a small seating area. They have wifi throughout the property.Walkability: A block off the main street, easy to walk through town to outfitters shops, and coffee.Food & drinks: The food was above our expectations for a small trail town and the bourbon selection was top notch as well as draft beer.

My wife and I stayed in one of the two room with the private balcony overlooking the river. That was awesome. The building and grounds is maintained well and has lots of character and is within a short walk to bike shops and the Virginia Creeper trail. The room was very quiet and clean. The king size bed was very comfortable. The Jacuzzi was very nice after a long day riding. The building is old but the room was up to date. The internet speed is decent but is not encrypted, which is not ideal. The staff was friendly and eager to please. We stayed there out of season so the restaurant was closed.I only have two complaints. 1. The price. We stayed there in the off season and payed $250.00 a night. We had never stayed there before and expected more. As I mentioned above, the room was nice but not worth that price. 2. The breakfast. For the price we paid, I expected a full breakfast. The self-serve breakfast bar was pretty paltry for that price point. It was similar to what you would get at an economy hotel chain.Maybe breakfast is better during the tourist season when the restaurant us open.Overall, even though I enjoyed my stay, I am not sure I would stay there again at that price.

They delivered for a memorable Mother’s Day dinner. It overlooks a stream & waterfall with ducks & egrets. The decor is rustic and the staff is very friendly. The food was incredibly good. The oysters Rockefeller were the best I’ve ever eaten. We both had trout that was cooked to perfection, and the servings were generous. A memorable meal.

This place is amazing! Great food. Superb view of the river. Lovely atmosphere. We had a good variety of food. Pictured here is the Warm Kale Salad with a bacon vinaigrette, huge burgers and homemade fries and their Dagwood grilled cheese with five cheese blend, Turkey and ham. Their homemade sweet potato chips were tasty but not too crunchy. We sat on the deck outside and loved the Autumn view.

The location was very close to backbone rock. The amenities are very nice and the selection at the resturaunt for food and drinks was nice. The rooms were very up to date and nicely climate controlled. The balcony view of the mill waterfall was stunning and very relaxing first thing in the morning. Well stocked complementary toiletries and coffee and teas along with a keirug in the room and a small refrigerator.

We had a great dinner on the dam view deck! Great service too!Watched a Great Blue Heron fish for his dinner and catch it several times as a pair of Canadian Geese watched! The swimmer came to the bank stripped to swim trunks and dove in the 55 degree trout stream which is only waist deep there.Later he waded out in a deep spot to a big rock and lay there in the sun to dry and sober up!
