We were here Monday through Thursday morning. We paid for the room. We wanted to extend it until Thursday afternoon when he got off the job. I told the guy behind the desk 118. He said I said 119. I didn't not. He book 119. Paid on the card. A little while later a man comes in and wants to extend his stay in 119. I asked is that he room. He said yes I have been here for a couple day. Why did they book me for that room when someone else was in it? He took our credit card from 118 to pay for the 119. He kept calling me a liar. He gave me room keys to 118. He called the room and told me I had to leave at 11. I told him I paid for that room. He said you said 119. I said no. He said to stop lying. So I had to sit in the lobby from 11-5. When that guy left at 3 and the other guy came in. I asked him why did he do that. Maybe he was confused. No not confused. Didn't know that he was doing. I complained about the sink and toilet clog up .they didn't care. No remote in the TV..Internet keep going off line..the hotel is dirty. The ice machine leaking water don't mop it up, just put a rug over it. Vending. Machine didn't work. No washers and dryers in the building. Puddles of water on the first floor hall ways. The hot water had to run a while before it got hot. The only good 2 things I got out of the trip. The first day we were there the Indian (?) girl was very nice and helpful. The other day is when I left. We won't becoming back. The pictures of the web site don't do justice. Oh. Out of all of this mess with the screw up rooms and throwing me out of the room. I brought my wife here for her birthday to visit Thomas Jefferson's house Monticello. The staff is friendly the rooms are clean so I thought. My wife has asthma. She started having breathing problems then I found out why. There is MOLD in the air conditioner. Unfortunately we have to stay one more night here cause we don't have the money to move to a different hotel. Very disappointed, There is also a vehicle in the parking lot with a towbar attached to it and full of trash .so i left the property and went to another hotel property to spend the night before heading back to NJ and i informed the person at the property that if my wife goes to the hospital i will be sending the hospital bill to the corporate office and i will be contacting the Virginia board of health and also the Virginia state fire marshalls office , plus the person at the desk was an ignorant person who laughed about the situation and my wife's health condition, very unprofessional on their account the place has NO SMOKING AND VAPING but the place reeks of smoke and vaping and what ever else is going on in the place.

I had a reservation at the Red Roof in Culpeper VA last Friday. We reserved 8 rooms non smoking rooms online and got to the hotel and were told 6 of them were smoking rooms. We spoke to the man working at the reception desk and he told us without a shadow of a doubt we COULD cancel the reservation because we DID NOT check-in. He told me to call the corporate number, who also told me I could have a refund. The next day, the receptionist told us we could not cancel the rooms and could not have a refund. The manager refused to come speak with me, hiding behind the phone of the person at the reception desk.This is completely unacceptable. If we were given the accurate information, we would have made a different decision. My group went on to buy 6 hotels at a different hotel and would not have done so if we were given the CORRECT INFORMATION by the receptionist. I don't know if this was a mistake or something more malicious, but their refusal to fix this surly points me in one direction.

this place is disgusting!! every room smells like straight cigarettes, even in the hallways. i also found a bedbug in my bed while i was laying down and i got bit many times which is still very itchy many days after!! i went to the front desk and the young boy asked if i had a picture like i was lying about the situation. he barely even cared that there were bedbugs. he acted like he didn’t want to give us another room but he did end up giving us one because my boyfriend was persistent. In the new room the TV didn’t work so now I wasn’t able to watch TV and was scared of bedbugs crawling on me. the new room he gave us was literally just a few doors down and i’m positive it had bedbugs too because of how close they were plus the room was still dirty from the person before. there was food pieces in the bathroom and the trash had things in it still. I’m not even sure when i got bit or if i got bit in both beds all I know is i will never go there again!!

Excellent location to stop off 29 North. We stayed for seven hours of sleep. It is and should only be used as a rest stop.The front staff is curious and professional. The hotel needs a bit of work. We stayed in room 218 and the toliet ran all night. The tub not properly cleaned, in appearance. The room was on the grungy side but for $69 for two to sleep, it was fine.For a few hours, it was great.Rooms: A bit dark and need proper cleaning.

This place is disgusting. If it hadn’t been 3 am when we arrived after a long trip, I would have cancelled. I am very disappointed in what my kids walked into. There was a homeless man sitting on the stairs which was very uninviting and uncomfortable. There were bugs in the bathroom. The lighting was very poor in the hallways, the bathtub was broken, it smelled like smoke and was a terrible experience. This place should be shut down and anyone who has booked there should cancel. I would love my $99 back but I doubt that will happen. It is a joke. It’s gross. Don’t book your stay at this hotel.

I would like to see this place fixed back into what it use to be. My husband and I came here for our honey moon in 2017 and this place had become my favorite place to get away . From then to now has changed tremendously. The fridge are missing legs so it's wobbly, I'm afraid to sit any food or drinks down because the case of the roaches are terrible I had to take it apon myself to get some spray. The man for house keeping doesn't speak English and does not have respect for people's stuff inside the room. When he came to sweep he swept up containers of my cats food with food in it and I had to replace it. It angered me to the point I had to pray about it. Other than that I still love this place, thanks to the English speaking Brothers at the front desk. They are truly the best examples of Excellent customer service. They treat people like they are humans not animals.

The five star reviews are definitely fake. I booked a room (non-smoking) and walked into a room smelling like a pack of cigarettes. The young kid working at the front desk didn't care and just told me he couldn't do anything but get me another room. I cancelled and got my refund. The photos they post are no where near what the hotel looks like. It's a hole in the wall. I understand it's cheap but it's like they don't even care. The shower was being held together by some makeshift wood setup. The ceiling in the bathroom wasn't finish and look like it was falling apart. It also had a horrible odor in the hallway. I rate it 0/10. Go somewhere else.

Stayed here with an advance reservation for four people and was initially given a single king bed room when I booked two doubles on Expedia that apparently wasn't actually available. When we got to the third floor with all our stuff (no elevator), there were dirty towels all over the bathroom floor, the bed was completely unmade, and the room hadn't been touched since the last occupants left (mind you this was at around 9 PM). When they assigned us another room, a double two bed like we originally requested and were told was not available, the shower was lukewarm at best over an approximate two hour period, and never got any hotter. Honestly I can't say enough bad about this particular Red Roof experience.

The non-smoking room I stayed in was actually nicer than I anticipated with laminate flooring instead of carpet, which I feel is more hygienic and the smarter choice for a room that's going to be lived in by many different people. Bathroom was clean and stocked. Very comfy king sized bed with clean bedding. AC worked well. Fridge and microwave were both clean and functional. My only complaint was my room had a peculiar smell, bordering on unpleasant. Didn't notice it after being in the room for a while, but was very assertive every time I left and came back into the room.I would stay again, but I would request a different room than the one I stayed in this time.

Comfy bed, clean room & linen. Hallway near smoke rooms smells smoky. Our smoke-free room had zero smoke scent. Windows are openable. I like the zero pet fee. Our medium sized dog was comfortable. Wouldn’t classify hotel as luxury, but offered the necessities of fridge, cable TV, and microwave. Staff were nice

Booked a non smoking room for one night for my son and myself. Once checked in got room key went to my room 219. Key card would not work , went back to desk , they boy redone the key card said it should work. Went back to the room, again key card would not work, went back to the desk. He handed me the master key said it should work. Went back to room. Still not working. Again to the front desk. Told me to go to room 214, master key worked but no housekeeping had been done 6:30pm. Again back to front desk, gave me room 114. Key card worked. The room was ok. Nothing to brag about. Did notice there was a stick holding the window closed. And you could smell cigarette smoke near the window. Maybe from people smoking just outside the room in the parking lot. To make the shower work you had to pull up hard in order for the shower to stay on. I did not see any bugs as others have reported, but the place could use some much needed maintenance.

I was there for a good length of time and I must say I never had one complaint about the staff, the cleanliness or anything. Having it pet friendly and allowed only one pet made it safe for the other animals. When you have more than one pet it becomes a hazard. They knew this and that's why I respect the fact that it was one pet per person on the premises. The staff are friendly and always corrected any problem right on the spot. It was safe and the walks late at night always made me feel safer. If you read any negative reviews more than likely it's because that person didn't obey the rules and got their panties in a knot. Because there's nothing wrong with Red Roof Inn in Culpeper. I would recommend the hotel to anyone day or night. Your stay there if only for one day or two months will be comfortable.

The front desk clear was a kind, helpful, and sweet high school aged seeming kid. That's where the good stuff stopped. Although I selected a non-smoking room, I was on the third floor of the hotel where the cigarette smoke smell (both fresh and stale) was completely pervasive, even in the room. There were actually people smoking in the hallway! In the room, the paint was peeling everywhere, and some folks staying in an adjacent room found roaches. Also, the refrigerator didn't work and there wasn't any option to repair or replace it. I actually had to leave and go to a neighboring hotel, because I had food to store for an event. Luckily, I was offered a refund. But it was one of the grosses hotels I've been in, and I'm not prissy and have never left a hotel before.

My husband and I just left this hotel this morning and I'm completely applauded by how rude and down right nasty the heavy set darked hair woman in the front was to us. I have to explain her physically because I don't recall her name but I'll never forget her attitude. My husband asked for some extra towels two hours before check out and I was already have way down the hallway and didn't here what see said. The cleaning cart was right outside our room so I picked up a couple towels and headeod inside our room to put out the dirty ones outside. This horrible woman calls down to our room moments later saying we have 5 mins to leave the room that we just paid for because of a simple misunderstandings, we inform her that we still have two hours before check out and we weren't ready then she says she's calling the cops. This kind of behavior is completely unnecessary and just rude!! The dirty towels were outside the room and it's your job to treat people with respect and make our experience/stay as pleasant as possible. Everyone else there were extremely nice but this woman should be fired and never get another job dealing with the public. I would definitely stay here again if I never encountered this individual and hopefully we will get our money refunded by the owner .

Would be a great hotel if it was ran by better management. Also needs to have maids that actually clean, clean the rooms properly because they definitely don't. The location is great. It's right next to restaurant and also other hotel options. 7-eleven right around the corner definitely in walking distance. Also Weis, a bank, domino's, dollar store, thrift store, hospital plus more in walking distance, maybe 10 minute walk to get to the store👍❤️Nearby activities: Not many options as far as nearby activities unfortunately. But the bus does come right in front of the hotel so you can get on that and go wherever you would like and catch a ride back by the bus.Walkability: The 7-eleven is right around the corner but also the grocery store, hospital, dollar store, Walgreens etc plus more.Food & drinks: The hotel right across the street has a great actual restaurant in it you can sit down and eat no matter where you are staying. You don't have to stay at that hotel to get a meal 😊Noteworthy details: Management when I was there wasn't the greatest and I also worked there and never received my paycheck 😤

DO NOT STAY HERE.For starters there are roaches. Everywhere. Especially at night. I raised this concern and they replied with "well this is a two star hotel." Which was really snarky and it was as if they already knew this problem existed. I left with bite marks going all the way down my back.I stayed one more night because they WOULD NOT give me a refund or switch my room even though I said there were roaches.I saw with my own eyes the housekeeper cleaning the tub with the same disgusting brush they cleaned with the toilet!!! This is by far the most trifling place I have ever stayed. And what makes it worst is they could care less. Save your money. Go somewhere else.

The room was covered in dirt and the refrigerator was spoiled and wouldn't work. Hair in bathroom tub and the furniture was falling apart. My TV didn't work nor did the AC. So I got moved to another room with no problem. Then hair in the tub and walls and furniture were covered in dirt. So I was tired and didn't have it in me to complain. So I brought cleaner and cleaned myself. Not sure if I would return.

The front desk staff was friendly, but we left at 3am because i woke up itching & found 3 bedbugs under me & tiny blood spots everywhere. Its been two days later and my children and I are covered in bites in which I had to miss work to make sure we weren't spreading them. The room seemed nice, but there are underlying issues that they just painted over or covered up. I was very disappointed. I was told I'll be refunded, I don't recommend staying here.

The place was absolutely disgusting. The rooms smelled like stale cigarettes and weed. There was weak spots and torn up flooring. There appeared to be snot or something on the walls. Hair in the bed and bugs everywhere. When I left this morning I saw a man climb out of a bottom floor window. No regards to the torn up screen. The only reason I gave it one star was so I could leave a review. Save your money folks

The only reason I can give this hotel 2 stars is because of the amazingly friendly front desk clerk. She was very kind and courteous. Other than that, you get what you pay for. Walked in to the strong smell of weed in the lobby and throughout the halls. Room was not clean at all. Bed linen was dirty with previous guests hair and dirt all over the bed, body grease covering the headboard, very uncomfortable bed, and broken light switches in the bathroom. To top off the night from 2am to 3 or 4am loud music can be heard from another guests "party" room on a Monday night. Thankfully the loud ac drowned it out a bit.This place could do wonders with a bit of housecleaning.
