Adopted the sweetest cat just yesterday from here. She's friendly and playful and loving and very well taken care of. The adoption process was so simple too. Absolutely recommend.

Came for a visit on Saturday as my partner and I were interested in getting a cat. The staff at the front desk were so kind, helpful and really cared about the animals they host. The cats at the facility had nice clean little shelters and we were welcome to stay and meet the cats for as long as we liked, which I really appreciated. I found a cat I absolutely fell in love with, named Lily and I got to take her home that very day. The facility gave me so many sheets with her medical records and told me the most they knew about her history, which I really appreciated. They also gave me vet and vaccine information, as well as some toys, treats and goodies to take home with my cat. The provided a box carrier to take her home in too. I am absolutely in love with Lily and I'm so happy to have her, she's already made my whole year. The adoption fee was also a very reasonable priced. Overall, this was an incredible experience and I couldn't recommend more checking out this place if you love animals ♡

Amazing place! The staff are so friendly and accommodating and they’re always willing to work with you to find your perfect pet. My partner and I have fostered for them several times and even adopted our cat after fostering her. Cannot say enough kind things about this place :)

I spontaneously adopted a little black kitten (despite my parents telling me it wasn't a good idea 🤣)

They were excellent from start to finish. Very compassionate and take their time with you. We are very grateful for them watching over our Pumba!

I was told to go ahead and go in and look at the cats. I had no clue where to go. It was my first visit. So I just followed others who had been there, I thought. I finally had to find a nice gentleman who told me where the adoptable cats were. They had been in there for several hours but waited until they opened to change the litter boxes so the smell of cat urine was so overwhelming that I just had to leave.

Good selection with great people... There are other animal centers but none that have the quality of staff as this center... Although we did not find an animal here, our visit was very pleasant and informative

They do such a great job here. Staff and volunteers are very helpful and the facilities are top notch. It's a shelter, so the animals are stressed, but they do an excellent job making them as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

I took some friends from Europe here so they could see what an American animal shelter was like, and of course they missed their animals at home, so it was good to snuggle some dogs and cats. They showed us back to the cats first and we're allowed to open the kennels one at a time and pet and play with them and sanitizer was present to wash our hands in between cats, though all that was left was scented stuff so it was quite overwhelming after a while. They were of course adorable and seemed well cared for, but it was a little sad to leave them all there. The cats had a big area to lay, a high area to jump to, and another darker room to escape to if they weren't in a social mood, which is quite thoughtful and kind for cats. Quite a number of people came back to check out the cats while we were there and we saw several cats and dogs being adopted.

I want to note before anything that I understand the shelter probably has a quota for how quick animals are adopted out, which I am sure is a consideration in the process of all of this, AND that from the little history they receive about animal when the come in they cannot always predict their future behavior or needs, and I don't fault them for this but just wanted to share this as a encouragement, in my opinion, for more proactive measures before sending animals home:)I just LOVE my sweet kitty Simmie I got from them. I am thankful for Montgomery County Animal Care for helping bring us together - but I will add I wish there were some medical measures taken before I took her home. While the adoption cost is low, once I got her I had to finish her vaccinations, microchip her, deworm, test for FIV & FeLV, and get a second surgery for her spay incision that wasn't fully healed. It had broken open on the one day of the week their vet staff is out of office (It is stated on the take home papers that day of the week the vet is not there which was stated ahead - no fault of theirs - and I appreciate they offer their own vet for reexamination after adoption) but she essentially had to have an emergency procedure to close to wound, I wish I was sent home with an E-Collar on her. This was my first pet adoption, so while it was stated up front that they don't offer those services prior to adopting out the animal, now that I have had her several months and understand this all a bit better, I would have been happy to pay a higher adoption fee that would have included the second round of vaccines, microchip, deworming (which she ended up needing), FIV/FeLV testing, and truthfully that she was kept just another few days so she would have been fully healed from her spay incision and would not have needed a second surgery the very next week. Her recovery from surgery should have been 7 days but it ended up being more like 3+ weeks and many vet visits.I fully recognize that some of this was unforeseeable on the shelter's part and there is a note in the contract I signed saying they shared all these know and aren't responsible for what happens on the other side of the adoption - but all of this to say I would have been happy to pay a $100/150/200 adoption fee upfront to have avoided, as a new pet parent, scrambling to figure it out myself once I was home and running to the vet constantly.

Absolutely love this place. The staff is so amazing and helpful! We had to surrender an elderly cat due to life circumstances and the staff here made the experience as painless as possible. We highly recommend them.

Their shelter is clean, and the staff are knowledgeable and very kind. It was $60 to adopt a cat. We left with one the same day.

This is the most horrible place!!! I have never had a good experience when i have came here, theyre suppose to be helpful and aupportive but its the complete opposite theyre the most rude hateful judgmental people i have ever met will never come here again. And the ONLY REASON i am giving them one star is because thats the only way i could get to the next step to voice my opinion

Wonderfully run place, very clean and animals are well cared for. You can really tell that they care. I got my first cat from here and they gave me lots of useful information about her. Adoption fee for my cat was 60 so not that expensive. Highly recommended.

These folks take good care of the animals and they care about what they're doing. If you like to adopt a pet, I couldn't think of a better place to do it!!

Didn't like the fact they wanted to put my 14 yr old pug to sleep when he wasn't in pain and a happy little dog we wanted to bury him on our property with some of his dad's ashes which he died a yr earlier and that was his baby he wanted him buried with a little piece of him !! They would rather have put him down and make us pay 300 for his body! So needless to say he passed here at home in our arms like he should have!

I haven't adopted an animal from there but when I found three kittens under my porch they helped me find affordable medical care and spaying services for them. They also gave me a voucher to have their mom spayed too. The staff was so friendly and helpful during that time and because of their help I was able to save hundreds in vet costs.

My Chewy wandered off and ended up here (a good samaritan took him). SO surprised ! Not the pound I can remember growing up(they no longer use the term here). They allow volunteers, as well!

Great special event hosted by the volunteers of the animal shelter. The kids made dog treats, adopted stuffed animals, made ornaments, ate cookies & popcorn and best yet had pictures with Santa. Amazing place, amazing people ❤️

This shelter has gotten such a wonderful facelift! While I didn't see the facilities before it was cleaned up, I will say it looks great now. The cat room is built in such a way that it maximizes comfort and reduces smell, and the area that makes up the dog run in the back could be a little less hilly or spacious, but maybe it was intentional! All in all, it's a wonderful place with staff that cares about the pets they house.

Would not recommend these people whatsoever they are very intimidated by the dogs and don't know how to handle them and they misinterpret them just because they are scared we adopted one dog and went back to adopt another and they denied us doing so they'd rather have them behind bars suffering do NOT adopt from here luckily we got our boy out in time ! These people are idiots 🙄

I fell in love with a dog on Monday and told the staff member that I would like to adopt her. She told me as long as I brought my other dog in to meet her then I could. So I told the staff member that I would bring my dog in the day after and it sounded like it was a done deal. Today I came back with my dog to introduce them but found out that the dog I wanted was adopted that morning even though I told the staff member the day before that I wanted her and was going to adopt her. Very unprofessional, if you plan on adopting a dog and already have one at home I would bring them with you on your first visit.
