Winchester aquarium and Pet Center, located in Winchester, Virginia, is an amazing pet store! They have the largest variety of different types of animals that I've ever seen in a pet store. Everything from various types of rabbits and bunnies, to snakes, which they seem to specialize in piebald pythons, to fish, birds, small mammals such as sugar gliders and guinea pigs, all the way to tarantulas.This is the pet shop where I found my tan chinchilla, wasabi! (Pictured Wasabi and Kudzu on a play date)The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to answer any questions that you have. If you're ever in the area, please stop by just so you can take in this amazing place.

This places saltwater fish selection/coral has left the building, it's not what it use to be. Do not waste your time here for anything saltwater they have no idea about the needs of the fish they house. Sand sifting gobys in tanks with rocks. Aptasia and cyano in laa tanks.

Great selection of really ALL pet supplies but I shop mainly for bird supplies. Bird food and treats can be bought in bulk at a good price& a great selection of toys! We are lucky to have such a great aquarium & pet shop here in Winchester. You can also tell that they really care about their animals and fish, they take very good care of them. Love this place and the people here. I also bought my beautiful male budgie from this shop. He is great! Thank you!!

I had to edit my rating after purchasing our first pet from here, we've visited for years and purchased treats and supplies for our existing pets on and off and had no problems, the staff was kind and knowledgeable.However today my wife went in to purchase a hamster, we've had hamsters in the past and have a surplus of enclosures and aquariums. On the way home the hamster chewed through the cereal box width box they put the hamster in and escaped within 5 minutes, my wife had been monitoring this and easily caught her. She called the store just to let them know the box may be too thin. Their suggestion? "We could have purchased a container at the store".

This place is amazing! They have many custom treats for dogs that are SO adorable. We bought our dog a chocolate dipped strawberry Biscuit that was simply adorable. We will definitely be back for more speciality dog treats for special occasions.If you have kids, definitely bring them to see everything. This place would even be cute to stop by while on a date. There's so much to see. I wish we took pictures and videos of the art, they have so many paintings around the whole store. One detail we loved about this place, they have notes everywhere describing the pets and giving details about their behavior and care. A personal touch we've never seen elsewhere in other petstores.The vibe here was very nice, the staff were friendly. It was a wonderful experience and we will most definitely be back.P.SWe would also like to make a note, this place has far more live animals than the other Pet stores we visited (We went to many different ones in the same day) and their pets were better taken care of. When we went to Petsmart we saw dirty aquariums and beta fish in dirty conditions. Instead if changing their water, they just had those fish on sale. We felt bad for them. I definitely recommend this place. The animals there are so well taken care of, they have sugar gliders, birds, snakes, lizards, rabbits, hedgehogs, tarantulas, from small fish to XL fish, you name it! Friendly service and cleanliness. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Will be coming back.

Every tank had ick and when I asked them about it they said it was fine hundreds of dead fish. Also most fish had defects, owner was rude just go to pet co for fish. Wall of bettas 7 of which were dead for a while. They also have a tank full of male bettas actively fighting each other. I started going here about 2 years ago but thing have changed. This applies for the other animals too. Sad to see a place take that kind of care of animals.

went in to get rats to breed to feed my snakes and traded a male rat for a smaller one because he was too big and they gave me two rats with what seems to be an upper respiratory infection they are sneezing and coughing terribly and covered in fleas i am very upset and displeased with what i was given and if they were fed to my snakes it could kill them!!!!!! wish i could give a 0 star review

Great pet store, lots of unique pets and supplies. The staff was all helpful and polite. Quite a selection of specialty fresh and saltwater fish. The only reason I gave the pet shop 4 stars was because we went to look for a gold fish for a kid aquarium...and there was a tiny selection of gold fish to pick from.

Friendly knowledgeable and great selection of items. The staff are easy to talk to, love to answer questions. They carry salt water fish, corals, fresh water, turtles, beta fish, birds, snakes, lizards, rabbits, hamsters and of course all supplies.

The best place for aquarium enthusiasts and our favorite pet shop!Unlike chain pet stores that carry a limited variety of common fishes and supplies, this pet place is filled with a wide variety of fresh and saltwater aquatic life. Fish, corals, plants, shrimps, snails, everything.I've gotten lots of fish and a variety of shrimps from here, and they all have been super healthy. This is the place I trust for a knowledgeable staff and healthy stock.They also have small mammals, some birds, an impressive reptile section, and dog and cat supplies. All the animals are well tended. Everything is always clean and they look bright eyed and healthy. We love the variety of dog treats, and they have fancy dog cookies beside the checkout counter that are perfect treats for special occasions.

I've been shopping with APC for years now. I've also become very close with staff, who is one of their managers Brandon he's worked with me numerous times regarding fish and aquatics. Their tanks never have given me sick fish, and if they have any infected stock, it is blocked off and not allowed to be sold until under control. I drive the whole way from Shippensburg PA to see them. If you want rare or exotic animals at great pricing or supplies for that matter, check them out, and if you deal with Brandon, let him know Vance sent you

Update: as of today Google maps says they’re open until eight but they’re not, so you might wanna call just to double check. I told the young man that I would do it through suggest an edit but he said his boss would take care of it.Today was my first visit and I was surprised that only the young woman was wearing a mask while two male employees were not. The young woman was extremely helpful, and knowledgeable about the small fish I wanted to add to my pond. Thank goodness she reminded me to get fish food. Hopefully these little guys will feel at home under the lily pads. I really wanted to give three stars for not having masks on but the lady was so nice and I didn’t have to get near those men so it worked out.

This place is great. It's located across the street from Costco and close to the veterinarian. Everything you need for dogs, cats, reptiles, your aquarium, your terrarium, or any pet really. Even the pugs out there. Super convenient location and friendly staff with great customer service. I like tuttles.

I had a sick goldfish in the pond. We had not cleaned out the fall leaves, and they were decomposing. They poisoned the water; two fish became sick! We brought them in, and one responded to old antibiotics we had, but the other just floated. The APC staff knew a lot about their antibiotics, and they set me up with Neomycin, administered in the water. The fish started turning over in 24 hours, and was well after 48! FISH SAVED. It's just a goldfish... but we try to do the best we can for our pets, right? The staff at APC are GREAT, and they know a lot about their products and their pets.

A fantastic and refreshing location far far above big box, stores in quality alone. They have a wide range of reptiles, birds, and mammals in the fish section is probably the best in the area. I’m certainly no beginner pretty much any kind of animal husbandry so it’s nice to be able to go in and ask genuine questions and receive informed, nearly expert advice, and opinion on not only the products, but the animal companion themselves.It’s nice to hear one of the managers explain to this nice lady and her young son, who wanted a particular kind of reptile, and instead of the typical mindless service, one of the managers, very thoughtfully told him the truth, so that they were better informed.” These are going to get quite large so you need to think about it and do some research or feel free to ask us questions at any time because we’re gonna be honest about it”That behavior alone tells me that the people working at this location aren’t as concerned about making a sale as they are about the protection and general welfare of the animals at hand. It’s a real problem in the world because nobody cares and people purchase pets, and then six months, they don’t know what to do with them, or abuse them through negligence and neglect. Our animal friends are simply not toys to purchase and throw away, they are a broad ranging branch of our family, and certainly deserve the care and commitment shown by these employees.This store is very unusual, very old school, All the animals seem pretty healthy and happy and certainly cared for in the areas of nutrition and hygiene.Before you go anywhere else,, please consider spending your money with this business, let’s keep the mom and pop shops who genuinely care in business, instead of supporting the big box stores who fill dumpsters with live animals and literally tons of pet food every year that could be donated to local shelters, but instead of benefiting their communities, they choose destroy and contaminate the bags as they put them in dumpsters. Danny Davidson’s review from a couple of months ago truly sums up this establishment.It’s the kind of business that should be heavily supported by locals, rather than opt for the cheap (you get what you pay for) options in town.I was just at PetSmart at Rutherford Crossing and their fish selection was…well, to paraphrase Jeff Goldblum in “Jurassic Park” — Umm, you are planning on having fish in your fish aquariums at some point?And that is not a criticism of the staff; they were fine. Just a piss-poor example of a large chain hocking goldfish and nothing else.Go to your local live bait store and buy some minnows for a more reasonable price if all you’re looking for is some action in your tank.The point, dear reader (assuming you’ve stayed this long), is that you are far better off going here than anywhere else in the general region.It’s as simple as that: good selection, good service, great knowledge, and honest dealings.Well done to the owners and staff.

The folks I talked to we're very helpful. I was at the shop to get some new plants for my aquarium, and they really helped me pick what would be best with my aquarium setup.They also have a huge variety of fish available, both freshwater and marine. The shop is clean, and offers supplies for a wide variety of pets.

The animals here are really well taken care of. Just bought three bunnies at two different times. I bought them off of two different salesman and I assured the second that I had all the bedding and proper food and cage space for the two rabbits I had bought the next day. He went over several times just to make sure I had everything I needed to care for them.
