I find this place to be pretty magical. It's better organized than the big Goodwill, and what it might lack in quantity comparative to that warehouse of treasures, it definitely wins in terms of quality. I recently found some wooden sculptures that really should be in a museum. I bought what I could afford. It always feels good to spend money to try to help animals. Fun place, definitely check it out in your thrift loops.

Took my wife here, part cause of the SPCA and two cause we like to thrift store shopping. Our first time was win for us, as we found a set of pillows and some old cds for the car. Staff was a blessing, and the store was cleaned.

Quality stuff, pretty well organized, staff can get a little edgy at times but mostly kind. And yes I would say 80% of it is overpriced in the thrift market scheme, especially the frames and art, but I can excuse that considering the extra money is going to all the beautiful little puppies and kittens and pets. Huge clothing section, you'll have to dig for really unique stuff because a lot of it is uva/branded t shirts and hoodies. Not a very good book section but the glass, dish and decorative stuff sections are awesome. It's big and fun to look around regardless.

I found a bunch of things to buy but the prices in here were the highest I have ever seen in any thrift store. One of the items was not marked so I asked what the price was and got a price check and it was more expensive than a pottery store for the size/design (and I had just went into a pottery store two weeks ago so I know pricing). If it is going to a good cause (SPCA) you still need to have the prices lower so you sell more items....to support those causes more often. 3 stars because there were a ton of items in multiple rooms to look at (I like the cluttered look in some of the rooms because I like to look through boxes/shelves in a thrift store), there was plenty of parking, the store was clean, and the staff was friendly to us and we got greeted when we entered the store.

Seriously need to get rid of the manager. Rudest person I have ever dealt with and in no way has people or animals in her best interest. We donate a lot but dread dropping off items. Not even assured the nicer items even make it to the sales floor. We are now searching for surrounding county animal thrift stores to make our donations. Breaks my heart!! Get rid of her or send her to customer service training. Even the employees don’t want to approach her.

I went there this afternoon, I inquired about 2 bracelets. The lady treated me as if I couldn't possibly afford them. Not knowing we are on a buying trip. Insulting customers is never a good idea when trying to make sales. I will of course never step foot in this establishment again, and neither will my money.

I read several reviews about how expensive it was before I got here. I came anyway! I’m glad I did. The prices are higher than some other thrift stores but the quality of the clothing is so much better! Where else can you find clothes with tags on them from Saks etc for $10-20?? Nowhere!!! I got some great things at great prices. I also love how the store supports the fur babies!! I will definitely be back!

Laughably high prices and I just saw half a dozen cars come and leave because they were closed at noon on Tuesday, when they say they're open. They're selling framed stock photographs for $100. And they still have a big "masks mandatory" sign in 2024, though it doesn't seem to enforced. It's like they don't actually want people's money.

The store in itself is wonderful. Staff great. Items appear clean organized. It’s just the prices . I get we are in a “ recession “ but these items where bought new way before ( Covid) so I don’t understand the high dollar. It’s sad. I find all kinds of nice stuff just can’t afford it.

Prices are outrageous. Many of the clothes items are priced more than a brand new version of the same item at Target or Walmart. Rules are posted everywhere so you're afraid to even touch anything so you don't get your head bit off by the staff. No public restroom, but they want you to walk around the huge store and pay way too much for things, and not touch anything in the process. Let's not even mention the choice of music.. this isn't Christmas in 1955 anymore.

I don’t want to give a low score to any organization who is helping animals in need; however, I have been there to the donation drop-off twice within the past week and have been treated rudely by the person working. Totally uncalled for. I and my family donate financially and support the CASPCA every chance we get. Don’t make us dread the trip, please.UPDATE: Made a special trip from Crozet to Charlottesville to donate summer clothing as we approach the end of the season. Donations door closed (although supposed to be open on Tuesday’s). We were about to leave as a woman poked her head out of the door yelling, “CLOSED!” Again, we try to help the animals and are treated so rudely by someone who is supposed to be taking donations. When we went inside to find out what is going on, we were told that woman who was so rude is the manager and the workers in the store are “not supposed to bother her.” Sorry dogs & kitties, I’ll continue to support with food and supplies, but other donations will go to Goodwill and other charities that are appreciative and treat donors with respect.

Not sure if it’s because it’s Charlottesville or inflation recently, but the prices they have for a lot of items are way too high for a thrift store. Most of the clothes I saw were between 10-20$, granted these are higher quality items and expensive brands, but some of these clothes had very visible staining and wear. I understand the money goes towards a good cause, but they would probably sell more if they slashed their prices in half. I

One of the best thrift stores in Charlottesville by far, in my opinion. I give them extra points for being local and not part of a big corporate scheme (like goodwill or the salvation army). Prices may be higher, but I am always happy to spend a few extra bucks on items here because I know that my money is going to a good cause and funding care for animals at the CASPCA. Regardless of any "over pricing" I feel the items are still always discounted appropriately. Staff is always very friendly and helpful and the facilities are kept clean. They have a wonderful boutique section as well. I rarely leave this place empty handed.

Highly disappointed with some specific staff behavior. My family, four children included, were told multiple times not to touch toys, sport equipment etc. They were to look and not touch. Considering we were potentially buying said items, we do our best to thoroughly examine each thing we buy from USED good stores. This was our first time visiting and will be our last.(They do have very nice options in household, books etc. I was just disappointed with some staff behaviors. Customers are there to spend their money. We should be granted the right to look at what we want to purchase. If you have children, I’d pick somewhere else to shop. If not, they have nice choices.)

THE PRICING LADY HAS GONE CRAZY!!!. I get that the place is a great way of making money for the animals but if your pricing so high on used things no one is gonna buy much and this will also maybe stop people from coming at all. Why on earth would anyone go if they know they are gonna get used possibly not all the pieces to things at such a high price 🤔. I don't think I will go back till the pricing is more reasonable for again I say USED THINGS! 🤔 the lower your prices the more you will make cause people will buy more the lowest priced shoes are 6 dollars and they were all beat up.. how is that ok! It is not!

I discovered the SPCA Rummage Store a few years ago in their former space on Preston Avenue. I'm glad they moved to where they are now since the parking is so much better!!It may seem like a Good Will but in my opinion this place is 1000 times better! They seem to have the merchandise more organized and spread out better throughout the store. Some of the stuff may or may not be cheaper then GW but it's still cheaper than buying it brand new plus the first week of the month there are deals in different departments. I've gotten some good deals here and one of my go to places to look around when killing time.

Not the cheapest of thrift stores, but you can find lots of great items. They have an array of electronics, home wares, clothes, pets items, books, etc. Pretty much anything you could find at a thrift store! It's also fairly clean and well maintained. I enjoy going occassionally but typically like to find things at cheaper stores.

Positives: Cashiers are super nice. Good organization and layout.Negatives: Prices are ridiculous. Every now and then I find something reasonably priced, but for the most part, items are priced way too high. It is obvious that prices are set on eBay pricing, but if they knew anything about eBay, they would know that the listing prices are almost never what they actually sell for. I usually go to thrift stores about once a week and while other stores have stock that is constantly turning over, I always see the same stuff here. There were a lot of times that I would have bought something if it we're even half the price, but I usually walk out empty handed.

Wah wah wahhhhh. This store's big problem at the old location was PRICING. Highest of any thrift I'd ever seen. At the new location things became far more reasonable but recently they're back to their old habits and prices are noticeably increasing. PRO TIP whoever is doing it. eBay is NOT a measure of value if you're pricing based on UNSOLD items. Check sold listings and remember you're a charity to help animals and people who need access to good items at fair value! There's always going to be a flipper finding stuff you don't realize is valuable and reselling it. But trying to cash in yourself just seems shady. Make an eBay account for such items if that's your poison. Still a great selection and well organized but those prices...UGH....

I think this is the new location for the SPCA rummage, and it's definitely not as nice. The new location is multiple rooms, rather than a single large room, and the selection seems worse than it did before as well. Although the prices are most of the electronics and even clothes are high compared to Goodwill, there are a few good deals.

Stopped in for the first time on 5/17/19, I was surprised on the cleanliness of the store. Prices a little higher then I like to pay for used stuff, but hey, it is for a good cause. I went to check out and experienced the RUDEST sales person I have encountered in a very long time. I was told the item was not for sale, when I pointed out there was a price on it, she told me she would be right back. So I waited and browsed the stuff by the front counter. The girl came back and without a word to me, took the item and proceeded to walk away and put it back. WITHOUT ONE WORD TO ME!! No explanation, NOTHING! Sad to say, me, my family and any friends I tell, will not be shopping at this place again.

I can always find something good here. Like others have said, it's a bit pricier than your average thrift store, but its for a good cause. Staff could be friendlier, but in the end, you don't go to a thrift store to make friends with the employees.

My adult daughter and I spent the entire day shopping in Charlottesville on September 2nd. 2021. We live 65 miles away. From Bedford to Charlottesville we visited every thrift store. By the time we arrived at this thrift shop it was 9 stores, most much smaller. We also ate lunch in Charlottesville and grocery shopped at two stores. Not ONE store were we required to wear a mask or told at the door to wear one or leave.Your mask theory is ridiculous. If you think makes work..then YOU wear it. Your theory doesn't hold up. If you think they work, is not the mask wearer protected? So stupid. We spoke with several people after that about your store. High prices, of really ANY thrift storearound. Your store wasemptywhen we arrived with the exceptionofthelady checking out. All the other stores were at full capacity. Our visit yesterdaywasourlast. ..

They were selling candles for a dollar which cost 72c at Walmart. Prices are generally exorbitant. There is a woman who works here who was generally mean and rude; telling our children not to check out the toys and harassing us for sitting on the sofa, because of 'liability'.

Great variety and selection. I've found many good items here. They have a large supply of kitchen wares/dishes, clothes, art, figurines and trinkets, a bit of furniture, pet supplies, DVDs, always interesting stuff.

A place once amazing for finding fun deals has decided under new management to use eBay as a guide for pricing. No one pays eBay prices on eBay, hence the reason eBay has been stuggling... now the store just collects unsellable garbage and is hard to wade through. I used to come in daily and spend around $200 a month.. now I haven't bought anything in 4 months. I even stopped bringing in stuff for them because of their ridiculous pricing. If you want pay new prices for 20 year old damaged picture frames, this is the place for you. Otherwise, skip it.

They have the best clothes, a little more expensive than good will, but much better selection. I get almost all my clothes from there. Wonderful people helping out and don't forget, it's for a great cause.

I am finished with this charity! I got yelled at TWICE here on two different days for dropping off excellent donations (one donation contained cedar coat hangers and Waterford Crystal) before the posted "donations accepted" hours. I wasn't asking for help or a receipt and I unloaded the stuff myself. They could have asked me nicely to please not do that, but they were NASTY! The second time, I jumped in my car and sped off rather than load the Waterford Crystal back into my car. That stuff is heavy, it was hot, and I am old and walk with a cane! They should show the same mercy to humans they do to animals.
