I was very pleased with the place/staff on the first day. They were very friendly, helpful and patient. I'm giving our first day (the free "meet the fam" day) 5 stars because I was extremely pleased with the process. I have tried another local doggy daycare place and left there feeling extremely frustrated. However, I felt confident in Pet Paradise and their 4 hour assessment process. I felt as though they listened to my concerns and were available for questions. I also enjoyed the report card at the end of our day, and the constant cameras/live footage. Another thing I appreciate about Pet Paradise is it's budget friendly AND they don't charge late pick up fees for daycare, and have the option for your dog to stay there 10+ hours a day during the week. I definitely recommend Pet Paradise to anyone looking for a doggy daycare. My dog Mango and I will definitely be back!

Our puppy absolutely loved his experience at pet paradise! Anytime I checked on the cameras (which is a great perk for pet owners like myself) the staff was engaging, kind, and diligent. We will definitely make this a regular place to visit!

We spent over $800 to have our three dogs boarded over the holidays. My 5 month old puppy came home drooling, with runny poop.. which has never happened under our watch. He also has been crying a lot, and his bark seems very strained. My 5 year old Jack Russell came home and did not socialize with us at all until this morning, and was in a daze like she was on a medication of some sort. We are considering returning to the facility for footage of our dogs’ stay. We are extremely dissatisfied with this facility, and will not be bringing our dogs back again. Please beware.

Dropped both my dogs off for boarding on Thursday. When I picked them up on Sunday my younger pup (1 year old GSD mix) was very calm and not quite her exuberant self. I thought it was from being tired. However when I got home I noticed her licking at her paws. Upon checking them I noticed major damage to all four of her paw pads. Called the facility and no one had any answers for me. Completely unacceptable for any boarding facility to fail to realize a dog in their care is limping and sore on their feet. Will never board my pets here again.

BEWARE SAFETY ISSUES + LIARSPlease pay close attention to the similarities in the complaints over the past year. It seems they aren't paying these dogs close attention and aren't well trained in animal socialization. I hate using them but in an emergency I've taken my dog to the same Pet Paradise for a year. There was one incident where another dog scratched her eye and I asked for the footage but they dragged their feet on it so long that I let it go. She was fine but I started to be wary of the staffs attentiveness to the dogs.I was out of town at a work thing and not watching the cameras when she was just injured AGAIN at the Charlottesville location. They told me the dogs were rough housing and that another dog scratched her but they'd applied ointment and put her up for the rest of the day. I asked that I not be charged for the part of the day when she was put up and they agreed. When I arrived I asked if the other dog was hurt, they said no. I asked again if they were sure, because I care to know if my dog has injured another dog, and they said no again. Her scratches were minor so again I let it go.However the staff at Charlottesville put a flag on her account so that she isn't allowed in group anymore PERMANENTLY. I got a call about it and asked that they make sure that wasn't a mistake because that is the opposite of what they told me, but the people at the Charlottesville location BLATANTLY LIED and said my dog harmed the other dog. Why would they do that? Even in their lie they said the other dog was agitated and trying to correct my dog. So why didn't they separate them then and there?I've watched how lazy they are with the dogs on camera. Please don't trust your dog with them. Cameras =/= safety. They only give a false sense of trust, because who would dare to be anything less than diligent with a camera on them? I don't have suggestions for Charlottesville, but if you live in the Richmond Area take your dog to All Dogs Adventures. They are excellent and have been voted the best multiple times. I don't think Pet Paradise has been voted the best even once. I only used them as a back up but no more.I don't care about yals response to this. You know you lied.

I have brought my dog Trunks to doggy day camp at pet paradise twice now and so far have been very happy! His first day he was very nervous and the lady that checked us in was very friendly and understanding. She came up to Trunks to meet him and say hi and loved on him. She seemed very patient. I love the fact that they do have cameras and you can peek in and see how things are going. Honestly, I was nervous on how Trunks would do his first day, so I did peek in a few times (ok, maybe a lot). I was so so happy to see he was having a blast! He was making so many friends and the staff were so good with the dogs. They truly seemed to treat them as their own. He came home wiped out which was nice! I brought him back for a 2nd day and he had so much fun he crashed the whole way home. Long story short, he will be going back very soon and will continue to do so as often as I can bring him. Thank you guys for taking such good care of my baby while in your care!- Christine and Trunks

My dog was a weekly day camper at Pet Paradise / Charlottesville for several years. For the most part, we were happy enough with their services (thus two stars instead of one). However, there was an incident that occurred in their lobby in early September that was completely unacceptable… and Pet Paradise was fortunate that no one (person or animal) got hurt.Three staff members were present, as were three dog parents, me being one of them. I had already picked up my dog, but gone back into the building with my dog because her collar had gotten left behind. One of the parents was there to pick up her two dogs. They were brought into the lobby space and handed over to their mom; she (and they) were standing in between the other parent and my dog and me. I was sitting; my dog was out in front of me, fortunately away from and ignoring the two dogs next to us. The two dogs starting growling and lunging at me, to within a foot of where I was seated. I spoke up, to help staff and their mom realize what I assumed they did not see happening. I was told to leave by the staff... that I was causing the dogs to get excited. Whoa!?! *I* needed to leave?? I couldn't move, as the aggressive dogs were directly to my right, between me/my dog and the door. My dog and I were pinned in the corner of the room. The two dogs were escorted out by their mom, and I then headed to my car ASAP with my dog.I was so shaken by the situation that - after I left - I decided to go back into the lobby to speak with the staff. I was thinking they would apologize, tell me that would never happen again, that a new arrangement was being discussed regarding these two dogs, etc... They did apologize, and then proceeded to explain that the two dogs act like that when their person is present. They *knew* these dogs act like that! I asked why she was allowed in the lobby with them in the presence of others. How dangerous that was... and how badly things could have escalated. Strangely, it appeared that all three staff members (one apparently being the manager, one being a long-standing employee) seemed to have no problem with what had happened 20 minutes prior. I left there bewildered.A week passed and I reached back out to speak with the manager about the incident. (That’s when I learned that he was actually one of the staff members who was there when it happened.) I asked to speak to his supervisor and was told I would receive a call from him. I have yet to receive any communication from him.I've since emailed Pet Paradise's corporate address to speak with someone about the incident; that was a week ago. No response. With what seems like apathy from Pet Paradise, I can only hope no one gets hurt when trustingly picking up or dropping off their dog(s) in the presence of these two dogs and their mom.My dog is now enrolled in day camp elsewhere. We have not returned to Pet Paradise since that incident took place.

Took my 9 month doodle here for her first groom. They were friendly, accommodating and prompt. The online schedule process was easy and all questions were answered. I enjoyed the reminders for the appointment. Brittany was her groomer and did a fantastic job on her groom. We will definitely be back.

Unethical reservation process. Tried to book boarding for Thanksgiving in August. Entered information to pay deposit to hold place. Two days later I received an email that they were full and I didn't have a spot. The day before we leave I received a text in the evening that the reservation was starting the next day. When I called to explain what happened I was told that since I did not cancel the reservation that I didn't even know I had seven days before the start date they would have to charge me $100. Completely unacceptable!

The check in process was not great. I would tell the girl about our dogs and it’s like she was not listening at all and would say/do the opposite of what I just told her. I had been watching cameras all morning and never saw my dogs get let out so I called to ask about it and was told they were about to go out and they never went out. I continued watching the cameras the entire day into the evening and didn’t see them go out. I watched the following day, never saw them get let out that day either and again I watched cameras until 5:15. Upon picking up my dogs, they reeked of urine, it was obvious they hadn’t been taken out and had to go to the bathroom in their room. They were both severely dehydrated. We had to stop at a restaurant downtown to get them a bunch of cups of water. Other pet owners saw our dogs and asked if they were okay and I told them what happened and they will be sure to not bring their animals to pet paradise. My dogs have to go to the groomers now due to the urine smell on them and the vet to see why my dog has lost his voice and because they were so dehydrated when I picked them up. I am disgusted at the treatment beyond words. I paid $300 for you guys to neglect my dogs and an extra $40 per day for them to be let up separately from other dogs and you’ve cost me so much more money due to the negligence.

I'm on the fence with a complete review yet. But my dogs stay was 8 days, I believe,I prepackaged his meals for those days . I was told he was eating and drinking water . But he lost 3.5 lbs while there?? When I picked him up he was panting very heavy, and when in the truck with me on the way home, he was visible having an anxiety attack. I called the facility back about 10 minutes after I left and only got a voice mail. I left a message to be called back but still have not received a call. The next day, he was not feeling well and he had blood in his poop and in his vomit. I did ask about looking to see where his kennel was or where he stayed and was told I was not allowed to go back to see this? I asked why? And the kid Saud it's policy and she was trained that way,and it was for my safety? I don't see how I would be unsafe just to look at where he was being housed at.

We’ve used a few daycare/boarding providers in town and this one is hands down the best. Friendly staff who take really good care of the dogs in their care and a clean, modern facility. I highly recommend them for daycare and boarding.

Our little Cavalier, Stella, has been going twice weekly to day camp at Pet Paradise for the past year and a half. She absolutely loves it and it’s great getting to watch her play with her friends on the webcam. All the staff is friendly and very affectionate toward the dogs. We highly recommend the day camp experience!

I've been a loyal customer of Pet Paradise since 2019 (and even before then before they changed owners).  I have a 7 lb yorkie and have been using their grooming services.  I've been generally happy with my services.  However this last time that I went, I accidentally chose the wrong service for grooming (the $55 vs $65 grooming service).  While admittingly, it was my error, I reached out to Pet Paradise to see if they were willing to accommodate any discounted grooming services so I could get my dog a haircut.  I paid $55 to get basically a bath, brush and minimal trimming for my 7 lb dog.  They said because it was what I booked, they wouldn't be able to accommodate anything but happy to book another grooming appointment.  The grooming would be $65 to get my tiny dog cut.  So in essence, I would be paying $120 to get my small yorkie cut!! I could maybe understand if I had a medium sized dog, but my dog is SEVEN pounds! I was very disappointed they weren't willing to work with me and given I've been going to them for over 4 years.  This doesn't seem like good customer service and unfortunately, I will now be looking for other grooming services.  In addition, this time at pickup it took them 3 tries to even find my dog.  I'm not sure what happened and why it was so challenging to find her and that's concerning to me.

We were thrilled about taking our dog to her first day at Pet Paradise. My partner and I arrived together for this visit because we were both excited to get to know the staff and the facility. We live very close to the location and had been looking for a dependable place to regularly bring our high-energy golden retriever pup. We were happy and enthusiastic to be there. Our experience was completely soured in the first few minutes after our arrival. The young woman at the reception desk was arrogant, rude and dismissive. I don't know if she was having a bad morning or if this is her normal demeanor, but we walked out after she escalated the tension in the conversation for the fourth or fifth time in a five minute span (among other things, telling us we came in "the wrong door", as if this was something we should know on our first visit). At any point it would have been simple for her to say, "oh hey, let's start over" or "wow, maybe that came out wrong", but instead she kept pushing. An adversarial relationship is not what we were looking for and so we left extremely disappointed.

We had both of our dogs in last week for an overnight night stay and daycare and they both came home happy and tired. We gave them short notice and they were able to accommodate us. I would highly recommend them. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

I took my cat for a bath and claw trim for the first time, after calling and receiving a price quote of $45. I later confirmed this price on the company's corporate website, although I saw no prices listed on the local Charlottesville website. When I picked my cat up I was told the price was $80. I asked for an explanation and received none. I asked if there were any baths that were closer to the $45 quoted price and was told no, without explanation. I was pleased with the bath and claw trim, although I don't think my cat received the 15-minute brushout that was part of the advertised package. But due to the price switch and the attitude of the person I dealt with, I'm dissatisfied. I wrote to the company on their corporate customer portal, and was advised I'd receive a response in 48 hours. So far, 5 days later, I have received no response. So I cannot give this company a good rating.

Only used it to board my dog 2 days. Picked her up with a bacterial skin infection. Took her to the vet and spent a bunch of money on medication. She won’t stop scratching herself. I emailed pet paradise to tell them the situation was and ask if there was any issue with her stay and there was no response. Will not be back.

The folks here are always wonderful to the two-legged and four-legged clients. Dogs are well-taken care of and it's easy to drop off and pick up. Rewards points are a bonus, and so is the video live cam of the pup play yards.

My dog ACE (18 lbs) has been boarding here several times over the past 6 months. The staff at PP is always welcoming and friendly. The facility from my perspective is clean and well tended. They take great care of my dog and he is always happy to see his buddies! Love the online reservation system and the webcam so we can watch him at play. We have been very pleased with the facility, service and level of care.

Complete INCOMPETENCE, from the front desk on up…had a confirmed 0700 appointment for a dog grooming/bath. Everything that goes into getting doggo ready (feed, potty, etc.) done early…I live 40 mins away, so had to leave around 615-620. Arrive a little early and was told that “Brittany” called in sick “this morning” and that they could not keep the appointment. First, why is Brittany allowed to call in sick the morning of/before her shift when she has a full day of pre-scheduled ‘work’? Second, why I wasn’t called, I am the first appointment, the front desk girl said that she was too busy with other issues. INCOMPETENCE. I left and called back a little while later and simply asked for the name of GM to which I was told there was no GM (surprise) and that the assistant MGR (@Issah) had only been there 2 weeks (go figure). INCOMPETENCE from the front desk on up. I asked for the name of the regional MGR (@ Alonzo Moore) and before she gave me that, she asked why and was there anything she could do. I will not go into detail of the excuses that this individual gave as to why this chain facility is so incompetent (generally speaking in her words...low staffing levels, that corporate is aware of issues, etc.) I suggest @Alonzo Moore, that you not hire INCOMPETENT immature kids to do an adult job…start with that. Train your front desk staff to call the early appointments FIRST, it’s not that hard. I mean, we are talking about washing dogs. If Brittany calls in sick, maybe have a back up plan! Maybe call her clients, maybe have consequences for Brittany if she calls in last minute, maybe have her supervisor wash dogs…lots of ways to still provide good customer service.About 40 minutes later, the other dog groomer called and said she didn’t know Brittany called in and that she could ‘probably’ get to my doggo if I dropped him off again…she was very nice and that would have been nice to know an hour ago! Thanks, but no thanks…not sure that I trust any of the staff there with my 2 doggos anymore. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.

The staff at Pet Paradise does a fantastic job and my little dog Hazelnut loves the day camp; however, they are woefully under staffed. I would like to see Pet Paradise take the necessary steps to attract and keep additional dedicated people.

This was the first time ever boarding our dogs and I feel like it was a very good experience for them! They aren’t around much other dogs or people and so I think they definitely needed this interaction! Communication was a bit vague and I wish they could had told us more when we would call to check on them. I also have yet to receive any Pawgress report cards that were included with our boarding. But besides that, overall I think they did great!

My dog Femi Morrison (Goldendoodle) has been going to this location since he was a puppy. He has been going for two years. I love that whenever my dog comes to the facility, they know his name and greats him like family. The staff is very professional and kind and provides the best customer service. Also, the grooming staff knows what they are doing. My doodle has always come back looking amazing. In addition, ALL SERVICES ARE AFFORDABLE!!!Pet Paradise Charlottesville is the best dog boarding, grooming, and daycare facility in town.

We made an appointment months ago for our two dogs to stay at this location during family weekend. When we arrived, one of the workers came right at our one dog to try to put an ID collar on her without any introduction and wasn't happy when our dog reacted. She then asked if she would be able to handle our dog during the stay. She is a 10 pound Havanese who has never hurt anyone. I was stunned that someone working at a pet establishment would ask if they'd be able to handle this dog. Then I brought our things to the front desk and the other worker saw her medicine and immediately said she didn't know if they could take her. The first employee made a phone call and they both announced they wouldn't take our dog after all. No sorry. Nothing! I had spoken with someone ahead of time and they said we would just have to fill out some paperwork when we arrived. And this was a tiny pill that the dog happily takes. The website says, "Pet Paradise employees are thoroughly trained to administer medications. If you have a senior pet, please inform an associate and we will gladly accommodate their needs." This is unbelievable! We have never been treated like this and it was appalling!!

There is no indoor facility for individual playtime because this chain is from Florida so they didn’t plan for cold weather 😂 is that a joke? I paid for individual play and there were days the care takers just sat with my dog in the tiny room because they said it was too cold to go out (30-40 degrees is pretty a standard winter temp) and they didn’t have an alternative indoor space because it’s used for group play. Never communicated until after.

We boarded our two cats for the first time over the holiday weekend. Pet Paradise made it pretty simple and easy. They were kind and helpful. The only thing I wish was that the "report cards" had been filled out. I know they are cats - they didn't join a play group or get haircuts, but I would have liked to see notes on if they acted overly stressed, if they ate or boycotted out of fear, if they had any issues.

They ruined my dog. Without consent, the groomer shaved my dog, ruining his coat, his ability to stay warm in winter, and making him incredibly itchy with irritation. I have never seen worse grooming of an animal.Do not bring your pet here under any circumstances.I also strongly suspect he was not let out or provided water in the 4 hours he was in their care.
