I have used this salon for numerous months, even several years back, no issues. Always there when needed them. Well I had an appointment Fri. 11, 23 drop off at 7:30 am for my girls. We get there at 7:15 as always cause we travel in to town not knowing traffic. We waited and waited as other customers show up and waited an waited well there were several who had to go to work. Myself am disabled and my husband takes off to be with me to help. We waited until 9:00 as I had another appointment at 9:30. As I get to my other appointment I called the groomer again, which was almost 9:30 she answered said she got stuck in traffic, not sure where as we went through town and to 29 no problem. I said my whole day has been ruined as I had to drive all the way home cause couldn’t do my stops for the day with dogs in a hot car. So she said bring them back today Saturday 12, 23 @ 8:00 we open on Saturday. We were there this morning @ 7:45 till 9:30 again NO SHOW. There were 6 others who showed up with there dog’s saying there had been a new owner, I’m not sure who is operating this grooming now, but you suck you ruined 😡 2 full days for me a 1/2 a tank of gas and a full work day for my husband! Just so you know I will NOT be bringing my girls back to this establishment again. You have no way of reaching this person except through the number to store with a full mailbox! You won’t stay in business long with these techniques. Hope you have the day you deserve. P.S. there were several elderly people with drop offs that had traveled to also be left waiting. Poor business actions. Also the shop was still dirty from day before. And I also called up to 11:00 am Saturday still no answer and it’s after 7pm no call from them.

My first visit. The employee was friendly, and my dog came home clean and happy. However, i couldn't give this place more than 3 stars because of one glaring thing: it smelled like cigarettes inside. I can't return due to the cigarette stink, but if they cleaned that up, I would definitely return.

Been going to this place for over 9 years. If I can give them a zero I will give them a zero not a star today . The new owner of the pet salon now is horrible . The service was horrible. I went to pick my dog up and my dog looked the same as when I drop him off 8:00 this morning just with no tangles. She wanted to charge me for him when that’s not what I wanted . It was nowhere near the cut actually no cut at all. She put a bow at the top of his hair to hide the mistakes they did at the top of his head. unless the rest of his hair long. I don’t have a problem paying for a cut. But I’m not going to pay for something I didn’t receive. After that she tells me my child and my dog to never come back to the shop again because I disagreed with how my dog look. Which is a hot mess. She will never have to worry about me but the thing is is you can’t treat people like that you will not be in business for long.

Two weeks ago when we got there to drop our dog off there was a note on the door that they had to close due to an emergency and didn't have time to call everyone. I called the following Tuesday and made an appointment for today. Got there a few minutes before 8am and waited until a few minutes after 9 and nobody showed up to open. Still have not heard from anyone.

Our Lakeland Terrier was in dire need of grooming when we visited in May. Pantops did a wonderful job for her first time visit. We are back visiting and look forward to returning to Pantops.

Took our Australian shepherd/blue heeler mix in for a bath and trim this morning. He's long haired and I told the groomer to just trim him with scissors. She repeated what I said, so I assumed we were on the same page. Man, was I wrong! When they brought the dog out, he had been shaved! You're not supposed to shave an aussie! I'm not sure why they decided to shave him, but needless to say, I will never use that groomer again! If they are professionals they should have listened to what I asked them to do and known that you should never shave Australian shepherds. I strongly recommend not using this groomer.

Took my 3 month old puppy to get her first haircut and the ladies here did a great job. As soon as we arrived my puppy was greeted with a hug which made her feel at home. I thought this would be a frightening experience for her but these people are clearly pet lovers as well as being good at their trade. I will be a returning customer.

I took my two boys bullet and Scrappy to the ladies at Pantops Pet Salon to get their nails done they were in and out in just a few minutes and they did a great job thanks girls you are my go-to for the next nail cutting for sure

I have been a faithful patron of Pantops Pet Salon for 14 years with the same dog, Smyrna. We have had a wonderful experience with them when Julie was there. I used to tell everyone to go there. At 14 years old my little Shih Tzu has bumps that are often nicked when she goes there and bleeding when she returns. I have never complained - only asked them to be more careful - because I had faith they do the best they can. We have always had good reports from the groomers. Last time I took her Amber said that she was nervous and nipping them during the grooming and told us Smyrna would not be allowed to return to get groomed there. I was shocked. After 14 years of loyalty to a business you would think that we would be treated better than this. A better manager would have thanked us for our loyalty and let us know that Smyrna had a bad day and tell us about the situation and assumed some responsibility. They would have acknowledged our trust in them and tried to discuss ways that both their groomers and us as owners could make Smyrna feel more comfortable there instead of telling us not to return after one incident. I am severely disappointed. I think they are under some new ownership and that in the past they did a great job. Now it appears that if your dog has any health problems or is anything but a perfect easy dog to groom they're not able to handle it. Smyrna and I will gladly find another place to go!

AMAZING. Let me preface with if you have a serious sense of urgency regarding your dogs groomer, this may not be the place for you..BUT if you don't mind the vacation you and your pet get for the day, then check this place out. The care, patience and attentiveness for the pets is obvious, and she ends up with a great haircut every time. The prices are also very reasonable for charlottesville. Thank you Pantops Pet Salon!

We did not have a good experience. Inexperienced at handling a dog that doesn't like her feet touched for a nail trim. We have had no problem at Petco, she doesn't like it but the handlers know how to get it done at Petco without an issue. Here, she was nipping and whining but would never bite. Instant muzzle on her, she was scared, drooling. There were two people trying to handle her. I won't go back, just not a good vibe all around.

The first time our poodle was groomed here was good. Friendly groomer and she looked good with no reports of issues. Today we had a different groomer. Our poodle has dirty ears, here poodle her legs and rump are huge compared to the butcher job done on her ears and head. The new groomer reported that our sweet poodle who had a great experience last time, was bad during the grooming and really matted. She was groomed only 5 weeks ago. Not to mention, our poodle appeared scared when I arrived. I won't be back because to add insult to injury they charged me $80 to make my dog look so bad. So confusing how one groomer was so good and the next one so bad.

Recently took my dog here (in April). She was acting very weird and aggressive after. I discovered that she got snipped in her private area. Called to address the issues, Amber didn’t take accountability. Unprofessional & I will not be returning. I have been bringing my West Highland Terrier to this pet salon for 9 years...since he was a puppy. The ladies that work here are fabulous and take great care of him. Now, Mr. Buttons is a biter and can be somewhat agressive. As he got older there was no improvement. The ladies could have easily turned us away, but they were patient and advised us to speak with our Vet to get medicine that will make Buttons less agressive when he comes for his appointment. That is exactly what we did and the first time we used the medicine it worked great. But, the last 2 times were not so effective and we noticed the Vet gave us something different. Again, the ladies worked with us even though Buttons was naughty. I don't want them to get bit so I am going to circle back with my Vet to get the right medicine going forward. We appreciate the Pet Salon team very much. They do great work and my Westie gets so many compliments...I have told so many pet owners about this salon and many have come or are already customers. Thanks for all you do!!

The cut of my dog was not great, it was rather uneven on the ears, though her shave was fine. The price was excessive, a good $10 more than anywhere else. They offered to spray with cologne which I accepted but wish I had not as it’s very pungent and not the best smell. Will look elsewhere next time I need a trim.

I have two Golden Retrievers. 1 is VERY fuzzy (tons of shedding) and she takes a LOT of work. They do a brilliant job getting her coat under control! I bring them 3 times a year for a summer buzz and 2 times during winter for maintenance clean and trim. Pantop's Pet Salon does a fabulous job every time! My older golden has arthritis and they work with her while she lays down so she doesn't have to stand for grooming for hours. My Goldens are sensitive and I can always tell if someone yelled at them, if they were uncomfortable or treated unkindly causing stress. Everyone is ALWAYS happy and calm (not nervous let me out of here) when picked up. I found this shop when my original groomer was on vacation. These guys cost more than my last groomer, but they get it right every time, are worth every penny and never returned to my last groomer. These guys are the BEST!!! I would recommend all day long to anyone wanting excellent care for their pet.

They do an excellent job ,but when you call to get an appointment they make it a point to tell you that they close when the last dog is finished so you really don't know closing time.

Awful experience. The salon reeked of cigarette smoke and looked dirty. I wish I turned around and left as it only got worse. They completely butchered my dog's coat, shaving him down to almost his skin and even cutting his whiskers in the middle of winter. Even my dog's nails are jagged. This was not the work of a professional groomer. For this, they charged me $95. My dog walker picked him up and agrees that the cut doesn't look the least bit professional. The salon owner was unapologetic and said he couldn't figure out his credit card machine to put my 20% tip back on my card (I am not tipping for this monstrosity!) For the health and safety of your dog, DO NOT GO HERE! My dog still smells like cigarette smoke.

Before making an appointment, I watched the videos on the web site and was pleased at the extent of the services. I called to get a quote and was told (after she carefully looked it up in the book) that my dog's brush & bath would cost "no more than $45.00". When I picked my dog up they had not clipped her pad hairs or private parts as advertised in the videos. (They did not have to do her nails, because I had done them the day before). And they charged me $55.00. (They said they charged me extra because I had not brushed her hind quarters out thoroughly before bringing her in for a BRUSH and wash). Four hours after bringing my dog home she was walking with her head tilted to the right - though her ears were clean, they were left wet enough to have her scratching. If you choose to use Pantops Pet Salon my recommendation is to get a written quote and thoroughly inspect the work before leaving the premises - I wish I had.

Pantops Pet Salon & Spa is the absolute best in every way! I have been taking my purebred Shih tzu to Mike and the gang for over 12 years now, and I have NEVER had any type of problem at all. That's saying a lot since my dog gets groomed every month. The Pet Salon is exceptionally clean, and the staff are ALL very professional, skilled and friendly. They go above and beyond to provide the best experience for my dog, and the most convenience for me. Mike and staff provide individualized service and CARE to every dog they groom. They have taken excellent care of my dog even though she has had multiple medical issues over the years (allergies, back problem, seizures). I have referred many friends and colleagues to Pantops Pet Salon, all with great success. I would never go anywhere else for my dog's needs!

Great prices and great service. I like to do things myself but my Labrador is so hairy. I could spend all day brushing her and it just never seems to end. This place is worth every penny. They have always provided great service and their prices are outstanding. They are always done when they say they will be done. Great operation.

The first time I took my golden retriever to this groomer I was very impressed. His ears were clean, his nails clipped and he had a nice trim 5 stars! But this time I was quite disappointed. His ears were not cleaned and his summer cut barely took anything off even though I specified that I wanted it shorter for summer but not shaved (like in the brochure picture). Jagged nails. Tufts of hair between nails on paws. Certainly not what the videos or brochures show; and not at all like the first time I brought him here. I guess it is hit or miss.

Great pet salon with friendly staff and very reasonable prices! Tip: do not use Google maps to get to this store (for some reason it sent me more than a mile away). Instead enter the Food Lion at Pantops in your GPS' as this pet salon is in the same shopping center at the far right end.

Been going with our Goldendoodle for two years. Mike is the expert in the breed and is truly dedicated to doing a professional job. All the folks at the Salon love animals and know the business. Beyond just the talent, friendliness, and professionalism what makes this place so special for me is that Mike is a wounded Viet Nam Vet who has dedicated the last 40 years to helping pets -- he is as honest as they come.
