Martin's stands out as a local gem with so many helpful and knowledgeable staff. I love that whenever you walk in there's someone ready to escort you to whatever aisle you need, or just help coming up with different solutions. You'll never get that at the big box stores.

Extremely Knowledgeable Staff. Real Hardware Store. Been in Cville for over 100 years. It took me only 5 minutes to get the exact hardware (10 Parts) I needed for a project. The Big Box stores cannot even compare in customer service or results. If you are unsure of parts needed or to get the right parts the first time GO HERE.

This is one of the best hometown hardware stores I've shopped at in many years. You can buy many items in the quantity needed. You're not forced to buy a package of 25 items, for example, like you would at a big box store, when you only need a few. Help has always been available when needed. And the prices are competitive and sometimes better than the big box stores.

No return policy on open products. I had to open it to see if it fit didn"t, fit spent $32 on something that was non returnable. I thought there would be signs or something. They say to shop local why Lowes would have returned it. I will bad-mouth this store until they close their doors😒

I am a frequent and loyal customer! The employees are knowledgeable and have been very very helpful with an array of project--never condescending. The selection of single item hardware is incredible (for when you just need 2 particular screws) and the garden center downstairs is a hidden gem!

I'll be honest with you. This review seems a bit pointless. If you are anywhere in the area, you know of this place, and you know how good it is.They don't have the physical space to stock all the things you would find at a big chain hardware store, but chances are that what you need for what you are doing, they have it, and they have the version they believe in, rather than every brand under the sun.Their staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable, and really what defines who and what this store is. If you are anywhere nearby, and you need some tool or odd little widget for a project, stop in, get quality advice, good products at fair prices, and support a local institution.

This place does an impressive job of packing useful stuff from floor to ceiling in its tiny space. Once you go a few times you can get a feel for their organization method. It's a great store, with competitive prices and a surprisingly comprehensive product line. It saves me many a trip to the big box stores.

Had a great experience buying a new Weber grill from Martin Hardware. They are knowledgeable about all their products. They assembled my grill and two very nice gentlemen came out to my house in Keswick and delivered it to exactly where I wanted it. They made sure everything worked, and gave me a run down on the product I had just purchased. They called ahead and arrived exactly on time. So glad I didn’t buy the same product on Amazon or at Lowe’s. Go local. You won’t regret it!

Love Martin's its a bit cluttered but they try to cover all areas of needs sometimes they are so busy you may have to wait to talk to someone but its close that makes it better than going up 29. Lowes has a little more to offer but there never seems to be anyone to help you mostly after 5pm

Neat hardware store with a great family feel! This place has been around for a long time and they have a lot of knowledge! The staff were awesome and were VERY helpful. They really have about anything you need and probably more stuff you didn't know you needed! Stop in here even if you aren't shopping for anything.

In the age of big box stores and online shopping I cannot overstate the value of a good local hardware store like Martin's. The staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable, they also have a remarkably large inventory meaning trips to the home despot are thankfully few and far between.

I purchased a can of mineral spirits from Martin Hardware as part of a project I was doing. I used the spirits and then set the can on my workbench. When I came back a few days later the can had leaked all over my bench and removed the finish. Because of the damage it did, I put the can outside so it couldn’t do any more damage to my house/furniture. It was a few weeks before I could get to the store to try to exchange or return (this store is open roughly the same hours I’m at work and not on Sundays, making it difficult to get over there while they are open) and the manager made a production of the fact that it had been a few weeks and I didn’t have a receipt. “How do I believe you,” is what he asked. I ended up leaving the leaking can and driving straight to Lowe’s to make my purchases. I usually try to do business with mom and pop businesses over big box stores, but in this case I know that Lowe’s would have replaced the item without complaint and would not have questioned my character in the process. Unfortunately I will not be returning to Martin Hardware.

The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because they can't possibly carry all the things you might need for various home improvement projects. I wish there were room for nuance on these reviews because they deserve a 4.5 star review. 5 stars for service and helpfulness, 4 stars for selection and accessibility.

Simply the best hardware store. Aisles are packed full and everything is quality, staff is very knowledgeable and accessible. I can find everything I need here and its much closer and more personal than Lowes. Shop Local.

You can't beat a small community hardware store - they are a dying breed. Generally, they have every "regular" tool, device, fastener, paint, glue, brush, etc. you need for residential renovation. I just purchased a light-duty bench vise there. Heck, they even carry the 6-foot zippers for plastic/poly dust barriers. Generous return policy - 30 days with receipt. Helpful staff, who know what is stocked on the shelves and knowledgeable about construction. They have lumber and larger materials and equipment in the basement.Every time I go in there I wander all the aisles just to familiarize myself with what they have.

Great and friendly staff specially the elders, I couldn't find what I was looking although they have a good selection but they point to another store near in a really polite and helpful way .
