Recently spruced up and expanded organic options, they even have fresh (refrigerated) pet food! Still present are good basic and lower priced items that Food Lion is known for. This is a really good food lion. Good produce, nice and neat. An excellent Craft beer selection, big Latino food section.

I ordered a 24 piece fried chicken to be picked up same day with a 2 hour window to make it and the lady on the phone was not pleasant at all she was breathing heavy and acting like it was a problem and at first said it was not possible when I do this all the time and then I told her it could be a little later and she said no it be ready by 5 like I requested but not before she said the grease was old and she didn't want to fry anymore chicken in that grease. I have worked in the food industry with fryers and know that it does not take more than an hour to drain clean and refill a big fryer but to tell me it was old grease felt like it was to get me to change my mind because she really didn't want to do it in the first place. I don't feel that this was appropriate customer service and really hope that my fried chicken is not old and is made fresh when I pick it up at 5pm today

First and foremost, I love to shop at food lion, secondly this store is always easy to shop at and in and out quickly, I find the prices are verry compedable if not lower than most places at this difficult time to save. I'm a US army veteran, today the 30th of September 2022, myself and the manager we're just talking about how the food and living are so tough, especially for us senior citizens. God bless him, he found me in the store and presented me with a 10 dollar gift card and thanked me for my service. To date, no one ever has done a thing like this before for me and I'm 70. God bless his heart, this store and its employees. Always your customer. Mr Mitchell Magee. Thanks.

Great quick stop for my usual ice cream and chocolate fix 😋! Not too many people, didn’t have to wait long at the register. The store lay out is pretty easy to read, unlike some other places where you can walk for an hour looking for necessary products. I don’t now about the other isles but in the candy section the selection was great, any brand, whether you’re vegan or not there is an option for you!

I was directed there to look for a particular kind of low calorie whole grain loaf bread. Theresa was able to tell me that, to her knowledge, "the item was not something Food Lion carried." She then took the covering I had given to show her to co-worker. I assumed him to be a manager. This young man was exceedingly helpful. He went as far as calling his delivery person (who just happened to be outside making a drop). By detail the manager and delivery person was able to lead me to a different grocer. The manager went all out to help me find this item. Very kind and wonderful customer service. Many thanks to the Willoughby Shopping Center Food Lion team!

I do not recommend shopping here. Staff is rude unless you are a friend and manager is unresponsive to complaints. Policy seems to be that customer is always wrong and staff is always right. Will even go so far as to embarrass and humiliate customers in front of staff if it will make staff happy. No wonder it is so poorly stocked and cleaned. Also have a serious concern that they in no way enforce the face mask policy put in place by the governor. I do wear a mask to protect others and when most shoppers here do not it endangers my life.

I didn’t really like the Willoughby Square Food Lion in Charlottesville.I approached an employee to tell them there was a slippery spot in the aisle. The employee thought I was going to say they needed to wear masks. (The employee wasn’t wearing one) The employee very rudely said “I know what you’re going to say, I just took my mask off for a minute” then they quickly walked away! I went to customer service and the girl asked if I would like to speak to a manager and told me I’d have to wait 15-20 minutes to speak to the manager. I said I don’t have time to wait, told her about the slippery spot and how I was treated. She offered to take down my name/ number and have the manager call me. I said sure. After she took my name/number I paid for my items and left. A “manager” called me a half hour later, I missed the call.They left a voicemail, this is what they said - “Hello, this is Food Lion, I hope you will shop with us again. If you want to speak with me you can call the store. The number should be on your caller ID. Thank you. Bye.”That’s exactly what they said word for word. Didn’t leave a name, no apology, nothing. I didn’t call back. Clearly they don’t really care about their customers at this Food Lion!

I can't believe I went into the Fifth Street Food Lion a couple days ago and they were allowing a lady to have a pitbull walk around in their store no leash no nothing like it was a dog shed and then this same woman it allowed to bring another time the week before was allowed to walk around the store with a small short hair Chihuahua around the store I didn't know that Food Lion allows animals to just walk around no leash no nothing especially pitbulls and short haired Chihuahuas who have hair that go everywhere and shed horribly are y'all going to let the dogs that walk around your store like it's nothing like I'm at PetSmart instead of Food Lion maybe it's management end up doing something instead of staying in the back it seems like all the time cuz you can never find a manager so I tried to find one stood at customer service for almost 10 minutes not a single manager and the employee at the desk told me they didn't know where they were if management actually had a spine and did their job maybe they would tell this lady stop bringing a Chihuahua and a pitbull and a store with food in it with no leash and you know they're not assistance animals because there's no vast there's no collar and there's no tags showing they are

I love food Lion and buy 85% of my groceries here. They have great prices and great savings. There new money back savings opportunity is a great way to earn by spending a set amount in each department that earns cash back on the next months purchase. Would be a full 5 stars if the website worked but 75% of the time it is impossible to log in without being immediately logged out which makes tracking rewards difficult.

Food lion really made an impression on me, I shop at this particular Food Lion very random and irregularly, but every single employee I passed spoke, and were very pleasant, the young man at the deli counter, super nice and polite, did a good job juggling multiple customers, engaging everyone so they were greeted and weren't ignored. A random employee on the floor, again, spoke, very nice, I was wrangled and assisted by 3 employees to check out, guided to the best lane and helped unload everything with a smile, cashier was polite and did a good job, and the bagger was on it, friendly, everyone was super helpful.....and it didnt hurt that I was looking for ribs and they were on a good sale, so great trip to the store!

They have great employees for register and cleaning staff but management is horrible you never have any manager that is available for back of the store you always have to go to stat and management in front of the store to get help with anything else the management there never communicates with each other never communicate with employees and if your employee that actually works there don't have a death in the family you'll get fired for taking time off and don't have a partner or family member need an emergency surgery cuz you'll get wrote up for taking time off for that this is the worst place to work because management does not care about employees and they do not communicate whatsoever 3 months that I was there five people walked out my first week I was there a manager and an employee had a Days of our lives episode in the middle of the store in front of customers the managers at the store need to be trained how to be management

Just wanted to share that employees are not cleaning the carts when they bring them inside and that there are never any wipes in the containers as you come in the store to do so yourself. Just a bit ago, watched an employee bring in a bunch of carts and she didn’t even spray them down. In the age of COVID-19, this is not a safe place to shop.

Do not shop here. They are often out of things and the management is totally useless. Whenever you ask to speak to one because of the rude cashiers etc they are never anywhere to be found. It is worth it to go across town and shop at one of the other fine stores here in Charlottesville. Or just go across the street to Wegmans. They have a lot more variety and are much more responsive.

I went in Food Lion to get a few items and I never noticed before you could get 5 for $20 5 items for $20 so I invested in that and went to the counter and all my purchase came to $30.08 and I didn't have a $30 on me so the cashier was very nice and says I think I have the $0.08 I thought that was very nice of her she didn't have to do that in the meantime I left my cell phone I left the store and I got all the way home and I found out that I had left my cell phone so I went back to Food Lion on 5th Street in Charlottesville and I asked the cashier did she see a cell phone she says check it customer service and thank you Jesus the phone was turned in by someone and a young lady asked me what type of phone it was and they had my phone God is so good so my experience that Food Lion is very good and my rating for Food Lion is always fabulous

In the state of Virginia I have been in many Food Lions but the one on 5th Street extended is probably one of the best customer service locations for a Food Lion to get your groceries very clean the best bathrooms are very clean and the customer service is one of the kindest when it comes to a grocery store and they're always very helpful and they keep their food nice and fresh it's one of my favorite grocery stores

Recently renovated. A million times faster than going up to wegmans. Definitely worth the time if you need just normal food stuffs and not overpriced cheese or beer.
