Very nice, clean, well maintained KOA.We stayed in a pull through where smaller trailers and cabs were, it was wooded with spectacular trees and quite private. There was an area that was very nice for bigger rigs.Dog yard was small but clean and nice.Bathrooms were very nice.Poison ivy all around so be careful.Nearby activities: Monticello, Colonial Williamsburg, Shenandoah National ParkWegmans

This KOA is off the beaten path which was nice as it was quiet and remote. The folks that run it are a nice family. They are putting a lot of work into it with the addition of several new sites. Nothing fancy to speak of here, but was a great stay for seeing the Charlottesville area. The road in is two lane and a bit winding but our duelly and 39’ fifth wheel made it just fine. Be advised there is bridge construction on a google route that is narrow and tight turn. The office advised us of how to avoid it. Happy trails.Nearby activities: Thomas Jefferson World Heritage Site, James Monroe Museum, James Madison Montpelier, Trump Winery. All sites worth a visit.

If you're looking for a big resort type campground, this one probably isn't for you, but it's exactly why we enjoyed it. It's only about 60 sites and it's far enough from the highway that it is very quiet. Enjoyed the fact that there weren't golf carts running around at all hours kicking up dust and making noise like many of the bigger campgrounds these days. Pleasant young lady helped us when we checked in and answered any questions we had. Site was packed gravel and almost perfectly level. We had Buddy sites 8 and 10 and there was plenty of room between the sites so we didn't feel like we were right on top of each other. Campground was very clean and there seemed to be maintenance workers around working on keeping it up all day. Main roads coming in are a little tight and twisty, but had no problems. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay and we will definitely be back.

We just enjoyed a 4 night stay at this lovely little campground in the beautiful countryside outside of Charlottesville. Great spot to camp with easy access to UVA (we were visiting our daughter), plus wineries, breweries, distilleries, Monticello (definitely check this out!) plus downtown Charlottesville is less than 20 minutes away for restaurants, nightlife etc. As for the campground itself - it's small which makes it fairly quiet and relaxing. Campsites are varied - we liked our spot #21 - there are quite a few large pull through spots if you have a larger rig. The bathhouse is one of the nicest I've ever seen in a campground, camp store has lots of things in stock if you forget anything. There's a nice nature trail to walk your dog or just stretch your legs (but if you have mobility issues don't try it since there are a lot of roots and some steep hills!) You feel like you're miles away from civilization (but you're not!) - we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Follow the directions they give to avoid the twisty narrow road to get here - there is a better road to take. Oh and they even have a wonderful local dog sitter who will come and walk your dog if you are out for the day - definitely ask for her, her name is Susan. We will definitely be back!Nearby activities: We loved Potters Cidery not too far away, Monticello is a great day activity (leave a few hours for this and reserve tickets online ahead of time if you want to tour the actual house), check out downtown Charlottesville - recommend Farm Bell Kitchen for brunch.

Stayed 2 nights in a small cabin on a motorcycle trip. Convenient to stores, Monticello, wineries and activities. Campground was quiet and relaxing. Storm came through and knocked power out to the cabin overnight but no biggie. Staff was friendly and appeared attentive to camper needs. Would stay again if I was riding through the area for photographing.

This was the first KOA we've stayed in. We were going to Monticello so it was close enough to ride our bikes. The staff here is great. She works hard to put people in spots for the time requested and in sites that fit their rig.The sites are a good size, almost level and they're positioned so that you have privacy. The maintenance staff does a great job of clearing the trees for big boys coming in. Nothing ticks me off more than having tree branches scrape along the side and roof of my motorhome. The showers and restrooms look like they've recently been renovated. For those of you that use the shower facilities, you'll love these. You get your own room with a shower, toilet and sink.I walked by the pool early morning. I wasn't sure if it was open. What was highly strange was the barbed wire that ran around the top. I really don't know the purpose of that because it's on top of a 6 foot fence. They have wifi for those of you that need it. I logged on one night for the sake of this review. It was good enough to stream and get a crisp clear picture. They have a volleyball ball net, horseshoe pit, tether ball and a big bouncy pad for kids. They lose a star due to the fact that the recreational equipment listed above is really dated. It doesn't take much money to buy new stuff. It is somewhat high in price. But the staff was mentioning that the wifi and electric in that area is expensive. If you're looking for a site in this area, this is a good one.

Our first stay here in the spring and this campground is so lovely! We got a pull thru patio site with our 32’ trailer and the site was so spacious and clean. Loved the small, quiet, and serene campground. Not packed in like sardines like most KOAs. Hiking trails, game room, volley ball, and fishing, and a jump pad.Other non-patio sites had a plain fire ring, a picnic table, and well maintained gravel. They had it all! Def will be back!

This was my first time booking one of KOA's small cabins & my first time at the Charlottesville location. Cabin was clean & cozy - I was really impressed with it TBH. I had a late arrival and the staff taped a map with clear directions to my cabin for when I arrived - they also called me and let me know they would be doing this - great communication from KOA (as always)! Pool was lovely, surrounded by trees! Campground is small and easy to navigate. Staff was super helpful at the office several times! All in all a great stay at this location & will likely be back next time we are in Charlottesville!Nearby activities: Campground is closely located to downtown Charlottesville - less than a 15 minute drive to most attractions.

We stayed at this KOA July 1st - July 5th and I must say that this was one of the nicest KOA's we have stayed at. The location was great, the spots were huge, even the smaller spots were large. The only downfall was that the pool was a bit far from the campsites, and was a bit run down. Also, the walking trail to the fishing spot could use some TLC; it was very hard to walk through grassy brush so if that is a trail I was not impressed with that. Great restrooms and shower and very clean. I would recomment this KOA to anyone seeking a spot for camping.Nearby activities: Charlottesville and Blue Ridge Parkway Skyline Drive was so close it was convenient. Monticello was also very close. Walton's Museum was pleasant but not worth the money.

We loved our stay here. We camped here with another couple with kids and they were able to put us next to each other because I called ahead to ask and they followed through. The sites are spacious, well shaded, and the hookups were conveniently placed and worked perfectly. The woman at the front desk was courteous and helpful, and the campground is quiet. Its close to many wineries, cideries and a distillery. The nature trail is the perfect length for a walk with the kids and dog. It rained while we were there and the site drained well. The firewood is kiln dried and the store had the pancake mix and syrup we forgot to bring. We'll be back

First time here and we're really impressed. The customer service, from booking to check in and purchases at the store. The bathrooms are the cleanest campground bathrooms we've ever come across. The sites are well spaced, scenic, and really well kept. The dog path was a really pleasant surprise. We left feeling really spoiled and appreciative for a great space to call home for the week. Big thanks to the Charlottesville KOA Holiday, we hope to visit again sometime.

This campground is off the main roads out to itself. If you love being out in nature and just relaxing without alot of connection to the world you will love this place. The deluxe sites have very nice firepits and patio areas. The restrooms/shower house is very nice and well maintained. The customer service was excellent. The staff/owners were very helpful and friendly. If you want an area near to Carter Mountain and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello this is the place this is it.Nearby activities: Carter Mountain Orchard, Thomas Jefferson Monticello,

Ok this was not to the standards of a typical KOA. Pool was chain link fenced with barbed wire on top and green water,no mowing or maintenance around the volleyball or basketball area and the bounce pad was so dirty you couldn't use it.Not sure if they just bought it or it has-been neglected for a while. The signs look new and our site was nice. You decide...

Our 2nd visit. We love it here and will come back. Nice area. We have a toy hauler and bring a motor cycle and enjoy the rides. The campground is small but quiet. Sites seem level. We got the same site -not on purpose - as the last time. Bath house is very clean. We came in off Rt 20 and although it is curvy it wasn’t a big issue. Our camper is 30 ft long.

Beautiful setting. Great cabins. Wonderful place to relax and do nothing, but relax. Very small, not many amenities. Lisa in the shop was wonderful and so friendly. Recommend bringing your own charcoal, they don't sell bags. They accommodate pets, but have many rules listed. NO barking, no dogs in cabins, no dogs off leashes. Their "dog park" is a small fenced in patch of grass.

We stayed here in a tent site. The weather didn’t cooperate, but the place was nice. They have cut it down to 3 tent sites so there is no “tent village.” I gave it three stars because it seemed like we were the only ones camping but got the smallest site close to the road. That did cause a little stress with two kids and a dog. If you aren’t going to use a tent make sure it’s one of the bigger sites. The small one really isn’t worth it. There isn’t even room to park at that site. The pool is nice. The bathrooms and showers are kept up nice and very clean. The game room only had one game that worked and that was a pool table. The board games had missing pieces and the other big games were broken. The washers have a small capacity so bring lots of change if you need to wash. The kids loved the bounce pad. The staff was nice. If we had an RV we would stay there again.

We called them in a bit of a panic because our destination campground in Pennsylvania had called to say they had no power and many of the roads nearby were closed due to damage caused by hurricane Ida. Since we were already on the road from our home in South Carolina, and pretty far into our trek, we needed to find an overnight spot (the Thursday before a long holiday weekend.) The person who answered and took care of us couldn't have more more kind and helpful. We arrived, pulled right into our spot and had a lovely overnight stay. The campground is very quiet with lots of trees. Our site was private and roomy. The bathrooms were so nice-newly renovated and clean. Each shower was in its own room complete with a toilet and sink. We liked it so much that we decided that what started as a plan b, would be the way we do this trip every year!

Multiple night stay. Our original site was still occupied when we arrived (10-mins before checkout time) so we opted for another site since there was no place to park and wait. Young lady at the desk was truly a witch. As we were setting up she drove up and said we had to pull further into our pull through. I asked why since we were level, clearly not blocking the road on either end of our site, and we had room to lay out our rug. No, she said we HAD TO PULL further in and could only park our TV behind our rig. Made no sense since where I had stopped was perfect. She was adamant but when I kept asking why, all she would say was I had to pull further in. Set the tone for the rest of the stay. Park needs to TLC. Our site was gravel and dirt. Had shade, full hookups with cable but wifi was very weak. Bathroom/showers were clean. Store well stocked. Awful prices for a bag of scrap wood ($15) and it was so old and dry the entire bag was used in about an hour. Short hiking trail for your best friend and they have a small dog park. Nothing real close so bring what you need. We interacted with two staff. The young lady who checked us in aka the witch and an older lady who lives on site. She was very nice each time we spoke to her. Suggest management assign the young lady to clean the bathrooms cause her interpersonal skills suck.

This is a hidden gem a little over a half an hour outside Shenandoah NP. Exceptionally friendly staff welcome you to a woodsy KOA that has all the usual attractions but each camouflaged between towering trees. We visited in autumn with our 2 dogs and throughly enjoyed our stay. Our site was spacious and semi private. We hiked their nature trail each morning and evening with the dogs and enjoyed views of Beaver pond while appreciating the mutt mitt station along our route. A small fenced in pet playground allowed the pooches to run free and meet friends. You’ll find very clean private showers and bathrooms as well as a nice little camp store with souvenirs and snacks.Very well done! Thank you to our hosts.

So, read all the reviews in preparation for our trip. Was a little concerned After people stating there was no cell carriers that worked there. That the cable was nill and the concern of white knuckling pulling out by a blind turn. We tried to get into our usual campground last minute but no luck. We arrived and realized, yes, the place is outdated and not flashy BUT, But we had a patio site. The sites were definitely large and not on top of each other. The cell service (which I need to keep track of sons blood sugar) was probably the best we have had all year. The cable worked great and the blind turn was absolutely fine, you just need to listen to oncoming traffic and go. No biggie. For a primitive campground in a quiet location all was just fine!

Beautiful rural setting. Nice level site drained with fresh gravel. No problems getting in or hooking up. The private washrooms were nicely set up and maintained. We were early season with no kids but I am sure the entertainment options for them are just as nice.

Clean place, nice and woodsy, and a bit on the small side which keeps it from being too noisy. The family who runs it are very friendly, and keen to help you have an enjoyable visit. They gave us a bunch of tips about getting around Charlottesville with an RV.Every RV site has a picnic table and fire ring. Ours was not a particularly exciting site, and there was very little shade, but in their defense I think we got the last site available. They definitely have plenty of nice, shady spots. The playground is a little on the old side, but the jump pad was a lot of fun, and the pool was always cool and clean. I wouldn’t say there’s a ton to do at this KOA, but if you mainly want to hang out around your campsite and occasionally stroll around and do a few activities, it should fit the bill. One of the activities we did while we were there was riding a fire truck, which was probably the highlight of the trip for my two-year-old.One of my biggest praises is the bathrooms and showers. Everything felt nice and new and clean; if it wasn’t for the concrete floors, you may as will be using a hotel bathroom. Also, we were there over Labor Day weekend, so the camp was completely booked out. Despite this, never once ran out of hot water. Taking a shower was one of my favorite parts of the day staying here. 😅Easy distance from UVA, downtown Charlottesville and Monticello – all of which we did! It was a great trip. 👍🏻

The only reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five is because they say they have heat. Instead, they have a plug in heater that doesn't really warm up the room in the way that you'd want it to after spending all day in the freezing cold. So bring heavy blankets. A couple of them.Despite the cold, this place really gave us a great experience. We got a one bedroom cabin and it was clean and comfortable. They have cable and Wifi, but we didn't need it. It was $130 for the weekend, which, I feel like is maybe a *little* too expensive, but definitely affordable. The women's bathroom was very clean, though I did not take a shower so I don't know if those were up to par. The staff was friendly (and helpful) and the atmosphere was quiet and calm. This place is close to Monticello and an okay drive to downtown Charlottesville.I will definitely be back!

Nice, simple campground. Lots were clean and fairly well maintained. The camp store was small, but had the essentials you might need. The pool is nice and there are a number of different activities for families. The bathrooms were impressively clean and well taken care of, even over a busy holiday weekend. The only knocks against this place are that you can hear traffic from the road in some campsites and that there's very little outdoor lighting, so prepare for it to be quite dark once the sun sets.

We enjoyed this KOA the sights were big and wooded they were close together but not horrible. The dog park was small but worked for our little guys. The bathrooms were really nice and the game rooms was nice. They had a nice pool but they closed it while we were there so never got a chance to use it. You are close to Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We enjoyed going to the many wineries in the area and Michie tavern was a fun experience. The only bummer was no cable and not much antenna reception. When you go to this park make sure you do not go down 64 to Red Hill Rd take 29.

I had a great time at the campground. I was in town for work for 5 days and decided to camp at a tent site with electric and it was exactly what I wanted! The woman in the welcome center gift shop was amazing and so nice. The campground was very quiet, most of the day and especially after dark. Even though it rained I was really happy they had the pool available. And the bathroom/shower facilities were great! Very clean and well lit. Thanks for an awesome stay!

Rented a cabin recently here and it was full of bugs. Tiny jumping ones, long beetle types and ants. The amenities were not available. The pool was closed and we were not informed and the mini golf did not have clubs. The bathrooms are locked with a code which seemed very unnecessaryThe staff was stand-offish and suspicious of us. Asking if we were staying there and if we had a parking pass when it was clearly in the window.

Our family just got back from a week long stay at the Charlottesville KOA. We stayed in one of the two room cabins, it was very clean and cozy. The bathrooms were extremely clean and close by. The campground store has many useful items if you accidently forget something. It is close by to many stores, restaurants, parks, Carter Mountain and only about an hour from Shenandoah. Everyone was super friendly <3 Our family was very pleased and are planning to book our next trip in January :) We would highly recommend this campground <3
