Everyone on their payroll is so sweet, and their prices are very competitive.I brought my cat here to get a tooth extraction.They gave her treats, which she ate inside of her towel burrito. She needed blood work, and I heard her wailing from the back room. I also heard them gently consoling her.I got her back with a super cute bow pinned in her hair 😍I would highly recommend this place. They are so considerate and wonderful.

Dr. James is amazing. She took her time with our girl during examination, very kind, and thorough. My girl has some special needs and everyone at the office was patient and understanding of how to help her.

This place is great! I bring my dog here and she just loves the staff. I usually deal with Dr. Epstein, however he was off so I dealt with the other Dr. (I forgot her name), but she was very sweet with my dog. I really appreciate them being so nice and accommodating with my dogs needs. Price is pretty reasonable too.

First time taking our cat here for we though a sedated grooming of really matted hair. They were able to groom her without sedation and she is so much happier. Great communication and very helpful. Highly recommend!

My dog has had a long difficult journey with seizures, arthritis, and other injuries. Dr. James has been amazing over the last year and spends time after closing even to discuss how to help Ban. She discusses research and is honest. My dog still struggles but is in good care here. The staff is also helpful and super sweet with the pups.

This is not the typical vet for our dogs, but ours was closed. This office welcomed us in, even starting from the phone call to see if they were open. They cared about what was going on with our little guy, and they figured out how to slip him in between patients.Once we started the visit, everyone was so loving to our dog and informative and patient with us. Dr. Epstein was incredible - he took the time to make our dog comfortable so he could do the most thorough exam possible. He ran through all of the issues happening, gave us a consult on previous issues, and walked us through options for the current scare.I was completely impressed with this office, the whole staff, and how certain we felt about the next steps with our dog once we left. I felt much more comfortable than I have with any other vet. I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone.

I adore Dr. James and the team at Animal Hospital of Ivy Square! I adopted two senior dogs this year who had some health problems. Dr. James has treated them SO well for ear, eye, & skin infections, congestive heart failure, and more. She catches things all the time that I don't even notice myself about the dogs. Also, she will take every next step possible to prolong their lives. Meaning, I feel like she treats my senior dogs no different than she would treat a puppy--as companions deserving of a good, pain-free/lessened, long life. I will trust Dr. James 100% whenever she tells me "it's time" for my dogs in the future, because I know she will have done everything humanly possible for them. Highly recommend her and her team!

Animal Hospital of Ivy Hill has spayed & neutered many cats for us and cared for a few sick ones too. The care the cats received from every person involved was phenomenal. From the front desk to the vet techs to Dr. James everyone is kind, compassionate and professional. I knew our precious felines were getting the best of care, all the cats the went through their hospital flourished! I highly recommend Animal Hospital of Ivy Hill, truly one of the best!

Dr. Epstein went above and beyond to work in our sick pooch at the last minute and then came in on his day off to perform the surgery she needed. Afterwards, he spent time thoroughly explaining her post-op management and preventative treatment options. I was very impressed by the caring manner in which she (and I) were treated by Shannon and Dr. Epstein.

My family has been bringing our pets to The Animal Hospital of Ivy Square since 1994 or so...give or take...and they have always taken the absolute BEST care of our pets. We wouldn't ever consider taking our fur babies anywhere else. Dr. Steve Epstein and the rest of the gang at The Animal Hospital of Ivy Square are like an extension of our family after all these years, and we love them. They treat our pets as if they were their own, and that kind of attention to detail and the hearts behind it are invaluable.

My Husband and I take our dog to Animal Hospital of Ivy Square and we have had great experiences there. Our dog is very timid and can sometimes act out for unfamiliar faces but the staff is very understanding and patient with her. We get prompt care and good advice that has been so helpful in raising our pup!

We have two very pleasing cats and our vet care for them is intentionally minimal. We simply want up-to-date rabies shots, fecal checks if we suspect presence of unwelcome parasites, and checks if our cats should seem sick or injured, which has never been the case their 4 years of life. Our cats always receive gentle and professional treatment and the only adjustments we'd like are too many emails of treatments due. We would prefer emails only when rabies shots are due.

Nice people who I think probably do a decent job, but after three visits and over $1000 I feel ripped off and a little mistreated.I made an appointment specifically about my dog’s chipped tooth because the website says “complete dental.” I paid $80 to be told that they do not handle chipped teeth. They told me they’d call me for referrals, but it sounded like I’d probably have to go to some special place out of town that I logistically couldn’t go to any time soon. They also never called with referrals. So I waited and worried for weeks about his tooth that I had wanted to take care of quickly.Two months later they call and say actually they CAN handle chipped teeth (?????). So I take my dog in again and someone finally looks at the tooth. He says he’s actually not sure whether it needs to be extracted, but they’d do an exam and decide based on X-rays. they end up extracting the tooth and when I pick up my dog I ask why they made that decision. Nobody there can tell me, so I ask to get a call about it. Instead of that, I am charged extra to talk to the doctor a week later when my dog comes in for his postop checkup, so instead of a 5 min call I had to pay another $80 when at this point I’ve already paid them $1000. I wasn’t warned about this and I feel like I should have been.I believe I paid more than I should have if I were given information I requested over the phone, and more than once I was waiting for a call that I never received.

I adore the staff at Animal Hospital of Ivy Square. They are very kind and caring to my pets, my children and myself when they come along for our appointments. They are very patient and even off coloring books and toys from the treasure box to keep them happy. I will recommend them to everyone I know!

For almost 20 years I have taken my pets to Animal Hospital of Ivy Square. As you can imagine, we have had many experiences together, and there have been some times and situations in which we did not agree. However, when I took the time to approach Dr. Epstein with my concerns, I do not remember a time when we were unable to reach a solution in which we both agreed. I do not entrust my pets to just anyone. Dr. Epstein and his staff have proven to me they are worthy of my trust.

Our poor sweet Bennie the cat was very ill. All at Ivy Square Animal Hospital was so AWESOME to him and to us. Always taken time to explain his condition and to call and check on him. Thanks so much to all of you. Bennie is doing GREAT.

I took my dog here after she tore the cranial cruciate ligament in her left hind leg. I was very nervous about having surgery done and had read good things about the TTA procedure. Dr. Epstein is the only vet in the area who performs this particular operation. During her surgery, my dog sustained a full thickness, third degree burn on her shoulder from the heating pad she was placed on. I had confirmation of the cause of the injury from three different vets, and yet, Dr. Epstein refused to accept any responsibility for the situation. He never offered any sort of restitution to cover her additional vet bills, which totaled more than $3000. He never even apologized for hurting my dog. This incident caused my poor dog a great deal of unnecessary pain and suffering, not to mention the additional surgery she had to go through to remove all of the dead tissue (the burn went all the way down to her muscle). It became clear to me that Dr. Epstein is more concerned with the bottom line than he is with the welfare of his patients. I will never go back. Never.

The staff at Animal Hospital of Ivy Square was very nice and caring about Annie-my 7 month old recently adopted kitten who, as it turns out has many problems. Dr. Epstein did a pretty complicated orthopedic procedure to fix-as much as possible her broken leg. After less than 48 hours she is up, walking on the leg a bit and doing all the things she did before surgery. I would have given 5 stars except everything was delayed-to some extent due to bad luck. First, couldn't get an X-ray when needed due to the X-ray equipment not working. Then couldn't get a blood test without sending it off to another lab, for more money due to another instrument malfunction. I was beginning to feel jinxed by the whole thing-but this does not impinge on the great treatment of Annie. Thanks everyone.

We tried this vet office after relocating to the area. Just overall didn't feel the staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming and the exam wasn't thorough. We've been to 5 other vets due to all the places we've lived and all have addressed whether or not our dog was a healthy weight, asked what food he was on, his exercise regimen, etc. and none of those questions were ever brought up by the dr. We will be trying somewhere new next time!

Quality of service I received was fine but we only went in once for emergency care and they would not stop calling, emailing, and mailing me stuff afterwards, even after going through their unsubscribe processes!!! Finally had to call them to let them know our dog passed before they would leave us alone.

Our cat had been plagued with a polyp in her ear for 7 years, though we did not know that was the problem. We have been to several doctors before going to Animal Hospital of Ivy Square, and we were told several rounds of exploratory surgery would be required, at an intractable cost.Dr. Epstein, however, used his expertise to quickly and accurately diagnose the problem, lay out a surgical remedy, and refer us to a great surgeon. Fermi is now a much, much happier cat - she is far more playful, active, and affectionate. We can not thank you enough.

The Veterenarians and staff are great. Highly recommend Animal Hospital of Ivy Square. The vets have the animal's best interest in mind, and usually look for the most effective, low-cost treatment before introducing/advising more serious treatments which is great becuase as we all know, check ups and health maintenance can be expensive. The staff is super kind to the animals and overall there's the feeling that everyone cares about the work and services they offer.

Never any surprise with this crowd. Reasonable prices on everything even medication (flea and tick). Always super helpful in getting vaccine data over quickly and easily.
