I like Food Lion, but this location is frustrating. Small, tight aisles, and it seems like they are always stocking and taking up space that is needed for customers. I still go here because it is very convenient, but I really wish I had another option close.

Awesome employees, but Food Lion has always been lacking co pared to others stores. It certainly serves the purpose, but there is plenty of room for improvement.

First off I want to say that the employees here are great. The problem my wife had today was with corporate. Corporate was visiting the store dressed in suits today and were treating the employees horribly. I mean belittling the employees! The butcher was yelled at “don’t be afraid of seafood”. The front cashier lead was doing everything possible to get help and even was using her cell phone to try and get a hold of an employee while she was on a register herself. A corporate rep asked where one of the cashiers was and was told they were in the bathroom and would be right back. They followed up with its not her break yet. You could feel the tension today to the point it was uncomfortable shopping in there. If this store has any issues it is obvious it is at the corporate level after my wife saw how they treat their employees. Publix is being built down the road and is known for treating employees well. I hope some of these good people find jobs down there. We truly feel bad with the way corporate treated them today. Anyone know who to complain too when it involves management visiting?

I'm never greeted but that's OK, we were stationed in NE so it's kind of a strange but sad familiarity. Some are nice so I can't discount everyone and food selection, including gluten free and Mexican (not Hispanic, no, stop, there is no Brazilian for example) is great!That said, there is one employee who does go a little beyond in the rude department. A young woman who always restocking the personal care items-she is quite unfriendly and wears wretched amounts of perfume. Perfume is quite a migraine trigger to vast amounts of people these days and can trigger those on the autism spectrum. Please think of those customers even if being polite isn't in the realm of humanity. After all, what good does perfume do if one is so unpleasant anyway, correct?

Every SINGLE time I come in here to buy something it’s expired! In the past there was tofu that expired WEEKS before. The other day went in to get supplies to make a charcuterie board right after thanksgiving and the salmi was expired by 8 days! How and why do you not see these things? The staff isn’t being taught to stock properly and it’s causing people to have to spend more money because things go bad faster. I can’t wait until the public opens. This place used to be good until this last year.

Always a positive experience at this food lion. All the employees are extremely friendly and reliable. Shout out to Dalton for always greeting me coming in to the store and helping me find stuff. He is a good element for Food Lion and has great customer service. 👍I own a restaurant and he always helps me out when I need something.

The shopping experience was fine until I went to the hot bar. It was a little after 11:00am so they were just putting the hot food out. So I picked up the container and looked over the food to decide what I wanted. I noticed that there was a fly sitting on the hot wings (the ones covered in a reddish sauce). As I stood there he flew on to sample other wings. A lady came over from the deli bringing more food out and I pointed to the wings and told her that a fly was on them. She told me that 'oh, they are everywhere'! I decided that I didn't really want anything from the hot bar EVER AGAIN! I mean she did not seem the least bit concerned.

You would think this foodlion would be better than those in the city.No way!The associates do not speak or say hello. I've waited at the customer area for 20 minutes before someone asked to help.Unfriendly and needs to be trained on providing good customer service.I rather go to foodlion in Newport news.

Mostly a good and pleasant shopping experience, the staff is quite awesome. Especially Dalton Parker, who is appreciated by customers and employees alike. I had to take away a star for the fact of inventory being placed in the walkways, which makes it hard to move around with a basket.

I’ve been coming here for years now, and I’ve come to know lots of the workers on a first name basis, and even consider some friends. I always look forward going grocery shopping knowing I’ll be met with smiling faces, but the one worker who’s stood out above and beyond is Dalton! He is very courteous and professional and you can tell he really is passionate about his customers and job. He holds the front end of the store together and really has everyone’s back when it’s busy. Give that kid a raise!!

Always very clean with excellent friendly customer service. My family shops here multiple times a week. Most employees know us by name. We have watched several employees start here as their first job and grown up while working here. As they have grown older they have also grown and risen within the store. This place has the feel of an old school neighborhood grocer. Same smiling, helpful faces year after year.

Used to love shopping at this location. Conveniently placed. Unfortunately they appear to be understaffed because whenever I go, I am forced to use self-checkout even when there is a long line and yet there are multiple employees standing by the self-checkout registers. But overall it decent.

I love Food Lion. And I'm thankful they are here. They are friendly and professional. kroger on the other hand has a rude management and they close at dusk. This is a farm area and people work at distances. You can't come home and cut your grass or feed animals. Then go to shop there. Because they close so early 9pm. Your greeted at the door by an employee telling you exactly how many minutes you have to get inn and out. They don't even turn there open light on.

The Carrollton location has been consistently well organized.I fell out of like for them at one time because that day they had put out employment apps on a table for customers to grab or complete; I went over and I heard one of the employees say to another, "I hope she doesn't fill out one."This location is predominantly non-black.Shopping for groceries was my mission at the time which was completed.

Angel shopped my order...she was fantastic! She was very thorough and helpful!! Also, there was a young man collecting the baskets in the parking lot. As soon as I pulled into the pick up spot... he stepped rt in and asked for the name on my order. He took initiative. Instead of having a "not my job attitude (as so many people have now a days)." I didn't even have to call. He was very helpful and friendly! I always love coming to the Carrolton Food Lion!! Best service and products!

Just went into the store for the first time since the remodeling. Really like the new look but wasn't in there long, just had to pick up a few items. I will say that the staff was very helpful with answering questions and getting a new propane tank. Looking forward to checking out the new setup in the deli and will let you know how that goes

The Staff is very friendly and helpful...I had trouble with the electric cart and was stuck at the back of the store. Several employees stopped to help me. and brought another one to me and changed my groceries over. .then,when I was checking out the same young man asked if I needed help out. I am very satisfied with the service at the store and will keep going back and I will recommend it to all of my friends. ....

So far I am not a fan of the changes at that Food Lion. It is always dirty. They just need to close and get all updates done at one time instead of in bits and pieces. Very dirty. The new bake potato salad and power slaw at the deli is way too salty. BUT the staff is very friendly and they have nice customer service skills.

Everybody loves they're hometown grocery sto- this one is mine. Full of my daughter's friends tho, every trip is a class reunion...but seriously, lovely employees, store is always stocked and clean. But please for the love of God bring in the little carts more often

Usually we have a great experience at our local Food Lion....What we love the most is the employee's are very friendly, helpful, and are always smiling.....That was not the case tonight!I went through a full service lane, and the cashier, "Nathan," was not friendly at all! I think he may have grunted, when I greeted him- not sure, could have been a stomach growl!?!?I understand, he could have been having a bad night, troubles at home, etc...but this guy never even cracked a smile! I was actually embarrassed by his rudeness, after my happy approach to him....Boy, did he shut me down!!😂I have never seen him before, maybe he's new?....But, come on....just a little smile, a little customer service!!!If I see him at a check out, I will either go self check out, or if I have a lot of stuff, I'll just drive on up to Kroger and earn me some gas rewards!!Attitude is everthing!Hope it gets better again, Food Lion is the closest and most convenient to our house.But I can't deal with rude, negative people....Life's too short!!

We've been using their instacart service during the pandemic. Generally speaking he picks of the shoppers are very good. Sometimes the substitutions are a bit lacking, but they do try. Occasionally, there is even real time discussion with the pickers who are trying to find something that we want. The curbside service is a great option. I'd recommend you try it. As I sit and wait for our food to come out I'm amazed to see so many people who are refusing to protect themselves and others.

I love this food lion! The aisles seem wider, it's cleaner and the employees are super nice and helpful. The best part is the self checkout kiosks! I wish this one was in Newport news!

The kiosk wasn't and staff didn't responded. Then while checking out, self checkout, the scanner was double scanning certain items so I had to wait on cashier no one was there and when he showed up he took off one item then left and said highlight the other double scans, but it only allowed me to select one. He came back over after ringing up the customers in his line and deleted one. I got home and I was charged for two of an item I asked him to remove. The store is next to my PCP and I don't drive across the James River Bridge often.
