What a great chance to pause on our trip to Hampton Roads. The owner brought sodas for the kids to drink, then took the kids on a tour of the vineyard while us adults enjoyed finishing a glass. The white Chardonnay had a crisp sweet taste. We will be back.

Here on a beautiful Sunday late afternoon detour after checking out homes for sale in the area. This one is off the beaten path but well worth the visit. Wife and I sampled all their available offerings and were impressed at the complex flavors of each. My wife is a white, stainless steel wine aficionado and I prefer reds. We both enjoyed ALL their offerings! The Rivah Red and Traminette are standouts; however, I recommend you try all they have to offer. Dogs are welcome and you can bring your own food. So quiet and peaceful here. Highly recommend a visit!

We decided to stop here on the way home from MD after stopping at two others nearby. This was by far one of my favorites! We met the winemaker, Floyd, who as amazing! He walked us through each wine and his thought bwgind each one. He was very personable and extremely patoent with any questions we had! We also had the pleasure of meeting both the owners, R.D. and Junghee, both so wonderful as well! They spent time speaking with us telling the story about the winery and their wines.The wines themselves were fantastic, our favorites being the sangiovese. Do not let he tasting room (which is also their production room!) fool you! They are adding on to the building now, and we cannot wait to see where they go from here!

I stopped by Caret Cellars after a weekend family engagement in the area— the funeral of my dear great uncle. I was hoping to lift my spirits before a long trip back to Washington, DC. Indeed, I left with lifted spirits and a smile!I was so happy I stopped. The wines were incredible as was the conversation with R.D. who conducted the tasting at a leisurely, friendly and informative pace.I ended up leaving with six bottles!!! My favorites are the Traminette & Rivah Red.I reached my Grandparents’ house at the halfway point home and we opened a bottle of Rivah Red and the family loved it!I plan to visit Caret Cellars again during a happier occasion, so I can fully enjoy the experience of their wraparound porch and beautiful views!

Idyllic, quiet, and remarkable. Make a stop here to sample some of these incredibly crafted wines. The Trimanette is something to write home about, so get a bottle or two or three. Much more complex than your typical sugary trimanette this one is delightful! I was also very enamored with the reserve Chardonnay, and my party loved the Sangiovese, which is hard to find in Virginia. I would love to come back and try the white merlot, and everything else they make. We're told their sweet Rivah Red is a local favorite. Can't beat the tasting price, plus it's dog friendly indoors as well, which is amazing! Can't say enough good things. Perfect detour right off rt 17. Will be back!!!

We’re not huge football fans, so we came during the Super Bowl to have a relaxing time to ourselves and Caret Cellars turned out to be an excellent choice. While we’ve toured most of the wineries on the Rappahannock county side of the river, we hadn’t been to any on this side of the river yet until today. If you’re a fan of crisp wines you’ll be very pleased; personally I’m not a fan of strong pepper/oak flavours and both the red and white offerings here were delightfully balanced. My favourite was the Bay Blu, semi-sweet and wonderful to sip in their spacious tasting room. The owner was present and extremely amicable. We look forward to another visit!

I had a wonderful experience at Caret Cellars. We spent the weekend at the tentrr site at Sleigh Hill (also highly recommend) and the winery is right across the street! RD answered all my questions and allowed me to sample a few wines before purchasing. Great local winery off the beaten track. Also, it’s dog-friendly!

RD, the owner of Caret Cellars, greeted us immediately with a welcoming smile. He was extremely knowledgeable about wine and those he poured for our 8 varietal tasting. Great stop on our scenic Route 17 tour back to Hampton Roads. Cheers to great wine! Super Tuscan 2014 is a great suggestion.

Love this winery! Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. Love the Rivah red! Atmosphere was great very inviting. Also dog friendly. The owners were awesome. We will definitely be back.

Wine wasn't the greatest, tasting room is a garage, no patio or area to relax and enjoy a nice glass. Cheap mismatched furniture, wasn't impressed which is sad because I live in Caret and was really looking forward to bringing friends and family with me. Planning on visiting again and hoping to have a better experience.
