Clean laid back beaches. Lots of room to spread out and at low tide you can walk 100s of yard out into the crystal clear water. There is a fishing pier you can fish and crab from as well. The shanty dock bar is a short walk away and there were ice cream trucks along the street.

I think this has become my new favorite beach!!I don't have a dog, but noticed how super dog friendly this area is.The waves were shallow and the beach experience is awesome!Super cute retro nostalgic down town, walkable distance from the beach.Huge fishing ramp - great for wheelchair users.

So beautiful! One of my absolute favorite spots! I actually took the time to take a few pictures this time. From the drive out there to the actual area itself, it’s just absolutely worth it!

Great beach for families with small children. This is the Chesapeake Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean so the waves are very small; no bodyboarding or surfing- SUP and skimboards work well though. There is also the occasional oyster shell sticking out of the sand so be sure to wear surf shoes or sandals if you’re down at the beach. Dogs aren’t allowed on the beach during the day (9am-9pm). Lots of restaurants and storefronts. Rent a golf cart for ease of transportation.

Loved it!!!! I parked on the side of the road for free and walked right over to the beach. I felt like I were at a private beach. The sand was so white and dense. The beach was convenient to restaurants and parking. I will definitely come back again.

What a hidden little gem of a place! We stopped off here on our way home from Ocean City and I really wished we had stayed for a few days in Cape Charles. Beautiful beach with no waves which makes it easy for this water neurotic mama to relax while there with kids. Every mom knows the terror that comes with bringing kids to the beach!The town itself is idyllic and picturesque dotted with quaint little boutiques and restaurants.If I could move here I would!

Our family’s favorite beach! The water is calm, warm and clean. This is a family friendly beach with many great local restaurants and shops.Just be mindful that there is no boardwalk, so make sure to pack food and drinks. Shops nearby are lovely privately own and as far as I know they don’t offer delivery service to the beach.

Cape Charles Beach is absolutely beautiful. It wasn’t crowded and everyone we passed was so friendly. It’s a natural beachfront so you’ll see the normal wash up. We saw some fishing, some with beach chairs and others just walking around. It was a peaceful and pleasant trip. We will definitely return.

Arrive 15 minutes before sunset to get the most breathtaking photos. Or just hang out all day and soak up the rays. It's up to you, you'll enjoy yourself no matter what.

Quite little town with great food, beaches and quaint unique shops. The beaches are great if you have little ones, low waves, lots of wading pools. Fishing peir near beach. Great sunset views.

everything about this beach is great. The pier is well-maintained and if you walk to the end you get to see great views of the bay. The Beach area is nice there's small rolling waves and the water's not too deep allowing you to walk quite a ways out.

It was great. Scenery was beautiful with a lot of small town shops around the strip. Pandemic was going on, the beach wasn't crowded. It was quiet and serene for the most part. If you have small kids, there is plenty of shallow beach, you have to go out pretty far before it gets 5' to 6' feet deep. Oh and you will find plenty of shells to take home. Beach was very clean.

Nice quiet town on the Chesapeake. Beach park provided easy kayak launch. Restaurant and bar prices are a little high but the eastern shore is pretty isolated.

We loved the beach at Cape Charles. In low tide, it's a toddlers paradise as they can safely wade in the water. My elementary kids enjoyed floating in the Bay and building sandcastles. We enjoyed the clean beach and easy access to the water. Parking is free.

Great pier on the beach. The water is calm. Not super busy. The only downside is the water was pretty shallow even out by the buoys.

What a great hidden beach in a quaint town! The sand is fine, the water shallow and because it's the bay side there are no waves. The latter makes it perfect for kids as they won't get tossed around. There's parking along the street and locally owned restaurants in the downtown area. We made a quick stop to check it out on the way home from Chincoteague, but we'll be sure to plan a day or two out here!

If you're looking for an uncrowded public beach on the Chesapeake Bay, this is an OK place.Pros - walking distance from most summer Renta homes in cape Charles, small crowds, sunset.Cons - smell of sulfur in the air, shallow and warm water.The beach and water were clean. I visited about four different times during a week in August, and there's a smell of sulfur in the air. It was nearly intolerable one day, but the other days it was less noticeable.The water is shallow and gets pretty warm during the day. Don't go here expecting any big waves - there are none since it's the bay.The sunsets are beautiful since you have a clear view of the horizon to the west.

I love it here. No big waves and not a lot of people. It's clean and beautiful. Great place to relax. Near by shops and places to eat. This my type of vacation. Kids like here also.

All the years I have traveled down the coast I have never stopped in Cape Charles. Finally did and it did not disappoint, friendly little beach town that is wonderful to walk around. The beach is clean (offseason) and would have received a 5 star review however the public restroom near the Love display is half broken and fully dirty. Come and visit this wonderful beach town, just use a restroom elsewhere.

Awesome beach to visit with anyone. This is by far our favorite beach to visit and we travel hundreds of miles each year just to stop here. The beach is always very calm and never crowded like it would be at a major city like Ocean city or Myrtle Beach. The town here keeps the beaches very clean an the water is always calm which is great for kids. And the town gives a fishing license to everybody who visits and fishes off their pier which is amazing. I highly recommend this town and this beach. Wouldn't wanna go or be anywhere else. Keep on rocking

August 18th 2019.Got there around 9:30am on a Sunday. Beach was perfect. Was able to walk all morning and talk. Watched crabs from the docks, scooped up baby jellyfish from the water, even watched a group of people baptize one another. Great place to get lost in time with someone. At the end of the visit, I asked her to be mine....and she said yes😁

You must eat at Shanty' and get ice cream at the Brown Dog! Theres a free fishing pier and lots of fishing places. And YOU MUST go hangliding! The guys at Virginia Hangliding are awesome.
