I have to thank Dr Higgins, the front office staff and vet techs working here for seeing our 14 year old ‘pup’ while vacationing in the area. They were not only compassionate and understanding but also both proficient and efficient. Although the vet had morning surgeries and scheduled appointments, the office was able to fit in our dog and at least two others for emergent issues, still taking plenty of time do do a thorough assessment and answer any questions we had. Wish this was our hometown so this could be our full time vet!!

Update: they even called the following day to check on my pup! Highly impressed!While camping at Cherrystone campground my Beagle mix, Charlie began to not feel good so I made the trip to Cape Charles Animal Hospital and everything was great! Quick diagnose, service, and super reasonable on prices!! If I didn't live 4 hours away I'd make this my regular vet! 😁

We are camping at Sun Properties/Cherrystone. Our 10 week old 2 pound puppy jumped off our couch and is limping. I contacted this vet seeking help. Rather than following the Hippocratic oath they refused to see my puppy. Old me to go to Virginia Beach and hung up. We are actually considering a permanent move to the area and will reconsider given this horrible experience. Absolutely shameful.

Our family was camping in the area when our puppy started to have some issues urinating. The office got us right in the same day to see her. All staff were friendly and professional. Dr Higgins was able to diagnose and treat the problem along with giving further direction for what the next steps were if not resolved. I hope we don’t need another vet visit in the future while away from home. However, we would definitely go back to Cape Charles Animal Hospital.

Very good animal hospital!! They helped me out big time!! My 13 year old black lab had cancer and my usual vet was so fast to jump right to having him euthanized but Dr. Higgens took time to talk to us and make sure there were no other options!! Cape Charles is my home town, my mother suggested them for me!! Thank you Cape Charles Animal Hospital!!

In the same day our 7 year old bulldog and our 20 year old cat had vet emergencies. We were waiting at the door when the vet hospital opened. The staff was immediately responsive and Dr. Higgins made time in his schedule to see both of our pets without an appointment, even though he clearly already had a busy morning scheduled. Our pets needed blood tests, x-rays and even a minor surgical procedure. They were promptly taken care of, and although the diagnoses were not as we had hoped, Dr. Higgins was thorough, patient and compassionate throughout the process. When we received the bill, the cost way well below what we have paid at other veterinary hospitals. I would never hesitate to entrust the care of our beloved companions to Dr. Higgins and his excellent staff.

We were at Cape Charles on vacation, just me and my Diva Dachshund, Miss Molly. I'm pretty sure that the beach was pretty rough on her especially as deep as the sand was and her little legs and her fat little belly struggling as they trying to plod ahead. Anyway she came up limping the next day and this being my baby I didn't hesitate to go looking for a veterinarian in the area when I stumbled across the Cape Charles Animal hospital. I went in carrying Miss Molly in my arms and explained the situation and was told that they had "no room at the Inn". I almost became belligerent but another lady behind the counter came to my rescue, well Molly's rescue and next thing I know Molly was being treated by the doctor who just happened to be a graduate from Virginia Tech. Now I'm a Tennessee fan but I've lived in this area long enough to know that the veterinarian school of Virginia tech is top notch and that Molly's own Vet has a deep emotional relationship as well as physical ties to the vet school. actually, I think her husband is the director of some ...anyway doc took her to the back for x-rays and took care of my baby and right now she is resting comfortably and I will never forget the honest to goodness hometown feeling that I got from the Cape Charles Animal Hospital staff, yeah, including the initial receptionist. she was just doing her job. Five stars isn't enough so I'll give it five and a half plus 100. Thank you for taking care of my baby.

I moved from the Eastern Shore to Hampton VA a year and a half ago and drive to take my dog Rahrah to see Dr. Higgins and his wonderful staff. Very professional and friendly, I have a pit bull and every vet in my in my area insists on using a muzzle! They have never done that here.

Our show dog Gabby, decided to embed her head into dog beach at Cherrystone RV Park... They couldn't get us in that day but referred us to somebody that could flush her ears, but two days later we needed to get in there because I knew she had an infection. They fit us in and were wonderful with our baby! Dr. Nate is second to none when it comes to being a great Vet! Since we will be back here next year we will look forward to NOT seeing them again because she will NOT get sick again! In all seriousness we are glad we have a relationship with them now, just in case she does get sick! Thank you Dr. Nate!

I was in Cape Charles for my wedding weekend. While trying to tire out my pups, my dog cut her paw open on an oyster shell on the beach. In the chaos of everything happening that weekend, a visit to the vet was not easy to fit in to my schedule. I called the Cape Charles Animal Hospital and they quickly fit me and my pup Murphy in on an already busy morning. The staff was wonderful and vet was extremely efficient and took care of my pup with minimal stress to her. He even matched her bandage to our wedding colors because she was our flower girl! I would highly recommend the Cape Charles Animal Hospital.

My husband and I were so fortunate to have Dr. Higgins and his staff take care of our boxer. We were 5 hours from home, vacationing in Cape Charles for the week, when Thor started vomiting and stopped eating. He ended up needing surgery because he'd ingested something that had caused an obstruction. Not only were we comfortable leaving him at the hospital, we were incredibly pleased with the outcome. I have a 13 year old, 65 lb. Portuguese Water Dog. He snapped his ACL. That's bad for a large dog and can mean the end. Its incredibly expensive. Dr. Higgins guided us through it with unbelievable results.Recently we found out our senior citizen had severe gingivitis. It required oral surgery. Dr. Higgins estimated between $500 and $750(you don't know how many teeth need extraction). We had 1 tooth removed; $590.Pet health has gotten very expensive. It's great to have Dr. Higgins here.
