Today, I came into the store for items to help my dachshund that was mauled by a large dog last week. Julio greeted me so kindly and has a big heart. He helped me find what I needed. When making a return and purchasing another item, he took the time to find my account that was not there. You have an excellent employee and he made a sad situation barrable.Please let him know that I so appreciate meeting him and thankful for all his help.

I hate leaving bad reviews but honestly I was highly disappointed with the professionalism at this store. I have shared a before and after picture of my puppy from her very first grooming. I don’t think they train their employees on how to groom because WHAT IS THIS?!?At pickup her nail weren’t clipped and she smelled like she wasn’t bathed. They also nicked her and neglected to inform me. I came back and complained to the grooming manager (he was polite) and he sent me to the store manager. The store manager proceeded to question me…I felt like I was being interrogated. She rolled her eyes multiple times and just had the worst attitude. She asked why I didn’t bring the dog back? She also stated they always clip nails and bathe the pups and proceeds to tell me that the employee that groomed my dog is the best groomer and never gets negative feed back…which was definitely a lie. I checked the reviews after, everyone was complaining about the same person. My puppy is now traumatized and hates being groomed thankfully we’re working with a great groomer now..NOT at petco.

I got my service dog groomed with Petco for the second time. They did a great job on his cut and followed through with what I wanted. Quite disappointed on his smell when I came to pick him up; having to give him a bath not too soon after his groom there was not what I was hoping for.

Just left here a few min ago and I had to leave a review, I havent left the parking lot. Excellent customer service even though they were a few min from closing, I was helped as if I was the first customer in the store, my cashier was the shining star of the whole encounter. I believe her name is Judy (sorry if I'm wrong bad with names 😅 Diego also was a great help with my things to my car. This location Highly recommended!

I went to a petsmart only to find a half dead betta with ich I proceeded to ask to just take him off Petsmarts hands, I got met with the manager shaking the cracked, dirty, filled with rotten fin rot cup with the fish in it and say the best they could do is a 5% discount.My bestie and I proceeded to run to this petco, a great one. The aquarist worker helped us immensely to provide us the information we needed to help him heal.Best petco in the area.

Please don’t get your dog’s hair cut here. I paid for a bath and hair cut. When I picked my dog up, they did a terrible job. I will include the picture. The worst part is that they didn’t give him a bath. When I called and questioned they about the bath they stated that they “forgot” to give him a bath. Please don’t trust them with your pet.

I went in to collect food for my snakes and went over to the ball pythons enclosure and saw several disturbing things: snakes humidity at 30%, snakes being inappropriately cohabbed (4 to 5 per enclosure), stuck shed for multiple snakes which covered their eyes, visible mites underneath scales, highly emaciated, and worst of all, a snake being cannibalized in the back of the tank. I love this petco location especially because they always have grooming appointments available sooner than other locations, groomers there are excellents 👍 I highly recommend this business 👌

This particular Petco feels like a time capsule due to the decor and it’s nostalgic 🙂 Plus the staff here was incredibly friendly! I just moved to the area and I’m glad this will be my local Petco

I’m increasingly disappointed with the lack of customer service and awareness in the store. Buying crickets takes 30 minutes as there is no one to help you. And when you ask the employees all seem bothered. The advice given about how to care for lizards is not valid, and can actually be harmful if followed. Was also overcharged for dog grooming recently and had to talk to a manager about a price swap when picking up my dog.

pet enclosures were extremely small and absolutely filthy. the ferrets had like barely any bedding and what little bedding they had was covered in feces. this is animal abuse and i hope whoever owns this petco is ashamed.

A picture is worth a thousand words, right? Check out these!This is the level of customer service that we get when we come here. I absolutely love how friendly the staff is and how well organized the store is.They went above and beyond making Sweet Baby Ray (that's my dog) feel so welcome. They gave him a treat, and even when he put his flat face nose up at it- they went back and found one he thought was more tasty.Now that is investing in your customer. I wish I lived closer so I could go every week!

I recently went to this Petco to buy some treats for my dog. I knew exactly what I needed and where to find them in the store so I expected a quick visit. I could not have been more wrong. When I walked into the store I was dismayed to see a line stretching back quite a ways. A quick count told me there were eight people waiting in line for a single register. I knew this was a bad sign, but I needed the treats so I went to the correct aisle and found what I wanted. I was happy to see that a bag that normally sells for $10.99 was on sale for $5.49, or something like that. A great savings!When I went back to the front of the store, I passed a store staff member who nodded at me and then used keys to go into an office. I assumed he was the manager, and noted that he did not seem concerned about the long line or go to the front to help customers. I didn't see him again for the rest of the time I was in the store.There was still a long line but they were in the process of opening another check-out. The line still moved slowly, but at least it was moving. When it was my turn, there were two lines open, one with a woman working, and the recently opened register with a man working. I got the man. He did not greet me or say anything to me except to ask if I had a Rewards account. When he scanned the bag of treats, it came up at the regular price of $10.99. I told him that was wrong and he seemed flummoxed. He didn't say anything and we both just stood there for a few seconds. Finally he said, "Do you want me to go check the price?" Considering the fact that the pricing error was the store's problem and not mine, and that we were talking about a significant price difference, I said yes.He took the bag of treats and ambled off to check what the price said on the shelf. When he came back he punched the correct price into the register but the register indicated he needed a manager to do a price override. He looked over at the woman working on the other register but didn't say anything. Then he told me, "I need a manager to do this. Do you still want the price to be changed?" This simply floored me. Apparently he thought that I wanted to pay a higher price just so I wouldn't inconvenience him. I said, "Of course I do."He left the register again but didn't talk to the woman at the next register. When he came back, he stood by the register and didn't say anything. By this time, the woman at the next register had finished ringing up customers and had gone somewhere else in the store. He looked at me and said, "Do you know where she went?" WHAT?! I said, "No." He said, "But you were standing right here." I said, "I saw her walk away but I didn't see where she went." He said, "Why not?" At this point I am seriously starting to lose my patience and told him, "It's not my job to know where the staff members of this store are." He gave me a really cold stare, like I was the problem here.He looked all around, then started yelling the person's name. She came over, did the price override in five seconds, and that was all. She didn't ask either of us what the problem was, apologize to me for the wait or for the wrong price, nor did she make any effort to make sure the price would be correct in the system for any subsequent customers who might be buying the same product.It was by far the worst customer service experience I ever had. That young man had no idea what to do or say to make the situation easier. He was not proactive at all, and really didn't even want to be bothered. When I finally left he handed me my receipt without a single word. No "thank you" or anything. It was really appalling. I know stores need workers desperately, but hiring just any warm body really is not enough. Obviously there is no screening process for hires, and no training for those who are hired. I don't like being treated like I don't matter when I go to a store. I don't expect to be treated like a celebrity, but I don't expect to be treated poorly, either.

I get my dogs groomed at Petco in Burke every 6 weeks. The groomers are amazing! They seem to love the pets as if they were their own! Always a pleasant experience!

Overall, PetCo was old and dirty- some tanks are in a bad condition, so you hardly can see the fish.. But we were standing for 20 minutes and waiting for someone to come and help (we were planning to buy a couple of expensive fishes). When the consultant appeared, he was not friendly and told us they they are closing soon. I decided to leave and will not spend my money there. Do not recommend and will not come again.

The Burke VA store saved me a lot of money by letting me know about a closeout special on the kibble refill that I came in to purchase for my dog. While there, I noticed how clean the store was and how friendly the assocates were.

I want to give big box pet stores the bedient of the doubt, but seriously. Don’t buy fish at Petco or their other big competitor, unless you’re ready to spend a ton of money treating illness every time you add a fish. Friendly customer service, but I’ve had 12 fish die and or infect my tank over the last year.

Avoid this location's grooming section. Feels like a scam. I called to schedule an appointment for grooming and bath. When I picked up my dog, they stated my wife had said no to the grooming. Confused, I paid close to $70 for a bath and asked my wife when I got home why she decided to remove the grooming portion. She stated she did not and in fact, asked to add it because during intake, the groomers inquired if we wanted a cut as well. So I called back and asked why there was no grooming when we scheduled for one.After being passed around 3 different people and having to repeat the same story 3 different times, the final person stated it must have been a misunderstanding and that I could reschedule for another haircut, which would cost another $70. The entire time the employees implied it was my fault and that I scheduled him for a bath only, because that was what was written in the system. If this was scheduled online, I would state it was entirely my fault for clicking on the wrong option. But this was done over the phone and if it was a misunderstanding, I should not be the one paying for another appointment on top of having to set aside time to bring him back. Instead, they implied it was my fault by stating he was scheduled only for a bath multiple times.Fed up with this place and will not be returning.

Staying away from the grooming service at this Petco in Burke, Va. Because this store runs a dishonest grooming service, at least I felt I was treated this way.Yesterday, I was quoted at $67 for a basic grooming, aka, without nail- trimmed, ear-cleaned, or teeth-brushed, which would add another $12 each, for my little pup of 12 pounds. So, I brought her in today, BUT I got charged another $16 plus, when it is done.My experiences with all the other groomers across the country, since we have moved around at 6 different states and several regions, have been very positive, thus Petco at Burke disappoints me.Also, my pup looks like she was groomed by an inept person....ugly done.I felt I was ripped off totally.

used to be a LOT better... aquatic plant selection has been cut down, the bird room is no longer available for customers to enter (not the mention every bird has clipped wings). joe(?) the fish guy is always there when i visit, and he's extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all sort of fish. very good handler

I bought a Panther Chameleon from location #01723! I took her to the vet, her bone disease was so bad, she had to be put down! She had a fractured jaw, bad joints, starved of vitamin A that a abscess formed on her eye. The Gm of this location “Dennie” callousness was beyond anything I’ve ever seen before at a pet store! Do not buy animals from here or any other location! Save yourself the heartbreak that I just had to go through, and the empty response you’ll get for the employees. I will be bringing this higher than the stores and corporate, reaching out to any media that will listen!

I am a customer for the past 6-7 years and took my older dog for grooming. He has passed away in may of 2022 so I bought another dog which is a yorkie 11 months old name teddy! I got his second appointment for grooming today his first grooming went fine but today I told the person that was working there he might be a little aggressive if he bothered you please DONOT touch him but no he tried and shaved half of his body not the places that he needed and he started getting aggravated so he stopped , never called me to let me know and told us we have to wait for 4-5 hours! I went to check on him and the guy came out and said I am sorry he was trying to bite me so u couldn’t continue and left him that way. Ok my problem is when I told this person he might be upset and mad and if so don’t touch him why did he started shaving him all the way I. His back and sides only and left him in the cage till he picked him up! This place is a disaster and unprofessional for business to my knowledge after having pets for 40 years in my life please PAY ATTENTION AND Don’t go at this place. I am devastated by this service.

The employees at this store seem seriously undertrained and do not care about selling their products at all. On one occasion when I asked how much the conures were (the cage wasn’t labeled), the employee’s response was “I’m sorry I don’t know” and went back to manning the empty cashier line. After getting one-word responses to my subsequent inquiries, I gave up and left.Another time, I asked if I could go into the bird room to see the conures again. I was told yes by one employee but found that the door was locked. Another employee then tells me that I’m not allowed to go in, and by now employee #1 had disappeared. Employee #2 then rudely locks the door again- just for good measure.They must really want to hold on to their animals.
