Never had an issue with the employees. Some of you complain about the lack of knowledge of the employees. Well, gees, there's a lot to know there. I'm content to just get good prices on items and pay and go. Ok, I don't ask them a bunch of questions, but I already know alot. Yeah, I hear ya, now you're criticizing ME, but a lot of you strike me as chronic complainers and spoiled brats. At least give these people some credit for having a job. I've never had a problem with them. But I'm not a spoiled brat like some of you younger generation.

Rude and have no idea what they have in stock.---I called the store and asked about inventory of rocks I could use in a mix of bonsai soil. At first they gave me a very vague answer. "we have a type that's good for Orchids". I didn't ask about orchids but that's OK I can work with that. I then asked "Do you have any lava rocks or something similar?" He replied "I have a potting rock and something like lava rock." Then he said "well if you wanna come in to the store you can get a better idea of what you're looking for." Well I had called to find out so I wouldn't have had to waste gas to drive all the way out there and NOT find what I needed. I then mentioned this to the man and instead of just asking me to hold and going to check his inventory to be helpful, he asks me in a very impatient manner and with a bit of sarcasm "If you wanna hold I can go check to give you a better answer." Which if asked in a polite manner would've been acceptable and I would've had no problem holding. Instead I just replied in the same sarcastic manner that "It's fine, don't worry about it. Thank you." I suggest getting some staff that are more knowledgeable, but if that's impossible, then at least get some staff that are more helpful. You may have more luck than I did and may find this review as unhelpful as that man, but I at least wanted to attempt helping anyone calling the store for answers.

We shop here frequently, good prices, nice quality products. Would be five stars if their customer relations were better. Most everyone that works there acts like they are better than their customers and selling them products is a favor to the customer, it has been that way for years though. 🤷‍♀️

I can always count on Southern States with all my needs. They will help you with any questions you may have. They treat you like you're one of their own. I drive an hour just to get my feed from them.

Do not buy chicken feed here!!! I went a couple months ago and bought 2 bags of layer pellets- one was their brand and the other was organic because I wanted to start transitioning that way. I opened the regular feed and noticed it had a slight sour smell and the texture looked off but I was completely out of my other stuff so I went ahead and used it for a bit until I realized the whole bottom half was completely soggy. Threw over half the bag out and decided to go back to TSC's brand. I still had the organic bag (sitting in my shed with all the other feed - completely secure and dry) and decided to start mixing that in today. Open the bag and not only is this one also soggy & sour, but it also has some kind of larva all over it on the inside. NONE of my other bags of feed have had this problem despite sitting right next to eachother. Now I have to figure out what to do with a full, opened bag of unusable feed. I don't have my receipt anymore and I doubt they'll do anything about it now but I'll never spend another dime here.

Always buy my propane an garden items from them. Support the small buisness. There the ones that kept this country going. Big box stores have run the small buisness out.

They have about any kind of food that you want for livestock from chicken feed to cow and horse feed I got propane tank filled and I also fill propane tanks
