From 4/20/24Drove from Richmond to enjoy some lunch and music.My only complaint is with prices. Now of course it depends on what you order, but $10 for a 12oz beer in a clear solo cup is high. Our lunch total was over $100. A pizza is $15, a sandwich cost varies but my wife had a sandwich that was $23.Staff was excellent. We sat at the bar and our bartender ( Hannah) was awesome . The music by Ray Martin was excellent. The atmosphere is great being right on Lake Gaston. And the locals we met there were rather friendly and offered fun conversations.Enjoyed the experience but at these prices, it will not be often.

Great place to have a fun lake-side meal and drinks! We stopped by in our pontoon boat on a Thursday afternoon just after July 4th festivities. It was quite busy but not as crazy as it would be on a summer weekend. We had to wait 20-25 minutes to seat our party of 12, which is expected for a group that large. All seating is outside under the roof, so there was shade and fans, but it was outside, so account for that. Service was prompt and courteous, she took our drink and food orders quite promptly. We got our drinks pretty quickly considering the crowd that was there, but it did take almost 45min to get our food. The food itself was pretty good considering it's mainly bar food. I had the grilled Mahi fish tacos, and they were excellent! The atmosphere was great, very energetic yet just chill enough. They have a full servicebar as well. Overall, we had a great time there, got good food and drinks at a decent price, all while on the water. Highly recommended.

5* BUT!My wife and I went to Shady Shack for lunch. It's location is right on Lake Gaston and has great views of the lake. Parking is plentiful by the marina store. We sat at the bar and had a.great lunch. Service is very attentive, food is good and the atmosphere is superb. Now here is the BUT........ draft beer at $10 a pint is too much for this place, we are not in DC or NYC we are at a bar on the lake being served beer in plastic cups. Now that's my only thing about this place, other than that go, and if you don't mind a $10 pint that's fine. I run a bar and I charge $11 for a 32oz pour! Pints are $6 or 7. Perhaps take a look at your prices shady!Thank you though for everything else.Do not let this put you off, it's a great place. Just my opinion folks.

The best place to eat, drink and look out at water. Well worth the trip from Raleigh.I don't remember when I'd did the original review, but the Shady Shack is still a favorite on weekends for a great lunch with a water view.

I give this restaurant four stars for their food . The Wait staff gave very good service as well. We did have to wait a very long time for the food to come. Close to an hour. I realize many restaurants or short-handed these days. The quality of the food made up for the long wait though. They have a good selection of sandwiches and seafood and also a wide variety of mixed drinks and beer. The seating is outdoors with a fantastic view of the lake. It was a hot day when we were there but the ceiling fans and the breeze coming off the water made us feel comfortable. This restaurant definitely represents life living on the lake and what I was told, lake food.

Super packed on July 4th weekend. The service was great! Just give the hard working kitchen staff some time to get your food out on weekends like this. Live music was awesome!!

This is a nice grill and bar place that sits on the waters edge of Lake Gaston. They have live music at times, have great looking burgers, some beer on tap as well in bottles. It sits next to a sort of gift shop. The bartenders were friendly. I thought the place was cute. Makes you sad it close for the winter, but it is an open space place, so that makes sense and gives you something to look forward to when it opens back up again. I like the views.

We had a nice lunch at the Shack. Live music was playing and the house was packed. My sandwich was fresh and tasty. Improvements that could help. A shuttle boat at busy times when the dock gets full.

We ate there on a Friday at about 2:00 PM. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get seated (party of 5). That was understandable, due to the limited seating. However, waiting for another 10 minutes after getting seated for somebody to take our drink order isn't. Our waitress kept disappearing. I had to flag down another waitress just to get a refill on my son's drink. He sat there with an empty cup for over 10 minutes. The food was alright. We tried everything from the fish and chips, to the burger, to their turkey sandwiches. It was all just average. The kicker is that the food is very expensive for what you get. You're paying for the atmosphere. I'd recommend maybe doing it once if you've never driven your boat up to a restaurant, but I don't think that we will be going back.

Very friendly staff and great food choices. The fish tacos were delicious and the fries are so good! It's nice to sit out and look at the lake which you enjoy a beer.

This spot is a little bit of a hike for us, our house is located near Eatons Ferry Bridge, but it's worth it. The atmosphere is great, the drink selection is great, and the food is great. All of that is more than I can say for many other places in the lake. There's a good amount of boat parking, but you could certainly be waiting for a short time to get a spot.

We visited Shady Shack three times during the week. Plenty of boat parking and they also have a pay at the pump gas. They allowed our 2 Cane Corsos into the seating area, definitely dog friendly and brought them each a water bowl. Which automatically gets you a great tip. Their food is good and a variety to choose from. From the greeter to 3 different waitresses we had, were great, attentive and really friendly. Unlike a couple of other places on the lake. It's a cool, kind of beachy vibe. They have a store at the top of the stairs for all of the customary vacation merchandise.Parking: They have a free parking lot adjacent to the road and plenty of dock spaces for your boat.

Great little small town vibe bar/grill on the edge of the water. Food and drinks are both good but it’s the atmosphere that is amazing. Had karaoke the night we were there filled with the usual karaoke suspects. My 4 year old wanted to sing and went up signed up and the whole restaurant got behind her and cheered their hearts out for her. It certainly made her night and one she won’t ever forget.

Beautiful view but that’s about it. Waited 30 minutes to sit which is totally fine as they were a little busy. Ordered 2 apps and a kids menu item. 1 hour and 15 minutes later food arrived. Wings cold with a grill cheese and nachos. Owner came over and apologized, which is also fine, but you gotta comp something. I’m not going to ask for you to comp it, but you gotta do something…free drink…desert something. $60 and over 2 hours later here I am, won’t be back. Things happen, you get busy, people call out, but you have to take care of your customers.
