This is a unique type of campground. The location is pretty good, and it is on a portion of Lake Gaston on the VA side. There are quite a few bathhouses on the property for the tenters and campers with no showers or bathrooms in them. They are kept very clean and sanitary at all times. I enjoyed being at this campground for a quick weekend getaway. The only downside, maybe, is the limited amount of non fulltime sites available. Other than that, I would go back when the opportunity is available.

Good campground with plenty of shade and a nice pool. Only complaint would be had to use a non used campsite to get into the lake. There is no designated place to swim in the lake on the property. Kind of what I go to do. If you boat then it is ideal as there is a ramp and plenty of docks for you to use. Staff is good and the store is well stocked with what you need.

We loved for our 1st camping. Our guide to our camp site was so very helping me get our camper backed into our site. We're already booked for a return trip.Very clean restrooms. Camp store folks very friendly and helpful. We love it here at Lake Gaston.Nearby activities: Boat marina close by.

We visited a friend. There is plenty for amenities, and the staff were all very hospitable. Go there for a great location chalked with stuff to do: camping, swimming, fishing, concerts, family-friendly activities to include volleyball, horseshoe, basketball, and other festivities. If you are looking for seclusion it may be evasive, but if you are wanting to connect and be close to others this is perfect. I did not have a spot, but also likely lower priority in my preference as I like spacious campsites for less expensive fee. Not a bad spot, in fact depending on need or want this can serve the masses well.

This was our first time here. Everything was awesome. We stayed at a supersite near the office with a lake view which was breathtaking. There's alot for kids to do. My kids are 7 and 8 years old. They have a big pool over looking the lake, playground, game lounge, plenty of room to ride bikes/ golf cart etc and mini golf. The campground is well kept. Bath houses were decent, even the Porta Johns near pool and near the lake were spotless. We loved the entire experience.

We absolutely love this place. We started camping here 6 years ago and this year we got tired of towing our camper here 4 times a year so we purchased a permanent site and now we come and go anytime we decide to. The staff here are very professional and helpful. We love driving around in our golf cart dancing to the music on the weekends and attending the Church Services on Sunday’s

Absolutely beautiful, my dad has a property up here and it's a great getaway to relax and fish. The properties here come with everything including wifi for electric devices but being outdoors and on the water is truly the greatest experience for me, I look forward to my next relaxation visit!

Tent sites are basically in front of a trailer park, so you feel like you are camping in a neighborhood. Zero privacy. People who live there are constantly riding around on golf carts, you can almost always hear music & people talking loudly. The bathroom is up a long steep hill from the tent sites so if you are older, have small children, or have trouble walking, keep that in mind.We went to the pool & some lady was smoking cigarettes & blasting her music, no lifeguard or any kind of worker there to make sure people are following rules. When we did come back from the pool random people were sitting at our picnic table with their small boats parked at our campsite like it's a free for all!!

The pros: The staff are very friendly and helpful. I made the mistake of asking for a full hookup. The spot they gave me was not that nice when I should have asked for water and electric and I could have enjoyed the lake view (my mistake). The restrooms are very clean. The cons: Evidently many purchase a spot to permanently park their RV's and then build a carport and deck. Many of these are unsightly and take away from the experience.

My family went tent camping at Lake Gaston Americamps the end of July 2019. We were disappointed with the tent camping sites. Our site was uphill with loose dirt and rock. There was an area that just barely fit our 9 person tent, but we were sleeping at a slant. The slant resulted in us having to replace our air mattresses as they slid during the night. We also woke throughout the night with our feet hanging off the end of the mattress. The entire site is covered with rocks and large tree nuts. If you go tent camping here bring a heavy duty tarp for under your tent. The restrooms/showers are very clean. It is a bit of a difficult walk uphill with loose rocks to the restrooms. The pool area is clean and well maintained. Over all this campground is mostly full of semi-permanent RVs. The sites and very close quarters. The tent sites are marked only by their letter with no clear boundaries. Sadly our campsite had an underground yellow jacket nest. The staff were very helpful and quick to come to spray the nest and ensured us they would take care of the remaining bees after we had left the following day. They were waiting for us to leave to avoid injury to or swarm us. Overall the campground is nice if you are staying in the cabins and don't find close quarters, but I do not recommend tent camping here.

We stayed there all of last week and enjoyed our stay! The campground quiet all week, it has two bath houses that were cleaned often, a well stocked convenience store, a nice pool and lots friendly campers and employees. Apparently it is under new ownership, so don't let all of the negative reviews scare you away! I'm glad I didn't!

The tent campsite was very small and on a rocky slope with no real flat surface to pitch your tent. Also, the on-site bathrooms were quite far and up a steep hill. Walking to them with a 3 year old was a nightmare. They should really inform you of the bathroom situation cause if you have a young child, are elderly, or have a physical impairment it would have been a very big problem. This campsite is more like a permanent trailer vacation home site. It seems like they added some very small tent sites on rocky slopes to maximize profits.I would not recommend this campsite to anyone who would be tenting nor would I come back. Though, the lake itself is very nice. They need to level out their campsites and put some porta potties near the tenting area.

Still a nice clean campground, but staff in store were very abrupt. Was looking at a permanent type site. Was told you could only use it for so many days at a time, could not rent out, etc etc (so many rules it was overwhelming.) Campers and staff on grounds were amazing. Every one waved and stopped to talk.

My family and I rented a cabin this weekend 6/26/2020. This was a horrible experience! We are a biracial family, and due to that, there were comments made! People continued to stare at us every time we passed. Security continued to ask us if we were “ behaving” ? When we were simply sitting at our cabin grilling! The manager walked up to me at the campground gathering, while everyone at the activity were dancing, tapped me on my shoulder to simply ask if “ my guest were under control” and if they would leave quietly when the part was over! There were other guest such as the wonderful couple who were in the cabin next to us, they were wonderful and actually had family who worked there! Which were two of the few people who were extremely welcoming to us! We were told that we had were only allowed to do certain things, that we must return paper parking passes, and pay for our guest, however upon speaking with several vacationers, we were made aware that others were not told to do so! My brother in law, who is of Spanish decent, was almost over charged for something in the store until the kind young lady came out and stated” you know very well that item only cost... “ this type of treatment carried on throughout our stay, which is very disappointing because the campground itself was lovely! This is Unacceptable! We have never felt more unwelcome and disrespected! And the fact that the “Manager “ has been the one to ask those things as if she had been insinuating that we we're going to cause issues! And the manager who knew that another person that worked there had African-American friends and proceeded to come over the radio and state the young lady’s name saying that she thinks some of her people were coming on to the campground! Really? My family will NEVER return to this place! To the lovely family in the cabin next to us! Thank you for being wonderful people and treating my family like human beings! You guys are exceptional people!

Great group of folks that run this place. Wifi available but I was able to get some bars on my Verizon and AT&T phones. Some of these trailers have been here a long time, but I like the sense of community. Very welcoming to "the new guy".

This is a nice little get away spot! Pool, lake, fishing, play ground, and putt putt for the kids. They have events on some days too which is nice. They rent out cabins with AC which is a plus for us since our child was born with heart defects and has had multiple surgeries. We enjoyed it!

We have been camping at Lake Gaston with family and friends in July for the past 19 years! We absolutely love it. Americamps is awesome and the staff is always very helpful. We have enjoyed watching this facility grow, becoming more impressive every year. We will definitely be back in July 2021!

Very family friendly, they are in expensive about 53 a night and you can get a site right on the water! As I wrote this I'm next to my tent about 10ft from the lake! They have a well maintained campsite and the bathrooms are pristine! Love this place, will be back many many times in the future!!!

The staff are amazing! The campground is quiet and semi spacious but there a lot of permanent residents and no grassy areas(dirt and rock only) for a dog. Not bad for an overnight stay.
