Greatest place in the world for ice cream and lunch!! They have gas and slips so you can run up to the store, that has the friendliest staff ever by the way!! They also have a really nice patio facing the lake that you can enjoy your lunch on. O did I mention they have the best ice cream around!

Had a H/S Bass tournament there this weekend, the owner and staff were top notch they treated us like we were the best. We will be back next year to do it again there. Store was well stocked with fishing supplies. The fresh cooked food there was great and reasonably priced.

Our family booked a pontoon boat rental here for our trip to Lake Gaston in July. The reservation was made in March, and confirmed again in May. When we arrived in July, the reservation was nowhere to be found. This was extremely disappointing to our family, as we had planned an entire weekend of using the pontoon boat on the lake.This place seems like a shady operation that doesn't keep accurate records of reservations. You should not rely on this place for your boat rental during your stay at Lake Gaston. There are plenty of other rental establishments on the lake. Book early, as we were unable to find another rental on the same weekend.If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Their unprofessionalism has all but ruined the weekend for our three families visiting here. Don't let them do the same to you!

Rented two pontoon boats for a large group during our family vacation. Issue #1 was an air leak in the fuel line which caused the primer bulb to not prime the motor. All of this because of the ghetto rig, portable fuel tanks, that are strapped to the pontoons instead of an onboard fuel tank. We radioed the marina for assistance immediately. We ended up fixing that ourselves thankfully. It took us about 30 minutes to fix the issue and another 30 minutes to make it back to the marina to fuel up only to find out the attendant had just left the dock to come meet us where we were stranded. So 1hr for them to leave their marina to assist us, good thing we didn't drift into shore and had the knowledge to fix this ourselves. Mind you were not novice boaters either. Issue #2 came after we refueled and went to pick up our group again. Went to start the motor and it failed to start. Called the marina a second time and this time it only took 15 minutes to have the attendent meet us. Of course as luck would have it, the attended gets on the boat and it starts right up. The attendant assured us the boat was good to go. Headed back out into the lake right out from where the inlet to the marina because at this point we don't trust the boat. Shut the motors off and drifted for about an hour, fishing and swimming. Saw a storm off in the distance and decided we should head toward shore to possibly find some cover as it passed. (Since we had 3 kids under 6yrs old on the boats) Once again motor wouldn't start. So now we're stranded in the middle of this lake with a storm approaching. We ended up skipping the call to the marina and towed the 3rd time broken boat with the other pontoon we had. Got it into the shore and beached it near the marina, got everyone off the boats and called the marina again. This time another 15-20 minute response by the attendant. Attendant shows up and hooks a jumper box to the battery. Takes 3 tries for him to get the boat started and then tells us it was operator error. Sorry, you can't pull that excuse with this group. As he's telling us this the motor cuts off again. Without anyone on the boat except for him. It took the attendant a good 10 minutes to build enough confidence to "think" it may be ok to get back to the marina. Limp the boat back and they ask if we were finishing the rest of our rental. Explained we don't trust the boat, especially with children on board so no, we weren't going back out. The attendant says that he'll let us just return the boats and don't have to fill up the only good boat we had which was at half a tank and then gave us $40 cash back. So we spent $350.00 for both boats and were unable to enjoy all of lake gaston because the boats were unreliable. All we got back was $40. This was by far the WORST customer service I have received in a very long time. We should have been credited for the whole cost of the boat that wouldn't work right the whole day. Instead we got $40 and a sorry about your luck. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE rent a boat from them until they have customer service training and upgrade their fleet of boats. This was a complete nightmare of a day during a large family gathering.

We reserved two pontoon boats for our ONE day vacation, and one of our boats stranded us 3 seperate times and had to be towed in. It was a day that we have looked forward to for months, but ultimately ended up being an awful experience. We spent more time trying to get the POS boat working than actually enjoying our time together. There were several experienced boat owners with us, and no one could get the faulty boat started. The marina refused to give us any refund stating it was "user error"...worst customer service ever. We will NEVER rent boats from this marina again and urge you to do the same. Is your family vacation really worth the drama and headache of dealing with a piece of junk that should have been taken out of their rotation a LONG time ago?? NO!!!!!

Took a family vacation to lake gaston for a week, and holly grove marina just so happened to be 5 minutes away from our rental house. Our family being the typical tourists forgot to read the reviews before renting our boat for the week... Biggest mistake ever, our boat sputtuterd constantly and sometimes wouldn't start after 2 or 3 try's (sometimes more than that), after the second day we brought it back they said it was a loose air filter, we said ok and agreed to give it another chance. It continued to sputter and not start so we tried getting a replacement but there were none available, finally on Thursday the boat died. When we called our attendant out he said he we had hit something, he had a very angry attitude with us as he brought us back to our house. We didn't have the boat for the last 2 and a half days and had to struggle to get only 200$ back after paying 1000$ for the week. I advise you to NEVER GET A RENTAL FROM HERE!!! You will regret it.

It's a nice place but very very expensive but I usually go fishing down by the docks and I have been fishing down there in that spot for years and then today this guy that works there or something said I couldn't fish there but hey I have been fishing there for years so am going to continue to do just that
