If you love birds and excellent espresso based coffees this is the place to be. Great place to chill if you are on a road trip. They also serve ice cream. For the birdwatcher there is everything you need to start the hobby, supplies, maps, etc..

I love this place! It's such a peaceful stop & the coffee is fantastic. So is the ice cream! They have plants and windchimes for sale & so much more. Right off 85 it's a great place to stop, rest and treat yourself.

Delicious coffee, friendly owner, and a relaxing atmosphere are all you can ask for in a coffee shop. I’m sure it’s great for birders too — there’s lots of feeders and birding equipment on display and for sale — but we were here for coffee and ice cream and left more than satisfied. Recommended.

Enjoyed the coffee and talked a bit with the kind owner. I appreciated the warm firepit burning and inviting bird song wafting from their backyard. I understand they rent kayaks which interests me.

This was an adorable coffee shop off the beaten path! We were looking for some good coffee off i-85 and came across this place. Great espresso with a garden shop vibe. The owners were extremely friendly (and there was a tiny adorable pup!) Lovely to sit outside and sip your drink while watching the birds in the garden. If you’re looking for a way better experience than Dunkin Donuts just drive .2 miles down the road and come here.

My significant other and I stopped by one morning while at the lake. Clyde made such an impression. He was warm-hearted and welcoming. The man also knows his way around lattes and breakfast. We go to the lake every year hoping to go see Clyde. Learning of the shop closing breaks our heart. What a great spot with a great guy!!

What an amazing oasis to come across while traveling on I-85. We always look for local coffee roasters as we find the quality of the coffee is better than chain stores. Clyde has created a place you wish was in your hometown. Excellent coffee, fire pits to sit around and check out the bird feeders, a well-stocked shop for all kinds of things you didn't know you needed!Can't wait to go back.

Awesome shop, right off the interstate. Stopped by for a cup of coffee. I ordered an American and it was great. Really neat place. Had bird feeders/seed for sale, as well as coffees and teas. Really unique, cozy place. I was just passing through, but i wish i could have stayed longer. Thanks for the service, Clyde! I will make every effort to be back.

We searched for “coffee near me” on google, traveling south on I-85. What a wonderful find! Friendly people, a choice of non-dairy options for my latte, and something for everyone! You can sit in a cozy corner, play chess, warm up next to a fire on the porch. We will definitely be going back on future trips. Also, so happy to be at an independently owned coffee shop with warmth and character.

Thanks to Clyde for the great service and hospitality. We rented two kayaks from him and enjoyed a nice day on Lake Gaston. The kayaks were in good working order and the paddles were light. Clyde shared with us some suggestions on where to paddle and was prompt in picking us up. Hopefully next time we come, it will be post-Covid and we can hang out and have a coffee and enjoy his store.

My family and I happened upon Backyard Birds & Coffee one raining evening coming back from a trip. It was a wonderful experience! The staff was welcoming and the coffee was outstanding. We bought a pound of coffee and enjoyed it greatly. I will make this a regular stop when I am traveling. I highly recommend stopping by for a coffee.

This place is a hidden gem, absolutely beautiful place to visit! Enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the hummingbirds feed. Lots of beautiful plant life and other birds to look at. I definitely recommend stopping by for a cup of their delicious coffee! They offer Kayaking and birding tours daily.

Wonderful frappe, wonderful latte, and wonderful, friendly service! We were traveling from Richmond to Davidson and did a Google search for coffee on our route. We decided to stop at Backyard Birds based on reviews and are so happy we stopped. The Down and Dirty cookie and java chip frappe were favorites.

I bought my favorite coffee & bought a new tea while my granddaughter was given binoculars to watch the birds. She was so happy, it made her day! Clyde the owner was quick to point out the different birds and helped informing me of the best green tea. Always a delight to go there and to browse the bird feeders and all the goods in the store.

This cute shop is well worth the visit. The coffee is very good and the young man who made our coffee was very personable. My husband actually got a quad macchiato- something few other shops can do, or do well. If you like a good cup of coffee and a pleasant shop this is a must.

Hidden local GEM - the owner Clyde knows everything about plants and how to make a great cup of coffee - rare combination. He spent a lot of time educating us on the correct plants for our lake home. Bought a few cute bird houses and will be returning to try the ice cream next time and pick up a few more gardening tips.

Just discovered Backyard Birds & Coffee just discovered backyard birds and coffee. A wonderful stop on the way up or down I 85. I love this place. It’s absolutely fantastic love the outdoor fire and especially the Hamic I could stay here all day for days. I’ll be stopping here every time I travel this way. What a find!

This place is simply lovely. They have coffee and ice cream, as well as bird and garden supplies. I got an Irish Cream Cappuccino and it was so yummy! I also couldn't help but to buy one of their lovely, colorful wind chimes for my garden. I've never seen translucent wind chimes like they have before.This is a great shop and I can't wait to come back for more coffee, ice cream, and wind chimes!

A tranquil setting with a wide array of delicious coffee and teas. Beyond appreciate that there is a local cafe that offers a variety of herbal teas and non- dairy options; hemp, almond, and other milks.And they serve Hershey’s ice cream! (I’m a fan, even though I don’t eat dairy) since Hershey is from PA and near my hometown.Clyde and Joel are gracious, friendly and knowledgeable hosts.This is also a place to purchase all you backyard birding supplies, chimes and VA peanuts!A must stop for what will prove to be an enjoyable and worthwhile experience. What a lovely spot and a welcome oasis in a Starbucks desert. Good full-bodied espresso, friendly and efficient service. Space for large vehicles, taking a stroll, a cute bird-forward shop with plenty of curiosities for the window shopper. Right off I-85.

Cute little shoppe. Very pleasant service. Quaint and private sitting areas. Store setting with items for bird lovers, gift ideas and a fun indoor yard sale area. They sell Virginia peanuts here! Environment conducive to small meetings. Open Friday and Saturday's. Many followers on Facebook with 5 star rating. Outdoor seating for nice days!

Love stumping upon this gem in Bracey Va on our travels. The owner, Clyde, was very hospitable and we spent time chatting about his business over a great Cafe Americano while my kids enjoyed scoops of hand-dipped ice cream. He invited us to stay and lit a fire table for us on a brisk winter afternoon. It was the perfect rest stop for our road trip. We definitely will be passing through again on our trip back. Starbucks could learn from this Coffee Shop. Great coffee, but the aura of this place was unbelievable. Music, conversation, Windchimes. Awesome.Hard to see sign, but worth it. Very convenient...Just off Hwy 85 exit 4. East on 903 short distance. Just past Sunoco on Right.

The store was an absolute delight to visit! Upon entering, we were greeted by a very nice young man at the front desk. I ordered an oreo frappuccino and it was delicous! The store was set up beautifully, with plenty of gifts, candies, cookies, coffee and tea, and adorable stuffed animals for purchase. This was such a pleasant and unexpected stop on journey!

I had a chocolate raspberry coffee latte! Oh my, it was so delicious i did not even have to add sugar. Quaint little shop with lots of ambiance. Right off the interstate but takes you off the beaten path for as long as you decide to hang out there.

Great coffee and service. I was driving home from Virginia Beach and was desperately searching for something other than Dunkin Donuts. This shop was right off the highway. Convenient and a truly good cup of coffee.
