We are not from this area and just visiting for the day. The shoes on display in the windows caught my attention and we stepped inside. They were not the usual run of the mill shoes. Throughout the store they carry higher end brands and some more unique styles I have seen in stores before. The owner is very friendly and talkative. He likes to hear about you and where you are from. We had to wait a few minutes for help because he gives personal attention to each customer. I loved the pair of shoes I tried on and helped my husband with his Christmas shopping for me. They even offer wrapping if the shoes are a Christmas present, which my husband appreciated. If you are a dog person you can also visit with Scout.

My husband who lives in Redwing boots decided to get a pair of tennis shoes. Our little town only has 3 shoe stores, so the options are very limited.We ended up stopping in at McCollum-Ferrell shoe store in the downtown area. This store carries many if the classic trusted names in shoes such as Florsheim, Redwing, Sperry, and a few others. All of the shoes I saw there are expensive.Due to the tiny store size, options are pretty limited, in fact, there was only one type of men's tennis shoe in stock in the entire store!The brand is called ON, and they are a Swiss made running shoe. I personally had never heard of them, but according to the extremely pushy salesman (I think it was the store owner), these are the best tennies on the market. They are supposed to be a "slip on" shoe, but my husband wasn't able to step into them. Maybe it takes practice, and according to the owner they become easier to slip into once they are broken in. As far as fashion wise, I think the shoes are absolutely hideous. They are a horrible camo grayish green color, with a strange waffle like sole. But hey, as I am not the one who will be wearing them, if he's happy with them, then that's all that matters. These shoes are also supposed to be waterproof, so we will see how that pans out. The owner kept talking about a warranty, but would never actually state what that "warranty" on them was.The total price after tax was $180.66.

McCollum-Ferrell is rare find. A real shoe store offering quality products, excellent customer service at competitive prices. In a world of self service stores or online buying, it is refreshing to discover that there are still stores like this one.

What a pleasant surprise!!!!Their selection was wonderful and the styles were up to date. They had something for everyone! The sizes were fully stocked! Prices were reasonable. The best part was the customer service! He was honest about how things looked and fit even if it cost him a sale. His store mascot made the shopping experience perfect!Be sure to check out this gem of a shoe store in South Boston!

Bought a pair of boots for Christmas gift, she didn't like them and guess what? You can't return them. Their return policy is GARBAGE. You have to exchange your shoe or buy something else from them. These people are crooks. I would not recommend anyone shop here due to this and higher prices. So much for shopping local.
