I have one of the sweetest pups ever, EXCEPT when her nails need to be clipped. She then turns into a velociraptor/tornado. However, the owner and staff at The Village Groomer do wonders with her. Nails are trimmed in just a few minutes. Happy dog. Happy pet-mom. I highly recommend this groomer.

Absolutely horrible! Don't go there for grooming. If I could leave a negative star, I would. I sent my dog to this place for grooming because my usual place didn't have an opening soon. Dog came back with very uneven cut, and the cut was SO ugly. With my dog's thick fur, I don't know how they managed to give it such an ugly look. Also the dog came back very thirsty. They require us to drop off before 9am, and pick up after 4pm. When we picked up the dog at 4, the dog was very very thirsty. I doubt they ever gave the pets any water during those 7 hours. Absolutely horrible place. Don't go there, go other places even if you need to wait.Updated: after writing mine, I looked through other reviews. I think you should read the one review by Kaitlyn who used to work there. I really thank her for posting the honest review, and wish I had seen hers earlier, because that reminded me something. When I called to book the grooming, I heard in the background a dog hollering the whole time, a small dog by the sound of it. I could tell it was in so much pain. Poor dog, whoever it belongs to, I hope it is okay. I should have followed my instinct right then.

I was never called when my dogs were done, once I called they told me they've been in the crate for a while. When we got home after a short drive both my pups were drinking non stop like they had no access to water the whole time they were at village groomer. I would take my pets to another groomer, such as Fur on The Mountain or Main street. Also cost $70 for 50lb dog to only be bathed.

She was excellent. I was in hot water with my wife because I didn't get our puppy groomed before our trip, so I called the list on Goggle, and most said no. 2 even bothered to talk to me. Village said, "Bring her in by 9am, and I will work her in. She did work her in and did a wonderful job. She made her look like a perfect little Schnauzer. The Village Groomer is FANTASTIC!!!

Omg! I love these people! My dog, Bentley, is small (6 pds), so when I need an appt they can usually fit me in within days. They do an excellent job and Bentley is soft, smells good, nails trimmed, and happy when I pick him up. Excellent service all around and affordable!

We've been going to a big box pet store to do our grooming for years but have been disappointed with several visits not to mention how expensive it was becoming. We decided to give this local place a try. I was very happy with the outcome as well as the price! This will definitely be our new go to dog groomer from here on out! They made the process so easy, affordable, and safe! Plus our dog looks great with his new haircut and nail trim. It was also nice to see how gentle they were with him since he's a very nervous dog.

I just brought in my pup as a walk in nail trim and I am so grateful for how kind they were! After a bad experience elsewhere, my dog is extremely frightened of getting her nails done and hard to pin down. They were very understanding and able to trim them down very quickly. I just moved to this area and I’m a student, my Yorkie needed a grooming so bad. I called Village groomer and they got me an apt for a few days later:) they treated my baby like an angel, she doesn’t like to be crated, she shakes and screams the whole time, they told me they would acomadate for her so she was done first thing—Darlene is the best groomer I came back to my happy girl with a great cut! The prices are amazing. I will definitely be bringing my baby girl back. I highly recommend! Thank you Darlene and Village Grooming

My previous groomer moved and I really appreciated that Village Groomer took me on as a new client. My dog is big and energetic so I can totally understand that she might not be the easiest dog to groom, but I thought they were patient with her and gave her an overall great cut.

I brought my dog here after he got sprayed by a skunk, they almost completely got rid of the smell and made room in their schedule to help me out. Super friendly folks, and they were happy to help. Would go here again!

The Village Groomer was recommended to us for dog grooming and has been our go-to for years now. Darlene, Ken and Dustin always do a great job for a reasonable price. We highly recommend them!

Darlene and Ken groomed our two big dogs (lab mix and pit mix) right before Thanksgiving. They did SUCH A FABULUOUS job!!! I was so proud to bring them along to see all the relatives. My dogs seemed very relaxed when I came to pick them up. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these groomers!Thank you, Ken and Darlene. We will visit again before Christmas. :)

I personally worked there for almost a month and ended up quitting because I didn’t like how the dogs were treated. They’re very rough with the dogs and not at all professional. I seen the owners husband grab a small dog by it’s collar, pull it out of the crate it was in, and it hung there while he fixed the towel in the crate then he threw the dog back in the crate. I DO NOT recommend taking your dogs there.

I have a pug with the strength of an Ox if you get anywhere NEAR her paws. Even with 2 adults and some bribing treats, were lucky if we can get 2 nails clipped out of all 4 paws. I finally gave up, grabbed the phone and called this place as I’ve seen it for years, live within a mile of it and had friends who’ve used them for years. They told me to bring her on in. 5 minutes later, I have a “manicured” pug! Personable staff and the best $8 ever spent!

This is absolutely the best groomer in the New River Valley. I am a student at VT and have a Yorkie, and I am so happy with the staff here. This is the best groomer that I have ever taken her too and she always comes out looking so great and just how I had described. The staff are all so kind and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, would highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed!

Village Groomer is GREAT! Darlene and Ken are awesome! I have taken my airedales there for a long time. The airedales I took long ago have passed away, but now I have new fur family members and Darlene/Ken take care of my new fur family just as they did my fur family that has passed. I take my male airedale Khan more than the others to get a bath and groomed up b/c he tends to get his self very, very dirty. Khan always looks great, smells great and is always happy when it's time to go in with them and is the same way when I go to pick him up.I 100% recommend Village Groomer. The price is reasonable too.

I'm very very pleased how they take care of my dog. I highly recommend them. Even tho some people have had issues I took my chance.My dog has really bad separation anxiety and when I bring him in they know exactly what to do to calm him.My dog is a boxador mix.

I have taken my dog to this groomer twice. My first experience was incredible which is why I went back a second time. However, the second time not only was I greeted poorly, but my dog doesn’t even look like she was groomed. When I dropped her off I wasn’t greeted with a “hello or asking what I was wanting that day” the man jerked my dogs leash out of my hands and pulled her so hard that her collar came off...all he said was “be back by 4:30” then I pick her up and her back end still looks the same as I picked her up.... I paid $40 for I am not sure what kind of service. I will not be back and will quit recommending to anyone. It’s hard to trust people with your animal when they act that way right in front of you!!! I never ever complain and I’m not hard to please, but very disappointed with the service this business provided for me and my dog.

These people have grooming down to a science. They accommodated my heeler's mild dog aggression and gave her an effective de-shedding groom and nail clip 100% faster and better than what I've ever been able to do at home. The service we got was worth every cent of the (very reasonable) price and we will be back again and again.

Krysta and I have been taking our dogs to the Village Groomer for years. Ken and Darlene go above and beyond average service to make our dogs look like "show" dogs each and every time they perform grooming services. I highly recommend these folks; they're the best in Blacksburg and New River Valley.

I'm a VT student and have been taking my Toy Poodle here for about 1.5 years. The staff is great and always cuts my pups hair exactly how I want it! Highly recommend.

Just took my Bassett/ Beagle hound in for a nail trim and they were amazing. Having an abusive past he doest like to be overly handled and especially by strangers. They were so good with him holding him and coaching him through it. They also let me walk in and the pricees were fantastic. I will definitely go here over big brand petsmart from now on!

Our dogs (Shih Tzus) don't exactly love going but we know that they are well taken care of while there. They come back cut as we have asked. They have their nails done nicely and life is good in the household. I thoroughly recommend Village Groomers!

Darlene and Kenny are both great people! Service was fast, well done, and our little sweetheart doggie didn't mind at all. Where else can you get dogs nails clipped for $8 ???

After moving away from a groomer I loved I had to find a new one. I took my two dogs (a shih tzu and a pit bull) to Village Groomer and they look fantastic! The workers were super friendly and nice. They ask how you want them cut and do exactly what you say. The only complaint I have is that my shih tzu usually gets a bow at our old groomer and didn't get one here but hey, when she is cut this cute and looks this good, she doesn't really need a bow :) I will definitely take them back here and would recommend them to anyone!

This is by far the best dog groomer in the New River Valley! I have a West Highland White Terrier and everywhere I took her, and I tried five different places, she came home looking like a plucked chicken. When she came home from The Village groomer, she looked like the cutest Westie ever born. This is difficult because she is oversized and a bit of a tomboy.

This place is fantastic! I take my Doodle there and they know what to do every time! They are great with walk-in nail trims! Much faster and cheaper than the vet!
