Good farm, lumber, building supplies, gravel, dirt, tools, work clothes, etc. store. Far more fencing and farm supplies than the chain stores and better quality. Good service too!

Love them! Everyone who works here is really nice and quite helpful. They carry more items than it might seem based on the size of the store: seeds and plants (great prices on some plants), organic gardening supplies, fencing, farm and animal supplies, work boots and clothing, bee keeping equipment, and yummy local honey and sorghum molasses. Plus more. ;) They are so kind to my kids, too, always giving them balloons and treats! Prices are usually quite reasonable; happy to give them my business.

These people are so friendly and helpful( especially Jeremy)and carry all your landscaping needs at good prices.I have shopped for seed for feeder plots for hunting land several times this fall.They load everything for you also.My only concern is that NO employees are ever wearing masks when I' ve shopped there recently...very few customers have them on also! I don't want to see any of these nice folks get sick!

Excellent staff and service. Dog food selection has been increased greatly, and if you have something special you need they will order it. If you take 5 minutes to have you name and number put in the system returns are ways a breeze. Won't even need a receipt. Prices are always better too.

Our family farm and our landscaping business have always had a very good experience. We’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars throughout the years at this establishment, from fencing materials to top soil and lumber. Unfortunately, we recently ordered fence materials for delivery and the items didn’t show up. We had a crew standing around with nothing to do. Upon calling on the issue, management didn’t seem to care and argued over pre-payment. Whatever the reason, It’s unfortunate that a wonderful business has come to poor customer service. Especially after the amount of funds we have pushed their way over the years. We’ll be ordering materials from elsewhere from now on.

Needed a field sprayed and had an agreement with Jeremy for a price and rough time frame. He then disappeared and refused to answer calls or return calls for two months. It negatively impacted the project. If they couldn't do it, a simple communication would have helped rather than the project stalled for weeks.

I bought a tree stand on sale over the phone, gave my credit card number, received an approval number for the purchase and was assured that the stand would be waiting for me when I came to pick it up within a couple of days. A while later that day, I got a call from this Southern States store and they told me that they were selling it to someone else. I verified it was on the inventory still, that they still had the stand in their possession, but the story was that the manager had offered the stand to someone else a week earlier.....but the individual hadn't purchased it nor paid for it. So much for being a long time, loyal Southern States customer. Unethical behavior!

This is where I buy my Pine shavings, they have three styles to choose from Big flake medium flake and small flake.They don't have a big selection of dog foods though.More form animal feed if anything.... And of course, lots of farm supplies.They have very nice gun safes here at good prices.Always check out their clearance section in the back right of the store.They do get seasonal decorations in such as flags and mailbox covers.They also have a nice selection of bird feeders and bird seeds.

First I will say, nice and friendly people that work there.But I ordered 2 tons of sand for kids play water set. They said they couldn't deliver until Saturday morning, ok no problem. Was told there were only 2 deliveries that day and would probably get by 10 if not then by 12. Ok.1030 I call just to get update, took long time to find my ticket ( sounds like it was misplaced or overlooked) but was told they couldn't tell me when it was coming. Ok. Call back at 1215 still no delivery, was told manager will call me back. Ok. After waiting over an hour for return call or my delivery, I call manager, now its 145, was told manager sent the driver on an emergency delivery! And all deliveries are behind! Seriously!!You guys couldn't have told me that when I called the other times or have manager call and tell me!Now it's almost 2 and still waiting! And I have to spread the sand in the hottest part of the day so we can finally set this up for the kids! Thanks for that! I'm not far from Southern States had to pay $30 delivery charge and it's late! I feel the situation could have been handled better or drop the delivery fee.

Southern States in Bedford Virginia is the best place to get any of your animal feed. It is cheaper than Tractor Supply. They loaded up for you. They also have a full line of farming items. They also have a big selection of plants . And some of the friendliest people that you'll ever come across.

Be warned: Return policy is TERRIBLE!They do not keep your c/c in their system, so w/o a receipt they will not take items back. neither do they give store credit. You are stuck. I wanted to upgrade a purchase, not happening.(I purchased an item only they carry, obviously not used...Merry Christmas somewhere else, especially if shopping for someone else.)
