I noticed as I arrived that the parking lot was half full. I entered the lobby and asked about price. I said I had stayed nearby in a motel, but was curious about Comfort Inn Atkins. It is very near Interstate 81, and, has EV charging stations, those are positive things.It is a newer place, so I suspect the rooms are just fine.The desk clerk asked If I had a reservation, then stated that he had only one room left. (I don't find this likely, as the parking lot was not that full.)I had stayed someplace nearby, cheaper, to be sure, but good.He said, before quoting the price, that they would be more expensive, which I probably knew already, but I was curious.He stated that the other places to stay nearby were "not safe."He made accusations as to lack of safety in the other places, and I wont use what he said, but in effect, (in the other places undesirable locals performing illegal activities.)I found it interesting that they had bullet glass between the front desk and the patrons, with information exchanged through a slot.I have was traveling for business, and I stated that I could be staying there once a week, and that I had a flex account, where I am reimbursed, regardless of lodging cost. I was Probably going to decide to stay there. I was dressed reasonably casual.After being quoted the price, reasonable, but more than I was used to, I specifically requested a moment to think it over.At that point, I sat on the sofa in the lobby to think it over. No one else was present, except the two of us.This then, starts the point of my complaint. He immediately stated that I was not allowed to sit on the sofa, or even be in the building unless I had purchased a room.I was rattled, and stated my profession. (It bothers me tho, that IF he had known my profession earlier, would have he treated me better? That's not nice either way.) I shouldn't have dropped my "education" card, a bit self-righteous of me, but I was offended that he couldn't spare a moment, as I had requested, to consider whether I would purchase.I was halfway out the door when I stepped back in to pick upa business card, in order to write this post. I was yelled at even louder at that point.I suppose if you are looking at staying there, Comfort Inn, you can be rest assured that he keeps out what he considers undesirables.Perhaps, this negative review on my part can suggest to you that this IS the right place for you./(And they have EV charging Stations.)

Absolutely best staff, me and my wife completely totalled out our van in an accident and ended up there, could not find a taxi/uber/lift..nothing!....then the wonderful receptionist mark and another employee Ron offered to help and ended up driving over an hour away to pick up a rental.....God bless every one at the hotel,,,...amazing staff...thank you again Ron and MarkNoteworthy details: Staff is amazingly kind friendly and helpful...the best!!!

Hotel beds very comfy. Small but useful workout room. Small breakfast area but very well stocked and option for fresh waffles. Not 5 stars as bathroom needs to be updated, my door handle sticks, flush on toilet sometimes stays filling and fan makes noise. They did offer for me to change rooms but I’m okay with it, just don’t want people to be surprised with older bathrooms. I would definitely stay again and the staff have been friendly and helpful!

Update************Well, where do we start? After years of staying here and enjoying our stays, we have decided that we will NOT be going back.We stayed one night, and both myself as well as my husband were sick for days.The smell of “weed” was more than we could bear. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not like we’ve never enjoyed a joint. This was on a whole new level. The hall was Smoky. I can’t smoke a cigarette inside, but everyone else on that floor can ride the Pineapple Express?The lady at the front desk must have had a contact buzz cause she acted like she had no clue. Needless to say we’re done. We’ve have always received and email asking us to fill out the survey. But not this time…….. wonder why? Cause they knew this was an issue?We enjoy staying when passing thru. The staff is always nice. If you check in early, place the “do not disturb” sign on the door, or they will walk in on you….. kinda uncomfortable. LolBreakfast is good, rooms are clean, no bugs. Parking is good, they now have Tesla charging stations. No elevator, so be prepared to walk up stairs. The restaurant across the road is fantastic.

Bed had actual dirt on the sheets. The room across the hall had some kind of party going on for most of the night and they left the door propped open with the security latch and people were going in and out about every 30 seconds and letting the door slam. Semi parked right outside the window would start every 15-20 minutes and Rev its engine. Now I might expect that out of a 60$ hotel which this place should be, but it was 200$ for the night. Needless to say I didn't get any rest and I won't be returning.

Thanksgiving day. Our car breaks down on way to dinner with my family. Am confined to a wheelchair-cannot climb into tow truck. No problem I’ll just rent a room and wait for wife to return with our other car. Front desk “manager” will gladly rent me a room, but informs me it’s not ready until 3:00. No problem I’ll just grab a book and read. Manager informs me I cannot sit in lobby as I have yet to check in. It’s 30 degrees outside. Fortunately the gas station next door welcomed me and I am waiting here for my wife.The folks at the Circle K next door refused any tip. We bought a Lottery ticket, hope they hit it big. So much to be thankful for today. Two motorists asked if they could help. One even suggested he would drive us home.There is always light at the end of a long night, but oftentimes come in ways not expected. Many other motels in the area, but if you need gas, Circle K in Atkins VA.

my friend and i are from out of state and got here really late in the night and we just wanted some sleep before making a 10 hour drive home. i was at breakfast with said friend at 9 in the morning then went out to our car to get things we needed; that was around 9:30 am. we get back to our room and our door was wide open. the people at this hotel went into our room, took our stuff and put it at the front desk which is a major privacy violation. they tried to say we handed in the keys which we never did. the only reason i gave this place 2 stars is because the lady who was doing the breakfast was super sweet and the manager did give us a refund.

Polite staff, clean room but hallway and especially stairs not so much. Small bathroom. No elevator, which was not made clear on check in. I am gray hair older woman traveling alone with large rolling suitcase. Was not offered a downstairs room or asked if it was a problem. Fortunately the Pizza guy offered to help me with my bags.This place has clearly been upgraded from older hotel but not worth the price paid.

We arrived soaked after riding for 6 hours in the rain. Front desk agent “R” was excellent. She helped us with checking and getting situated. No matter how much of a pain we were she remained pleasant and friendly. Could not have asked for a better checking/settling experience.

The room was updated. The room was cozy. It was a pet friendly room. As we have a 20lb service animal. The issue I had was the carpet was covered in pet hair. The corners of the bathroom as well. They have a note in the room that states they are extremely diligent in their cleaning processes. I would have to disagree. Suggest a more powerful vacuum with a more attentive operator.

A lot of these hotel chains smelled a bit damp and with mildew. Not sure why that is. This place was no exceptions BUT it also smelled like it was disinfected, which was better than wondering if we were going to catch pneumonia from some of the other places we stayed.Breakfast was a little goofy the next morning with the menu you need to fill out the night before so they would have it ready for you if you wanted to just come and pick it up and take it back to the room, but overall a good experience.

We made reservations for one night. We explained when we made the reservation that we were coming into town for my uncles funeral and will need to check in before 3p. On the phone the woman was accommodating and told us that would be fine. When we arrived to check in at 1:30p to get ready for the funeral, the woman at the desk told us no. There was no rooms available until 3p. I explained the situation and asked to speak to the supervisor. General manager came out and I explained what was said to us. The manager asked who I spoke with and I honestly didn’t write her name down. The other woman said I think you spoke with me and I didn’t tell you that. They found 2 rooms on the 2nd floor available however the building has no elevator and my mom has RA and can’t do steps. I told both of them that I had to check in somewhere and left. They didn’t care that they lost business and honestly I won’t ever even consider them the next time I’m in town. I wasn’t going to argue with them however don’t say something over the phone and then in person you deny it. They need to learn customer service skills.

Everyone was extremely friendly. Desk clerk was very helpful and breakfast attendant was nice. We have traveled from Las Vegas, and stayed in quality chain hotels that were not this comfortable. Beds and pillows veryrelaxing after long day of driving. Clean rooms, hot water, pet friendly and a great staff.

I stayed here years ago when it opened and was quite nice. Then it got a bit worn. I am happy to say that it has been totally redone and is great. The best Comfort Inn I have stayed in for years! Rooms, public areas, breakfast, staff - - all are great. Comfort Inns have gone down in recent years but this place gives one hope. I saw a housekeeper cleaning a bathroom floor on her hands and knees - - you don't see that in many places.

Of the "interstate" hotels that I have stayed at this is one of the nicer. The staff has been more than accommodating allowing me to park my bike in a rain protected area.The room is spacious and, obviously, the sheets and the beds are of better quality.The only downside to this particular hotel is that it is not close to restaurants, one has to drive to the mall about 1/2 mile away.Breakfast is included.Overall I would stay here again.

Hands down the best hotel while traveling!Pulled in off a long road trip at 3am. From the trip from hell. Walked in the guy at the front checked us in quick gave us a 1pm check out. The room was clean and Friendly staff was great the next morning.A wonderful night sleep with clean rooms!!!
