If I could give zero stars, I would. Took my sheltie for a cut and bath. Groomer totally shaved him ! You NEVER do a full shave on a sheltie. Even if someone asked for it, and I didn't, a knowledgeable groomer should question it and refuse. Also, who shaves a sheltie in December !! I'm totally pissed at the Petco in Ashland, VA. His coat better come back full and correct or they will come to regret this ridiculous service. Attached are a before and after. The after also shows his hip shaved for a surgery had a few days after this ridiculous cut.

This is the only place I will take my pets to get groomed. Lauren does a phenomenal job with both of my dogs. She pampers them, takes good care of them, and showers them with love. The store itself has a wonderful supply of treats, food, leashes, and anything pet related. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

We needed an engraved dog tag and like usual at Petco we had great interaction with the employees. They go out of their way to make sure you are well taken care of.

I brought an $800 parrot from them on March 7,2024 and my kids woke up to go check on him, they found him dead in the cage we brought from them along with the food and toys. We have other birds from the same location just a month before then. The general manager Sarah was being disrespectful about the whole situation. So I filed a complaint on her. It’s going on 3 months and I still haven’t received my refund. So I called corporate and they told me I can go to the store to get my refund. So I get there and they about to go forward with the refund until Sarah comes out and say no. So she calls the police to get me off property. Everyone is saying I should get a refund, they don’t see why I can’t get one. She told us on the phone no you not getting a refund and you can come get your bird cage. So we go get a refund for the bird cage. How we get a refund for the cage but not the bird. We was told we not getting a refund because the bird was in the cage with other birds like huh, that’s a lie, we literally brought the cage the same day as the bird. Yall literally told us that the bird couldn’t be in another cage with other birds. Even then Sarah the general manager was still being rude. Ashland police came and they’re like we don’t see why you can’t get a refund, but they can’t do anything about it, so we’ll have to take it to court. I’m pressing charges on Sarah and Petco. My children cried when they found the bird dead, they was so upset. So not only am I pressing charges for my bird but also for the pain. Y’all could’ve offered another bird or anything but instead we got straight disrespected.

Theo the new GM is awesome. I have nothing but good things to say about my boyfriend and I’s experience there today when adopting and he went above and beyond with our checkout experience. We will definitely be returning. His bright and outgoing personality is a huge asset to this company!

I went in tonight to look for a female for my son. While there wasn't any females we did end up with a male and a new cage. This is my first encounter in a long time where the employees were friendly, helpful and actually wonderful. The new GM is doing a great job and we will be back.

The animals dont always look good and last couple times been piles of fish dead in the tanks. Some of the workers are nice but not everyone there knows about the animals

Even tho I was walking around trying to find my item there were no associates to ask or help but I would like to say this seems to be an on going problem at all store's still due to shortage of help.I would like to say that I did find the item with little search and when I check out the clerk smiled, ask if had found what I needed, offered advise on an item I did not know Petco offered. He thanked me and was one employee"s I have seemed Happy at his job and smiled. Most employee's, now a day to be unhappy and over worked because of an on going shortage of happy.

Found a super good deal on a small kennel/cage. the $60 happy yay brand was on sale for $22! Store was a little difficult to navigate to find what I wanted, but I finally found an available associate and they were very helpful.

I am new to this town and very closed to my new house. Also my dog has a bad car sick. Will be goodin 5 min from my house.stopped by for my dog food and toys and trying make appointment write phone No down for Grooming in out of business hours.Lady called me right next dayI was late due to confusion due to many of appointments during my vacation, asked me to rescheduled again and made a month later. I received text messages for reminder and responded 1 for yes or 2 for no. By mistake click 2and deleted 1 to confirmed right away.And called right away to make sure for confirmed but no answered.Anyhow I was there staff open the door and said that I canceled. She doesn't want to see my text messages and said reschedule again. 2 times in roll this happened. First one was my confusion but second was customer service. I was almost begging her. She refused and said Have a good day and locked door i thought terrible customer service I will never go to Petco again and made an appointment w/Petsmart.

Employees were very nice. But the store is incredibly claustrophobic and hard to push a cart around. I wanted to look at the bettas and other fish and they looked really rough. Sales prices are also not listed at all when it comes to fish equipment at least and since it's so cramped it's really hard to find what you need.

This place sux! I called last week they answered and said they were closed at 11. Two days later i go over there because I need to return an online purchase- As I get close to the door an employee/Mgr rushes out… I assume to offer carrying in the 50 lbs bag of dog food in my arms. Instead she lockdowns the doors and says “we are closed cause we aint got no help” i said well the hours on the door say different. she says - we are now closing every day at 4 - cant help with the return- it was 3:59. Screw her and that location.

Clean. Well stocked for the most part. They have trouble with fish and live plants. Continuing to have issues with employees not being knowledgeable or trying to find in stock products.

Lauren is the best when it comes to taking care of Max's grooming needs. Since he is a senior dog, he needs a quieter environment when grooming, so she schedules her senior pets together when booking her appointments. She has excellent communication skills and takes time to make each client feel special and you can see that she really enjoys what she does. It shows in her actions and her level of compassion and patience with those who are in her care.

Worst pet store experience I've ever had. Went into this store simply to buy some fish for my 4 year old and that was a problem. I was refused all the fish I wanted to purchase except 1 set and they were hesitant to give me that. Every pet store that I've ever went to NEVER has never given me the problem that I had here just to buy some fish for my kid. I went as far as to contact corporate to see if there was some type of policy change since we hadn't visited that store but once and there wasn't. It came off like a racial issue to my husband and I. Even after we talked to the general manager nothing was done. Months later and still no call from a regional/district manager. Never again.

Josie was fantastic on the phone and in person when i arrived for my appointment for my puppys 1st grooming. I have no issue with her. She seems friendly, personable and loves her job. The miserable girl who was sitting behind the counter leaves much to be desired. My puppy is just into 5 months old. His vet said they would do rabies shot at 6 months. Josie and i discussed this when the appointment was made and i was told it was fine. The girl behind the counter today turned us away. Said absolutely not. They would not take him. It's my one day off from work. I can't get him in to a local vet today and even if I could, his appointment was at 815 am. This was inconsiderate, inconvenient and a horrible experience. I had several other appointments lined up for this morning since my puppy would be at the groomers. Customer Service is not a strong point of the girl behind the counter. I wish I knew her name because I'd surely post it here and everywhere else.

We love this Petco! It is so close to home. We use their store and the online ordering for delivery. We also get our two fur babies groomed here with Lauren, their stylist 😁 Lauren is an amazing groomer and is amazing with our babies! You can tell she loves what she does and takes such good care of them. She goes above and beyond with their care and we all look forward to their grooming visit! We have two shy Shih Tzus. She makes them feel so comfortable and is able to do such an amazing job! Go see Lauren....you won't be disappointed!!!

My overall experience was great, TJ checked me out at the register. I set an item on the counter for restock purposes as I told and he charged it to my purchase and then put the item behind him to restock. I do not like thieves, especially during this drastic period time of pandemic. Being that I have carefully reviewed my receipt, to notice what I’ve witnessed and experienced, I was able to get my money back, on a customer service note. I never had that done to me before!

Every employee here is so friendly and helpful. We bring our two dogs here for nail trimmings and all the ladies are so kind. Paige and Josie are always so happy to see them! I can’t recommend them enough for grooming!

I enjoy going to petco. I have always liked taking my dogs just for a visit. The staff is courteous and very helpful and they have most of the products I need in a hurry, or otherwise the specialty foods. I do both online and curbside, as well as in-store so I get the same treatment either way. I would highly recommend them.

We love the store as a whole, but Lauren (and the rest of the grooming dept.) is who keeps us coming back to the Ashland Petco. She treats our two little shih tzu pups like they are her very own, and does an amazing job grooming/cleaning them as well. Every time we pick them up they look perfect and smell like heaven as well. Lauren is incredibly nice and makes the whole process simple and enjoyable. She has even given us tips for grooming/overall care for our pups in between visits. It's refreshing to deal with someone who truly cares about her customers/clients. As long as Lauren and her team are there, we won't have any reason to go anywhere else!
