Came thru after doing a section hike of the AT and this place is amazing. Friendliest staff, and outstanding beer. Would love to see this beer distributed regionally down into North Carolina.

Pet friendly, good food and brews. Also have a wine and cider list which is nice, The Rachael Sandwich with smoked turkey is really good. For cooler evenings the Dark Hollow draft is a good touch. Sat on the patio and listen to live music on a Friday. The staff was friendly and the service was good.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Blue Mountain Barrel House, and it was such a fun time! They hosted us in the back room among the brewing equipment, and it was a really unique experience. There was plenty of food, and the servers did a great job keeping up with beer orders. Kevin was super responsive to all of our email and phone communications and made the whole night a breeze.

Great brewery with great food. The duck sausage sandwhich and spinach dip were the best.Did 2 flights of all the beers, very happy with the spread they had. They also have a cozy little fire pit to drink near.

I get takeout BBQ from here often. The food is top notch. Unfortunately they don't have the chicken anymore but I can eat the pulled pork right out of the container. The portions are good and service is unparalleled. Love these guys and love giving back to the community. Had the dark hollow tonight. It's delicious but not for lightweights.

Local spot where one can always find a tasty brew! Not to mention, the atmosphere is totally complimented by the panoramic Blue Ridge Mountains view of Mount Pleasant and The Priest. You can enjoy live music and tasty grub while you enjoy the outdoor patio and there's even a firepit for those colder months. Of course, it's summertime so just a little food for thought. :-) All and all you can't ever go wrong with anything you get from the Barrel House. Safe travels and Cheers!!!

Loved the patio and the views. Beer and food were pretty amazing. We had the pretzel with the queso and beer mustard and the chicken/garlic pizza. Sooo good! Trent our waiter was so sweet and personable. Sitting out there you meet other patrons and just strike up conversations. The atmosphere there is so conducive to this. Loved it!

Great food, plenty of seating and parking, live band. You can't beat the beer selections, too.

Surprisingly I didn’t drink while I was here, but I did love the food! Desert was great and the pizza was excellent. Vibes were amazing with life music and a fire pit! What more can you ask for!

Incredible brunch, we also had one of the nicest servers ever. She gave us great recommendations on what we were torn in between getting, and the hostesses inside were super friendly and great to have conversations with. Hope to be back again next time we are in the area.

Really nice patio with the view of hop vines. Excellent beer selections. We probably ate here twice, and we're never impressed with food. However, it's a great place to have a drink, especially after a long hike!

I was at the Barrel House for a Paint & Sip event and it was just lovely. Before the event I got the trio of sliders (a weekly special!) and a delicious fruity sour that hit just right. The venue itself was beautiful with crazy good views of the mountains and the staff were all polite and attentive. The outdoor space looked awesome as well, and I already have plans to go back and hang out outside!

The Brewery threw a party today, billing it Mardi Gras in the Mountains. They didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was outstanding, the Cajun food excellent, the beer as good as always and the music, provided by Sweet Potatoes Music, outstanding as well. The Brewery was pleasantly crowded. Enough people to make it feel like a party without being overcrowded. By the looks of it, a good time was had by all. Kudos to the staff who were all in point as well

Great food. I had the bbq sandwich. The bbq sauce was great, salad was really good. My husband loves the Gobbler smoked turkey sandwich. The only thing that could have been better was the bun on the bbq. It wasn't toasted and nothing special. Service was flawless.

Good place to stop for food and beer if you’re in Nelson County, just off 29. BBQ-centric menu with very good beers, and many different styles. Their chicken is incredibly tender and all the sides are great. I like their sausages too but find the pulled pork to be a little dry. Be sure to ask for extra BBQ sauce too because they don’t put it on the tables. Dog friendly outside, which is quite large, very inviting. Music was blues, which ruled. Service is superior and always friendly. Recommend!

Excellent brewery location, friendly people. Looks like they're expanding indoor capacity, but plenty of outdoor seating. Six taps, good variety of beers, some from affiliated breweries. Didn't order food on this visit, but the menu looks good.

Pulled pork looked and tasted old, was served cold. The cole slaw looked old and tasted not so good. Potato salad had no flavor, no salt, spice or seasoning at all.We ordered a pretzel, ended up with 3 pretzel sticks that tasted like a smoker and definitely not made on site.We ordered a pork platter and split; the sides were $4 for about 1/2 a cup and I was told that the Mac n cheese, as a side, was a $6 item.If I ate here again, I'd go with pizza (chicken tenders) as it's made to order.Beer was good, but there are no shelf liquors. Our server was, newer, no name tag, so not sure of her name.Ask to see the receipt before you pay, we were totalled at the table and told a total.I saw total after receipt was sent in a text. The environment and beer are nice, but the food is sub par.

Best brewery experience! We recently visited Nelson County for a week and discovered this gem just off of the Thomas Nelson Hwy. We liked it so much we went two nights in a row. The menu offers really creative and interesting selections. I got the duck sausage which was phenomenal and my husband got the barbecue chicken (also phenomenal). We fought over the cornbread that came with my husband's meal it was so good. Food is really fresh and tastes home cooked. Beer is fantastic too! And you really can't beat the views at Blue Mountain Barrel House. We felt so lucky to watch the sun go down while enjoying our meal on the outdoor patio. Its hard to say what is best - the beer, the food, or the views at this place!

Beautiful area and mountain views. I had their Sunday breakfast til 3 pm. Delicious!

Disappointed in the Sunday brunch. We were excited to discover that they offered a Sunday brunch option however the Sunrise Frittata was lacking at best. The frittata seemed to be made well in advance (dried out and room temperature). Served with one slice of toast, cut in half, with a pat butter to be divided between the halves. The waitress informed us that they ran out of butter, sad considering there is a Food Lion up the road. For the side, I chose the pancake which was fluffy but served dry, without butter or syrup. By the time the waitress brought the syrup (which was way too little syrup), the pancake was cold and had to be eaten half dry. To top it off, coffee with brunch was not an option. Who serves brunch without coffee? This confirms that not all brewery’s are known for awesome food to go along with their beer, cider or wine options. Sunday brunches are off the table. If you like good dark beer or moscato, then come and enjoy but steer clear of the Sunrise Frittata. It’s not worth the 13 bucks.

Thank you to Blue Mountain Barrel House staff and Manager Kevin! My wife and I had our reception there after our ceremony. Unfortunately rain came unexpectedly and the staff made it so we could have our reception inside! And top it all off. They even squeegeed the stage so we could have our first dance in the rain without getting wet!Everything went wonderfully and can’t say enough about the awesome customer service we had!

Nice pub food and great beer. They have a large outdoor eating area. This is their main brewing location where the Rt 151 location is their main restaurant location. Off the beaten path and less crowded than their other location. I enjoy the pale ales and IPA's personally, but dark beer in the cooler months.

This is a very relaxing yet fun atmosphere, as I came in the earlier hours of the evening. Met some great people with wonderful stories. The music is great, the beer is great, and they have a fire pit as well as cornhole. MUST visit !
