So much more than a hardware store at English's! I rented a hand truck, to move some equipment. And while I was there today returning my rental, I picked up a new mailbox for the business and splash blocks too. I always think of English's when I need something that I know the other stores won't have. Always check with English's! The staff is polite and knowledgeable.

We are new to the area and we called around looking for treated 6x6 wood specifically. Another business told me to try English’s and they were right! A huge selection of lumber open to the public. In addition they have a variety of products within the store for home improvement projects. They counter staff, specifically a young lady was very knowledgeable. Also, the older man who assisted us in the yard was extremely kind. We couldn’t haul the full 12’ plank, so they cut it in half for us. We were able to take it home and build some wood blocks in order to get our bus leveled.

I called ahead and received a quote on lumber.The quote was good enough that I headed there to purchase what I needed.When at the register the quoted price had increased by nearly a dollar per each board that I needed.When I questioned the difference in price the two clerks told me I was wrong????Seems like a tactic used to get you there in the hopes the you won’t notice the price increase!ORThere is a complete disconnect between Management and Employees! Otherwise everyone there would be on the same page!!

These folks are so helpful and friendly! They will do everything they can do help you on your project. A great local business to support. Prices can be a bit higher than some other places, but it's worth it to not have to drive all the way to Lynchburg.

I always enjoy my visits ti English. There's always someone to ask for help and they're pretty friendly about it. I've found their prices, at least for lumber, on par with the giant stores that are a million miles away.

English is not a big box store but they have every thing I've ever needed. The employees are always happy to take care of you. Great experience every time I've been there. Would definitely recommend them.

I just moved to the area and within the last two months I have spent over $1,500 in this store. Today I had to take back a flapper, that I bought there last week, as it was defective. They would not return my money nor give me a store credit because I did not have the receipt. I have taken things back to Lowe's and Home Depot with out a receipt and there are no problems. It was only a $4 item, but you would expect a little more personal attention from a local vendor. Thus, make sure you save your receipts.

Can’t walk into English’s without being confronted by an employee asking if you need anything. So refreshing after searching for a Lowe’s employee for hours, to no avail. Support a local business, get some help, and possibly even save money depending on what you get, by going to English’s.

Lots of home improvement items. Little higher pricing than Lowe's but better than driving all the way to Danville or Lynchburg. Plus shopping local is good.

This store has a large stock of items anyone would need but their price of their items is double what a place such as lowes or home depo is.If your looking for a quick fix item and dont mind paying double then this is your store....

Don't open till 8:00 am. Most contractors start at 7 or 7:30 am . No Treated 2 x 6 x any length on hand, had to buy 2 x 8 and waste for rip.
