We love Christina! This was our first time getting our dog groomed at this Petco location and it was a fantastic first experience. Christina was kind, had excellent communication skills, and did an outstanding job grooming our dog! I highly recommend her as a groomer!

I really like the people who work here. They are very personable and friendly. The store itself has a very welcoming and pet friendly vibe unlike a much larger pet store a few miles down the road. The store is a bit hidden from street view but I highly recommend you visit them and give them your business. I get all my fish pond supplies here and it is always fun to check out the little animals.

Took my dog to get a bath and de-shedding they took 4 hours on top of that they didn't even trim his nails , he still smells bad and his hair still coming off. I regret taking my dog there is a waste of money specially when I have to come home and do what I paid for him to get done

Went in to pick up an online order, and Troy provided us our order quickly and with a great attitude. We asked about some "Pet Armor" allergy meds, and he directed us to the aisle, but said he hadn't seen it in stock. We looked and found the last one, and Troy quickly rang it up just as pleasantly as the first order. Need more people like Troy in customer service that's for sure.

Talia is amazing! My dog was not into the haircuts at first but she has a way with animals! He is always happy to see her. She does a wonderful job. Plus, she’s so nice and knowledgeable. Highly recommend going to see her!

My son and I came in for essentials for our Snake. Rose greeted us and walked us all around the store recommending the perfect essentials! We love how informative the staff always are and the wide selection of needs for our pets. We also found some goodies for our Bearded Dragon!

Always have a weird and anxious time if visiting here! The guy with glasses and brown hair is always in a mood with an attitude and I’ve tried talking to him about food a couple of times and I get so angry when I leave because I didn’t ask for a manager (prob not there as it’s always late). It’s like I’m bothering him he seems much more pleasant when the customer is a male? Just weird reminds of gamer that eats Cheetos and lives in his mom’s basement type deal. I spend a lot of money in there so…just think maybe he should not be up front

I took my dog to get groomed April 2 of 2024. a bichon when I picked him up. All the lady did was cut his body hair. She did not bathe him. She did not trim around his face to round up his cut or to even lower the cut it’s the same cut in his face that we had coming from the West Coast, and it’s the same length as when I took him in he stinks like stinky dog in less than 24hrs so that tells me he did not really get a bath. She must’ve rubbed some type of cologne on him or whatever after spray, they put on them for the smell good His nails are not trimmed. I paid over $70 and left her $10 tip. I think they’re scamming people up here at this Petco especially in the grooming department. do not use this Petco grooming department if you see there’s another post that was two weeks from mine. If I had to Read it, I would not have taken my dog here but same thing happened to someone else so they’re obviously not bathing the dogs nor doing their nails or giving proper cuts

Would not give us a refund. We were given a gift card by a friend so we could get some things for our new kitty and we purchased a carrier that ended up not working. Even with our membership and a receipt they couldn't give us the credit back on a gift card and we lost the gift from our friend. The manager was very rude and just dismissive to us. We will not be going back to this location.

Grooming:I unfortunately after trying a new groomer at this petco will be taking my business elsewhere. I was consistent with another groomer but she moved. First it took 4.5 hours for my 9lb dog to be done when it usually takes 2 hours at most. The groomer had no customer service. Barely wanted to speak to me…after I had to ask her to come out so I could describe the cut I wanted. Again it was my first time meeting her so I thought a quick consultation wasn’t asking too much. My main request was to groom my dog’s ear a certain way. I showed her a photo. Well on the left is what I asked for & on the right is what she gave me. Tierra just left me very unsatisfied. My dog looks nothing like herself.

They called 30 minutes before to cancel grooming for my pet as I was on my way. The have no policies to help with situations like this. They leave customers in bad situation with rescheduling. They do not help with rescheduling to other petcos. I asked if they could provide a coupon for another groom (I asked they did not offer themselves which they should have) and they said they could offer 20% but they couldn’t actually provide a coupon or customer credit. Absolutely useless and unhelpful. When I asked to speak to the manager they put me through to the front key clerk Diana who was the most unhelpful and insincere person I’ve spoken to. She was not trying to help in anyway. Terrible place to book a grooming for your dog. Save your time and go to another petco.

We come here regularly and I am sad to leave this review but we will probably be taking all our future business online or to a competitor. We came by near closing tonight but still well within posted business hours and the doors were locked. There was no notice of an early closure anywhere. Very disappointing waste of time. If you’re thinking about coming to this location within an hour if the posted closing time, save yourself the trip and head to someplace else.

The staff at the Richmond Hwy Alexandria Va is outstanding!! They treat you as a person. I live in Md and have Petco closer but they don’t care about anything! Don’t even their job. You definitely need more locations like the one that I consider my family’s (pets)home. Won’t go anywhere else! Thx

One of the better and more reliably stocked pet stores in the area, the staff are generally very helpful, and parking is ample. Unfortunately, they are also on average a little more expensive per item for most items compared to the other major pet store or generalist big box stores.

Helena is a First Class Store Manager. Her customer service is the best I have ever experienced anywhere. All the staff is super nice and Troy was very helpful with my Oranda Goldfish purchase. This is my top rated Petco in the whole Va, Md, DC area. 5 Stars and highly recommended.

Two large boxes of 'whole hearted' Petco brand minced cat food, both packages looked similar but slightly diff. I asked an employee if they're the same product because my cats are picky, employee seemed annoyed and said yeah. Get home and one box is chopped rather than minced and my cats won't eat it. Great.At check out machine ripped my receipt. Took 20 mins for a replacement receipt. Three different employees couldn't recall the most recent receipt. Manager finally came up, made no acknowledgement of me standing there, paused to comment on a different customers puppy and then finally I gives me receipt. Waste of time and money. I work in customer service retail and this experience was far from ideal and just sad. Ordering from Chewy from now on to avoid this ever happening again.

After going in to pick up a few things for my fish babies while on my road trip Ofcourse I had to look at there bettas. We discovered All of there bettas were either sick, dying or already dead. We rescued a black orchid male at a discounted price. He has horrible finrot and is barely moving around. I told the employees about the water needing changed and pointed out all of the bettas that passed and none of them were to concerned. Swim in peace little fishys.Rip. something needs to be done about how they are treating there bettas.

A year ago i was visiting from canada and i came here, and now that im living here I have a bit more to say about this store, so read on.This stores animals are cared for so much better than petsmart. Even down to the bettas in their cups. Anthony and Lexi are amazing. They are so awesome to talk to and really care about their job, the animals and the people they sell to. Everyone in the store deserves a raise and I hope they get it.Amazing petco. Small store that really takes care of most their pets. Some algae on some tanks, but the lowest mortality rate of many of the other petsmarts and petcos in Alexandria. They are also one of the only petcos nearby to offer their pets at a clearance- i saw hamsters, crested geckos, and bettas all on clearance, most likely due to them being ill or kept too long. This is actually a very good idea, as it not only gets them out faster, but can then provide medication and a proper habitat at a reduced cost to the customer. We took in a very tiny female betta, and she is thriving in a 15 gallon tank now.

Very professional, Friendly and informative staff. They took the time to point me in the right direction on multiple occasions. They help you provide the best care for any animal. You leave there with knowledge and options. I went there for a Blue tongue skink and Banana ball Python that's was kinda dropped on me by a family member. I'm glad to have stopped by there when this ordeal began. I had barely any reptile knowledge

Always a convenient stop for my pet's needs, I can usually depend on their inventory. Customer service can be spotty here at times (I once encountered a very mean member of the management team at this location), but as long as you don't need much assistance, this place is quite easy to get in and out quickly. . .
