I’ve been bringing my pup to Pawsh since first moving here in Fall 2022. He always tends to be anxious at the groomers, but the staff here are incredible at working with anxious or challenging dogs - they pride themselves on it. Danny has been the groomer we’ve used the past few times and he’s done a great job on my Westie. I’ve also used the self bathing area for Lab, and it has worked out great. You get everything you need at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely love this place. It’s very beautifully decorated and so very clean. I came later than I wanted to my first time (last minute decision) and the staff were so kind that they let me finish even though I was walking out 15min past 5. They are so kind for that. They weren’t rude, they made conversation with me, they showed me where everything was and answered all of my questions and even got a booster seat for my little baby Elliott! :)

We love this place so much! The staff and owner, Mary, are such wonderful people! We have been going to this place for three years now, and from the first day we started coming here, we've always loved how caring everyone is with our dogs!If you're seeking an extraordinary grooming experience for your fur baby, look no further. This remarkable dog wash business has captured our hearts!

Horrible experience. When I came in, the place seemed chaotic. The receptionist said they were short staffed but there was no issue with fulfilling my puppy’s appointment time. So, unfortunately, I left him in their care. My puppy is a standard poodle, and I requested a short haircut all around with his paws and snout shaved. His appointment took 3 (!) hours. When I came back to pick him up, the very first thing the lady said to me was that he was difficult and fidgety. She said this instead of a proper greeting, like hello” or “welcome back” or literally anything that’s not ridiculously rude. She then proceeded to say that they weren’t able to provide the haircut I had asked for, but “at least it’s cut.”When they brought my puppy out, he was in a slip collar and literally choking as he was trying to come greet my wife and I. Upon first examination, the haircut looked horrible. It was uneven, and the groomer admitted that she wasn’t able to trim his paws properly due to him being fidgety. I can understand it being difficult to groom him, but why not call me to let me know ahead of time you were having issues? I could have picked him up and we could have tried another day. I offered the receptionist a bag of my puppy’s favorite treats when I first dropped him off, in case he was fidgety. She refused, saying they used “positive reinforcement.” The treats are part of positive reinforcement training! They would have undoubtedly helped with his behavior. Again, why not at least let me know if he’s having issues so we can problem solve together? When I got home and got a better look at his haircut, I was horrified at how bad it was (see attached pictures). He has bald patches on his butt and thighs, his hair around his face is totally uneven, and worst of all one his nails was cut so short it splintered. The other nails don’t appear to have been cut at all.The groomer and the receptionist were both very rude as well. Overall a horrible experience. I encourage anyone with a young puppy or an anxious or fidgety older dog to stay far, far away from this place. Both

I loved the first time I came here, but the second time was much worse. The groomer (did not catch her name) was rude to me when I did not know the difference between grooming and getting a trim, and they did not list in his file what had been done the first time we came. It then took four hours instead of the estimated two to three hours, which made us late for something else. The front desk person was trying to be empathetic and told me I should notify them the next time I need him to be done by a certain time (which had felt unnecessary at dropoff, since he should have been done well before we had to be anywhere), so they can prioritize him, and I was given the option of stopping his cut partway through, which I did not do because I just wanted to get it done. When the cut was finally done, 40 minutes after I had been told to come back, it appeared like he had gotten a rush job with clippers instead of the trim with scissors that had been discussed, which felt like a move by the groomer because she had been repeatedly asked when he would be done.We won’t be coming back and would not recommend it to anyone else.

We love Pawsh! I live on Capitol Hill but drive to Alexandria frequently because Pawsh is so much better than the options in DC. I used to almost exclusively use the self-wash option, which is really well done. There's plenty of space so the dogs don't feel too crowded, the tubs are high enough that it won't hurt your back, and they truly have all the supplies you could possibly need (including Furminators). Since an injury, my pup Arlo -- a giant, hairy, exuberant golden retriever -- has been treated to Pawsh Packages (a bath/blowout/nail trim service). Mary, the owner, has been incredible about making sure Arlo gets a super thorough de-shed, and he's always so happy when I pick him up. On top of all that, everything is fairly priced. Can't recommend this (locally owned!) business enough.

Excellent customer service, this hidden gem is my go to spot to wash my pups. We went with the self serve wash and EVERYTHING was provided, they even had ear wipes and an assortment of brushes and scrubbers to help! It was fabulous! The tub was very spacious and easy for our large dog with hip issues to get into. They were very helpful with my puppy as well, who hates bath time. ❤️

While most of the ladies have done a good job trimming my dog’s nails in the past, I did have a bad experience 5-6 months ago with one lady getting my dog’s fur caught and pulled out in the nail dremel SEVERAL times. My poor dog was screaming. I stepped in to assist her and comfort my dog. She didn’t apologize or take any accountability. She blamed my dog for having a long and uneven coat/hair type. What difference does that make? She should know how to professionally use a dremel properly without ripping out the fur regardless of the coat length. What always bothered me is that she just brushed it off, made excuses and didn’t even apologize.

We have been visiting this place for the past two to three years, consistently experiencing exceptional services. The staff is outstanding, and the commendable reward program further enhances our positive experience. We wholeheartedly recommend them.

Always love coming to Pawsh for our biweekly baths. We enjoy a walk through Ben Brenman park first then head on in for the self serve baths. Highly recommend!

Recommended by my neighbor and now myself, this little shop is in a pleasant area. Giving a dog a bath is perhaps never an easy experience but the setup makes it as convenient as possible and the staff was friendly and helpful. I did not need to make an appointment for the self-service dog wash. There are multiple bathing and drying stations with brushes/shampoos/ear wipes/towels. I will visit again and also try the grooming services, which seemed reasonably priced.

Was in a bind. Was to use another groomer and she canceled on us the morning of her appointment. Pawsh was amazing and fit us in ASAP. Thank you so much and we will definitely be bringing Poppy back.

My dog found a mud puddle right at the end of our walk today, and I’m so grateful to Pawsh for letting me squeeze in a quick self-serve bath 10 min before closing! The staff are always friendly to humans and extremely compassionate whenever working with my pet. Tank is reactive, so the self-serve option is great for us!

This was our first time taking our dog to a self-serve dog wash. We were a little concerned because he can be a little reactive to other dogs. The staff were great in helping us get him set up. We had brought a muzzle to bathe him in but they provided us a muzzle that they normally use for grooming so ours wouldn't get wet. We were also told that in the future, if we call ahead, we may be able to get a private room to bathe him in. Because they have those for reactive dogs, for no extra charge! We will definitely be back!

The self wash is amazing! It has everything you’d need to bath your fur baby! The only thing I think would make it better would be if there was a higher tub for smaller dogs! But other than that, I 100% recommend Pawsh Dog Wash!

I always recommend this place to folks who are looking for a self-wash or want to find a groomer that understands nervous dogs. The self wash room is large with three large tubs and multiple brushes, shampoos, towels, and drying stations. It is also very clean. Since it is a large room it can get a bit echo-y if there is a barker but at least it never feels cramped. They were also very understanding when I took a long time to wash my thick-coated giant solo. Since washing him alone was such a big deal I started to use their grooming services and it was well worth it.The groomers are very understanding of anxious dogs and will work slowly to be able to get your dog's nails trimmed and fur thoroughly washed. They are so patient! Honestly sometimes it was annoying how little trouble he gave them when clipping his nails vs when I would try at home. I was always happy with how clean my pup was and the one time it was a less than stellar job it was a. for understandable reasons and b. they worked very very hard to ameliorate the situation.I'm really happy a place that is so well-equipped for rescue dogs exists in this area.

I went on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn’t very busy. This is for the self wash stations which was fairly clean. They had a few options to choose from for the shampoos/conditioners and brushes. Overall, a good experience and we’ll be back. The only improvement i think could be made is having a smaller self wash station, higher up off the floor with lower walls. That way there’s less bending for the small dogs.

We had a very difficult dog, tried multiple times at other places to get her nails trimmed and every other place failed. The first time we took her to Mary and the team was rough, but they were able to get her nails done, they must have done something right because the second time we took her in she let them trim with no issues whatsoever! Thanks so much!

We had our first grooming session here with our 5 month old dog and we didn’t give much direction outside of “short for summer”. Selena did an absolutely phenomenal job with our squirmy puppy! He came back comfortable, adorable and ready for the warm weather. The price was extremely reasonable too. We will be back!

I only come here for the dog self wash. I have tried out a couple in the area and this is hands down the best one. Plenty of free street parking surrounding the store. I normally just walk in with no appointment and they immediately have a tub available. They have huge tubs with steps for your doggo to get in, a variety of shampoos/conditioners, aprons for you to wear when you are washing, and a drying station with blow dryer, towels and a variety of brushes for different kinds of hair. Highly recommend this place and I'll definitely be back with my dog.

Didn’t trim the face at all, said the dog was moving too much so I rescheduled with someone else. Groomer kept kissing my dog without asking while holding him which i thought was gross and unprofessional. Came back a second time to get the face trimmed and apparently the front desk lady ended up doing it and not the groomer. Eyebrows were noticeably uneven when I inspected his face at home. If i ever do come back, it’ll only be to do it myself.

Awesome service. We had an emergency situation to clean up for a visit with patients after muddy dog park play. The person there was Syi. Sorry for the misspelling. She was a beautiful sole allowing us to come in 15 minutes before close. My dog loved their tub. He is normally unruly in those metal tubs with the door. The tub set up at this place really worked for him and me.

Just took our squirmy 5-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog here for the first time, and I cannot say enough about how friendly, patient, and helpful the staff were (especially Yasmin!). Our puppy has always been nervous around water, and even though we were doing the self-wash, Yasmin jumped in to give us helpful tips, tricks and encouragement to make this a much easier process for us. We will absolutely, 100% come back!

The staff were very helpful, my GSD has bad anxiety usually with dogs and sometimes people but she really needed a bath. She was so comfortable here and everyone was understanding and did the best to accommodate her. This will be our new spot to bathe her and I think I'll start bringing my small dog for grooming services as well. Thank you.

Amazing experience! Very clean environment and friendly staff. For our wash there were a verify of shampoos, sanitary wipes and more than enough of towels. There was plenty of space in the tubs for larger dogs. We had two Collies. The tubs are accessible from 3 sides which is super convenient (most other dog wash places have me positioned directly in front of my dog which makes if difficult clean both sides of my dog or work in tandem if I have a helper.) I met the owner, she and her staff were so kind to both of my 4 legged friends. My youngest is a bit of a handful and it posed no problem with staff as they were up to the task. The owner was very knowledgeable about how their grooming needs may change based on age, medical conditions and breed.
