Really great experience with our first time to Bond Vet in Old Town! Everyone from the receptionist, to the tech, to the Dr were very laid back, attentive, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place for your furry loved ones!

I Writing on behalf of my daughter, becuase she is too kind to write a negative review. As her father I feel it's my duty to express our disappointment with Bond Vet in Old Town Alexandria. Despite my daughter's initial referral and trust, the facility has shown a lack of care for her elderly dog's well-being. Calls, messages, and emails seeking answers have gone unanswered for 11 days now.Issues began with a denied prescription refill due to a lack of medication, and subsequent delays were encountered in the review process. Despite pleas for expedited care, the response was dismissive, citing a busy schedule. Critical information about the prescription and blood work requirements whihc she had provided was belatedly communicated, leading to unnecessary suffering for her dog. This level of patient care is unacceptable, especially when dealing with elderly pets in pain. The veterinary industry should prioritize genuine care for both pets and their owners. Bond Vet Old Town Alexandria falls short of this standard, and it is disheartening that individuals lacking true compassion can hold positions in such a crucial field. Shame on Bond Vet for their neglectful approach to patient care.

Had a wonderful experience at Bond Vet - Alexandria! My dog is a rescue from Thailand and is extremely anxious and reactive when he has to go to the vet. Dr. Marjorie O'Brien and her team were incredibly skilled and patient in making sure that he got well taken care of and made it through his shots and blood tests. I left feeling so relieved and grateful.

I'm a first-time dog owner! Saige came into our lives after the passing of a family member. I was able to get a same day appointment, and the online booking was super easy. I gained so much information during our appointment. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. We've definitely found our vet family.

The best vet I've found in the area. Dr. O'Brien is really great with my shy, fear-reactive dog. I've tried other "fear-free" vets in the area and she is the only one who has truly taken the time to learn about my dog and listen when I explained what would best help her feel comfortable at the vet. The staff have also been really great with her and giving her time to explore and feel comfortable

I thought Bond Vet clinic was a great experience! It was easy to schedule online for a quick appointment with great availability. The receptionist was very nice as was the reception area. Our assistant and vet were both dog lovers and were knowledgeable and efficient. We had fun because our dog started complaining and the Dr hadn’t even touched him yet!

My cat Seance is a lot to handle. Bond Vet was so sweet saying she has exceeded her cat minutes. They gave her the courtesy to come back a different day with a plan to help get her in and out of the clinic without stressing her out. I feel safe with them giving advice and care. Also they were completely transparent about any fee and charge before the service. When I came home my cat was back to normal.

My initial visit was quite pleasant. I have a senior dog that requires extra care. The first visit they did lab work and a urinalysis. My dog was put on an antibiotic and I was told by the doctor that the lab recheck and required follow up visit was included in the price that I paid at the initial visit. I was thrilled because this is usually unheard of. Fast forward to the recheck and follow up visit, I’m told nothing is included in the follow up visit and that I needed to pay for everything; exam visit, lab work recheck, urinalysis, etc. The vet tech pulls up an email from my previous visit and says “while the quote for this visit isn’t listed along with the care plan as it should be, we can’t do a visit for free.” The money isn’t the issue, being lied to and misled is. If I can’t trust a place to be upfront and honest about pricing, how can I trust my dogs health in their hands. Also, I am new to this area and needed to find a new vet for my dog. I never had any issues with my previous vet or paying for every visit because the expectations were up front and clear.

Dr. O’Brien and her team were AMAZING! They are genuinely nice people who provided thorough yet gentle care for my cat. I’ve been to vet clinics before where I felt judged by the veterinarian - telling me I was feeding my cat the wrong food or giving her the wrong flea/tick medicine… but not Dr. O’Brien! She was so encouraging, gave me great advice, and made me feel like a good cat mom!

The staff are delightful, intelligent, responsive, and knowledgeable. The doctor is possibly the most qualified that I have ever met in my 50 years of dog ownership. I only hesitate to write this because I fear we won’t be able to get in to see them, but I was assured that being able to make space/time for each pet is part of the culture there.CheersMark

We went to Bond Vet in Alexandria (a little north of Old Town), and we're very impressed. Dr. O'Brien counselled us on an appropriate diet for our (older) cat, and Chloe was really helpful, too, making sure we understood the medication regimen, etc. We can highly recommend them! 👍😺

Edited to reflect response from Bond: I emailed Bond a few times in an attempt to get in touch with the vet--NO RESPONSE for over a week.If you care about your pet, avoid! If I could rate zero for the care my baby boy received (or didn’t), I would! Please know all calls go through a call center, not the office! I chose Bond when I needed a new vet after moving from DC based on what they touted as patient service and availability of urgent care. The day after Christmas, my dog had an eye issue (got something in it we think) and I called Bond because they claim to have urgent care. I requested a call back and to this day, never heard back. I took my dog to the VCA emergency vet and then followed up with Bond because his eye was still red. The vet prescribed new food and drops and told me to call her if no change in two weeks. Two weeks later, no change. I called two times and sent messages to the office and nothing. I took my dog to VCA on Henry and they were great. I didn’t hear from Bond until a full week after my call, and that was via email, not even return call. Also, I wanted to schedule a teeth cleaning for my dog and requested someone call me to talk through what pre-op blood work he needed. To this day, I never heard from anyone. While you’re in office, the care is good. But good luck if you have any issue and want to talk to your vet or you try to contact them because they told you to follow up (or an emergency!). The follow up is terrible— you can’t get your vet or the office on the phone and the vets are terrible about follow up. This is totally atypical of other vets in the area where you can actually call the office and get a call back same day. Choose one of those.

My mom recently moved back to Virginia and when she arrived her cat was not doing well with dark urine. My regular vet was not accepting new clients and we wanted her seen immediately and got an appointment here as they have late hours. My mom did not have files for her cat and the vet decided to do numerous radiographs …. Supposedly…. To see if she was spayed, saying she thought the cat was in heat instead of it being urine. They did blood work and said the would call with the results. Well they did not call and sent via email that the cat had a severe uti and that we could pick up the prescription. Well because they did not call as repeatedly said they would my mom who is retired and does not regularly check email, it took me having to text and call their customer service for two days to find out they emailed. They then say we can pick up the prescription not telling us that location is closed on Fridays and Saturdays now …. So no we couldn’t pickup the prescription. And I had to call the next morning to get the prescription filled at a location that was open to pick up. So after 4 DAYS finally have the antibiotics for my moms cat. We then follow the ten day treatment and cat is not better at all. I get an appointment with my vet to see her . They request from bond vet her files, they don’t send any of the radiographs they supposedly did on her and my vet does them. The cat has severely enlarged kidneys and a mass in her abdomen and they call Bond vet again asking for all files on the cat to which the response was they already sent all files. My vet then says to be sure next steps we need to redo blood work, which I was fully expecting. Blood work came back today and my moms cat is now in severe kidney failure and either needs to be hospitalized for treatments which they are not sure will even work or be euthanized. Now maybe this would still be the case even if Bond vet wasn’t completely incompetent with diagnosing three weeks ago when we took her in, but we paid 600 dollars and I am not even sure they ran the tests they said they did as I am not sure HOW YOU MISS ENLARGED KIDNEYS ON BOTH SIDES WHEN YOU CHARGED FOR NUMEROUS PHOTOS YOU THEN DIDN’T EVEN PROVIDE. Either way if you care at all about your pet don’t take them here. Seriously a vet you can’t even call and speak to and have to go through some phone service for response and info is a dumb and ineffective system. And please whatever customer service person who responds to this post with your bs about how deeply concerned you are and that you’ll look into it line. Don’t waste your time with your companies garbage lines on me. I already spoke to like 3 of you.

Bond Vet started out great for me. After helping to treat my dog with heartworms, things went significantly down hill at the very end when I had to hunt them down repeatedly for a prognosis after his final treatment and subsequent blood draw to see if he was still heartworm positive. I was told it would take 24-48 hours to get a response, but it was crickets. Only after I called three times and emailed twice that I got the answer I needed. For the price I paid for his treatment, I shouldn’t have had to do this. That’s really disappointing for a vet that started out great but ultimately failed at the end with something so simple as a call or email back.

My experience at bond vet was amazing!! I went in to get some vaccines for my dog he’s a nervous boy but when we were shown to the back Chloe made my dog comfortable immediately. That woman is so good with animals within a couple minutes my dog was comfortable acting like he this wasn’t the first time he was seeing her. The vaccines went great Dr. Connolly came in and also made my dog very very comfortable before giving him the shots. By the time it was all over my dog didn’t want to leave lol. Chloe was amazing and Dr. Connolly did great for my dog! They are such a great team and I can’t wait for my next appointment hopefully it’ll be with Chloe and Dr Connolly!!

Can’t imagine this place having bad reviews. I had an emergency situation with my pup and I didn’t want to take him to VCA, thankfully I was able to schedule an appointment on the same day within 30 min of my call. The office is gorgeous (the human clinics need to seriously step it up to look this good), and the staff was incredible. Loved Dr. O’Brien, she was absolutely incredible. The nurse was the sweetest. And loved the front desk lady whose name I never asked but she was amazing. The appointment took less than an hour and the meds helped within a couple of days. Couldn’t be happier. The best thing is? As fancy as this place is it was the least costly appointment I’ve ever had for my pup. Definitely going to come back and want to make it my primary location

The office is adorable and they give out free high quality treats while you are there. However, it is difficult to speak to the vet directly or even the location you go to directly. They have a call center which takes care of scheduling and fulfilling prescriptions etc, but since you don't speak to the location, it takes a long time to get answers or to have your meds be ready for pick up.I took my dog for an urgent care situation when my vet was booked. I explained that she was really anxious etc but since it was last min, I'm not sure I got paired with the best person for my dog's needs.I do appreciate the virtual appointments though since she doesn't do well with new people or at the vet. The virtual vets are very thorough and approachable.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience the last time I came here. My cat and I were with Dr. Lui for months receiving several 60 day refills. Last time we needed a refill, We were told she needed to come in for labs before that refill could be made. I made that appt and showed up expecting to see Dr. Lui for a quick follow up and perhaps minimal bloodwork as Jade should be closely monitored on this medication. But apparently , Dr. Lui has left Bond Vet but we were not notified of that even upon check-in. Suddenly a different vet came in the room, Dr. O’Brien (nearly 35 minutes late as well which had not been our prior experience). She was brusque and it became quickly apparent she had not even opened Jade’s chart. We were rushed through a treatment plan for Jade with no reference or understanding of her years long treatment that we had already tried. Dr. O’Brien then ordered the most intensive set of labs that Jade had done only 6 months before- again, it was clear that she did not know that. There was no upfront discussion of pricing in the room, and when I asked what some of these recommendations would cost, Dr. O’Brien didn’t know. The prices for all of these labs have gone up significantly since last summer and they are no longer offering discounts that we received then. Plus, we still did not receive the refill I needed in the first place, so I was forced to pick up a partial refill of only 5 pills to get Jade through while we waited on labs. I’ve never known a vet to withhold medication a patient has already been on for over a year, while waiting on labs. Bond Vet’s prescription pricing also works with a “filling fee” or something so there is a minimum price no matter how many you pick up. So, I paid ~$25 for 5 pills when I had been paying ~$36 for 60 when picking up refills through Dr. Lui. When Jade ran out again, but the labs still were not back, I was told I needed to pick up another short run of pills, which would be another minimum $25,plus I needed to return for more tests with another nurse visit fee. Now, after I had a breakdown in the waiting room because all told, I was now in the range of over $800 for labs and visits in the space of a week, someone did work with me on price and prescriptions. They knocked off the nurse visit fee (~$55) for the second visit as I should not have needed to come in again in the first place and agreed to fill the full script for Jade but only give me 20 pills pending labs. This was helpful but the main issues still remain. I’m sad to have had such a poor experience because Bond Vet had been a great reliable clinic. But it did not feel like that now. Still the clinic is clean, and the staff are friendly and seem to genuinely care about your pets. But it seems that new policies from above have made it feel like a money game, and it was frustrating to have our vet change without being told, and the new vet did not give us a good experience. I cannot recommend Bond Vet based on our last experience with them.July 2023: I can rave about so much here. The availability of appointments is wildly awesome, and the ease of booking through the app is so nice. The office is clean and pretty (and I love that the exam rooms are named after Lion King characters). It’s so easy to access records, notes, and invoices via the app. Best of all, the people are wonderful. We’ve seen Dr. Lui for our cat, Jade, who has horrible skin allergies. She is such a great vet. Kind, attentive, really listened to my long history, and went through multiple options with us. She also followed up very promptly with long emailed updates that were easy to simply reply to, and she answered back promptly. She even went the extra mile to consult with a cat dermatologist for us. Plus, the pricing is clear and upfront. They went through the cost in the exam room, and I was thrilled to get up front and that was the whole cost. No sudden “appt fee” or “equipment fee.” Just the total that was given to us in the exam room. I highly recommend BondVet.

Very disappointed in Bond Vet Alexandria...had high hopes. Conducted an annual exam for one of our cats on Oct 19th. This was a $488 visit including the exam and blood work. At this visit I inquired about anxiety meds for our cat for travel during Christmas and was told I could get the meds at that time or closer to travel. I elected to wait until closer to travel. On Dec 4th I called to get the meds and was told I had to bring the cat in for a new exam. When I asked about my Oct 19th request and notes in my file from the exam six weeks earlier, I was told the Vet who conducted the exam no longer worked there and an exam was required. I'm not sure if its poor record keeping or up-charging for an addition exam, but it's very disappointing.

I'm letting out my big secret, Bond Vet is the best vet I've been to in DC, and I've had dogs for 15 years. I've had plenty of great experiences (the people) are amazing everywhere, but Bond is extraordinary because it has the amazing people plus the convenient locations PLUS the "need it now, or tomorrow" availability of appointments. It is sooo easy to just go online and find what you need and book it. I also love the transparency of their pricing model so you know the costs upfront. So next time your wonderful, amazing vet tells you that you can't get in for 3 weeks, and your fur baby really can't wait, think of this review.

We saw Dr. O’Brien for an urgent appointment for our dog’s eye injury that turned out to be a corneal eye ulcer (always head to the vet/ER with eye care once you realize your pet is squinting or pawing their eye excessively!!). Really appreciate the Bond team taking our urgent care appointment. I especially appreciate Dr. O’Brien’s strong course of treatment which included not only the standard antibiotic eye drops for eye ulcers but oral antibiotics and pain relief meds for our dog as well. Thanks to her approach, it jumpstarted our dog’s healing from his painful eye ulcer and he is doing much better now.

I was about to take my cat to Bond Vet, but it turned out that his condition was critical enough to warrant an emergency room visit. The doctor and staff were honest about that and redirected me by giving me options for several different facilities. The individual at the front desk was very kind to me and my cat which I will always remember. Thanks guys! Velcro is okay now :)

The staff at Bond Vet is incredibly friendly and professional and I always feel like my puppy is in great hands. They usually always have availability when I need it, even last minute, and follow up after every visit to check in. The staff is super compassionate and communicative which I greatly appreciate and they have very transparent pricing. Don’t hesitate to bring your fur child here!

We moved out to Virginia from the west coast few weeks ago… soon after we got here, I have noticed my dog’s tooth had some issue so I needed to take her to see a vet. I was referred to Bond Vet while doing our morning walks in the neighborhood where we lived. I am so glad we came to Bond Vet. My dog is always afraid of going to veterinary. Each time I have to give her medications the night before and the day of her appointment. In addition to the medication, I also had to use muzzle on her. Visiting Bond Vet was such a great experience for both my dog and myself. Dr O’Neil and Chloe was amazing and Chloe was able to get my dog comfortable enough to have the doctor examine her!! I couldn’t believe the experience we had and we’ll come back again!! Thank you so much!!

Recently moved to the area and needed my cat to be seen ASAP. We were able to make a same day appointment online and was taken back almost immediately upon arrival. Dr.Connolly and Chloe were AMAZING with our cat Max! They took their time explaining his diagnosis and treatment plan and was 100% transparent with fees. They have also followed up multiple times to check in and see how our guy is doing! :) We appreciate you all and will continue going to Bond Vet!

What a great addition to our community. Had a last minute issue with my baby and was able to book online and get in immediately. They even contacted and received my other vet's records before I got there. Very friendly and personable. Highly recommend.
