Highest recommendation for dog care in the DMV. I’ve lived in DC for almost 20 years and have never experienced better professionalism and sincere love for dogs. The team is so caring and truly get to know your pup. 100 stars.

We can always count on them to care for our dogs when we have to leave town. Never any concerns here and truly some awesome staff!

We've taken our golden retriever here twice for a grooming session and they always do a great job for a reasonable price. We've never used the daycare so can't speak to that service.

Our pups were worn out and happy after! They always know their names, even if we haven't been in often. Our lab can be overly energetic after a longer break and they do an amazing job of reacclimating him (penning him as needed to calm down) and keeping us updated.

We had to find a alternate boarding facility for our aging, anxious beagle, Buddy, and A Dog’s Day Out was just what we were looking for. They took great care of him, despite his neediness. They even posted several pics of him on Instagram throughout the week, and it was a relief to know he was comfortable. Thank you to the staff who did a fantastic job.

I've been on the lookout for a reliable doggy daycare, as I've been to others in the DMV area, and haven't had the best experiences. Thank goodness for A Dog's Day Out! Right when you park in the lot, there is a sign on their door that pretty much says to be mindful if there is another family already inside waiting to check in/out. Not only does that help with dogs who are more anxious when they see new dogs, but this is also great when it comes to health precautions.Their layout is divided by small and large dogs, which is great to control temperament. Their facility is also very clean and I constantly see employees mopping the floors and cleaning, which is much appreciated. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable - it's awesome when they recognize our dog and say hello by his name.I've taken my dog here for daycare and boarding, and he always comes back exhausted, but extremely happy. Every time I drop him off, he doesn't look back to say bye, as he's always so happy to go to daycare. Prices are extremely fair here too, and you can buy daycare passes, which is useful for those who need to go into work on a daily basis.I highly recommend everyone check out A Dog's Day Out in the Van Dorn/Eisenhower area - you won't be disappointed!

Our pup loves this place! He goes there for both daycare and boarding and has never had an issue. Staff know all of the dogs by name and are super responsive. We love having such a trustworthy place for our dog to stay while we are out of town.

My dogs absolutely love going to daycare here. They always come back with big smiles and tuckered out! They spent the night recently and had a blast as well! I love that this location has a staff member on site during the night to ensure the safety of the dogs and facility. Only complaint is that my pups do come home a bit stinky so cleaning practices in the dog yards could be improved- but it’s not the end of the world for me, I know they won’t smell like roses after a day or play!

My dog loves this place. Highly recommend if your dog does well running with the pack. Also, the staff are amazing and have a great relationship with all the dogs.

This place could use a refresher course on front desk management. I can't count the number of times I've come to pick up my dog, only to find the front desk deserted or staff chatting away and ignoring clients or the telephone. If you need to call, good luck reaching anyone either. The most recent time I came to pick up my dog, the woman at the front desk was staring at the dogs in the indoor play area. I stood around for a few minutes hoping she'd notice her surroundings. Nope. I had to ask if I could get my dog.Otherwise no complaints.

My dog really enjoys going here. He is so excited when we pull up and he is not a huge fan of day camp. It took a while to find this place and I'm really glad that we did. They're reasonably priced and they do a great job grooming as well. My only complaint is that you do not need reservations so they really do not limit how many dogs are there. I asked about this and the girl at the front desk told me they've never been overcrowded..

Beth, I'm glad they didn't let your dog stay because a dog that snaps not once, but 3 times when interacting with other dogs doesn't belong in a dog daycare setting, in my opinion. My 6 month old dog Sailor loves going to this Dog's Day Out facility and playing with all of her new friends. She's been going since she was about 4 months old and can't wait to get out of the car every time we go. I love the staff who obviously love the dogs and what they're doing. The nail grooming is very good and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this day care for your dog.

Our dog attended daycare at Dog's Day Out - Van Dorn for almost 3 years. He truly loved it! The staff is awesome and truly care about each individual dog. Our dog had a few incidents over the years and each time the staff took care of the situation and made sure everything was ok.The grooming services available are also great. I would highly recommend Dog's Day Out to anyone looking for a dog daycare in Alexandria.

Sent my dog home because of a rash that was just the discoloration of her skin by her ears. When we brought her back for grooming, it took longer than 5 hours. Now we put in a boarding request for July in May and have heard nothing- sent emails and left voice messages. I no longer trust them with my dog, if they cannot be contacted during non-emergent times. Thank you for replying. It’s great to know you can reply to this negative feedback within hours but still unable to respond to emails and phone messages sent weeks ago.

We've been happy clients for years. Our dog always bounds in, tail wagging, and is greeted by name no matter how much time has passed between visits. Never think twice about boarding him here- his own vacation!

We’ve done doggie daycare and boarding at this facility and have been happy with our dog’s experience. Just book boarding in advance if it’s a busy weekend, they fill up!

I took my puppy in for a grooming appointment and they could not have done a better job! Called the day before and they accepted me the next morning, most groomers near Old Town were booked for days if not weeks. Very very kind and caring staff. Will be back for the daycare when needed and certainly for the grooming!

When I lived in DC I brought my two dogs here and they absolutely loved it! They always came home tired and worn out from all the fun they had playing, not only with their other doggie friends but the staff as well! The establishment is always kept clean (inside and out) which I absolutely love! But the main thing is I love that I could just drop my babies off no worries and know that they were well taken care of whether I was just dropping them off for a day of fun at daycare or if they were staying the night for boarding! Plus the owner Colleen is always there Monday through Friday in the mornings working the front desk which I also liked! ADDO Van Dorn is the best doggie daycare/boarding/grooming place my dogs have ever been to and I highly recommend this place!

We love sending our dog here! They have two play spaces that are separated by energy level and a full spa to pamper your pup. The staff really takes care of our dog and it’s clear they love him as much as we do ❤️

I love the idea of the place. It’s good for pups to socialize and to play. But every time I take my dogs there, when I go pick them up, they’re locked in a kennel. I pay for 3 hours of play and instead they stay locked up. My dogs are extremely friendly and social- everywhere we go, everyone comments on how social they are. At first I’ll ask ‘how’d they do?!’ And they say ‘they did amazing’ and when I ask why they’re locked up then they tell me ‘oh they were being aggressive. Excuse me?! I have a 1yo and a 6mo husky. They’re not aggressive! They’ve never been aggressive and as an owner who takes them to dog parks every other day, I think I would know my dogs’ behaviors. Anyway, again, the idea is pretty cool, but it upsets me that I pay for my dogs to stay locked, and if I don’t ask why there there, no one will say anything.

Nice place. I would recommend it. Why not five stars? A little Warehousy (I know a place that takes your dogs to the country on the weekends.), you pay the same price for two hours less on the weekends, and the groomer insist on jacking my dogs' cut. But the bottom line, I like this place and the owner is very nice and cares about animals.

Very friendly staff that give attention to all the dogs. The indoor and outdoor play areas provide great stimulation and clean environment. Our dog gets excited every time we drop her off.

My dogs love it here. They are excited when I drop them off and exhausted by the time I pick them up. I know my boys are being looked after when im told they dont eat during lunch and suggested I bring something to add to thier food so they will. *Barlee & Chance*

We've been using ADDO on Eisenhower for four years. Colleen runs an efficient shop. You can wash your dog using their facilities. This includes shampoo, soap, dryer, walk-in tub, ear cleaners, and brushes. No dog hair in your home bathtub or wet dog running around. The best is when we're running late at work and can board our pup for the night with just a phone call. Two thumbs up.

Definitely the place for dog lovers. The staff is experienced with all dog sizes and personalities. The make going away for a few days much more comfortable knowing our fur baby is in good hands.

This place of business should more appropriately be called "A Dog's Day Don't!" We are life-long dog owners and lovers. Currently we own two lovely and playful pups, one is under a year and very playful while the other is nearly five and is slowing down in her play style. The five year old is a rottie mix, and she has been to four other daycares in the area and passed with flying colors (Wag More Dogs, FUR Get me NOT, Woofs, & Board Hound). All of these establishments characterized our dog as the perfect daycare dog. Today, this same dog was rejected. Our five year old rottie mix has a specific play style, she likes to play on her own terms. So when four dogs approached her she snapped to let them know she wasn't up for that. The owner immediately corrected her (in an inappropriate manner) and isolated the one dog who caused the snapping. Our dog was minding her own business when another smaller dog approached her private area (an area that dogs like to protect) and she once again snapped at the dog. The snapping is a communication tool that dogs use to let each other know that "Hey, I am not cool with that." After the "third" snap the owner, came out to let me know she wasn't feeling good about her staying. I asked pointed questions based on the daycares operations, which she didn't really enjoy answering. They don't organize the groups based upon play styles, or even ages. I let the owner know that our rottie wasn't too crazy about puppies (Frankly has never been despite our best efforts, but we love her anyway). She told me that was going to be a problem because they had a lot of young dogs. I let her know that our dog had been to four other daycares and we're only switching because we wanted to save some money. She informed me that those other four daycare had different levels of tolerance and that some of the daycares wouldn't even say ONE bad thing about their client's dogs.In my 30+ years of owning dogs, I have had more than one aggressive dog. This rottie mix is not aggressive, she's just particular about who she plays with and how she plays with them. How cold four other places that do the same type of business be wrong. The facts don't add up. Don't take your dog to this place of business - they discriminate against dogs by breed (Pitbulls included). Any educated dog owner knows that any dog can be "aggressive" under the right conditions. Best of luck in succeeding when you turn down quality clients who could have referred additional business to you. If anyone is looking to buy a daycare, I would buy these people out because they CLEARLY don't:1) Understand business2) Understand Dogs3) Care about dogs4) Like dogs.
