Customer service was awful. We were finishing our trip and on the way home. We arrived at the hotel around 7:30pm on 3/14/24. When we got into the room, we saw a stink bug so my husband got rid of it in the toilet. Also, we found one more at the bathroom so my husband got rid of it too. I really hate bugs so I was not comfortable to stay in the room. My husband went to the front desk to change our room but night shift lady said it was full and that the manager will be there in the morning. I searched online for available rooms and it had two more rooms the same as ours and a Queen Suite left. The next morning my husband went to talk about the bugs, and morning shift old lady said that the manager will be there in an hour and ask if my husband took photos of the bugs. (Of course he didn’t take any photos, he just killed them and flushed them down the toilet) Her behavior didn’t have any empathy at all. Her behavior was she didn’t care about the bugs what do you want. They seem to know about the bug problem as well. They had already scheduled an extermination. It was as if he was helping to confirm for her that she had the room on her extermination list. When I heard from my husband how she behaved I was not happy, so I went up to talk with her and her behavior was awful. She didn’t feel sorry what so ever and she treated me as if I was the problem.I was pretty upset so I went to my room to try to search for more bugs. Of course there were more bugs in the room. I took a photo and went to the front desk. I told her that I took more photos and need to show and she said “you didn’t have bugs? Now you have?” WHAT!!! She is awful!!! I was telling her how she was talking so rude to a customer and giving me a lecture on how to have a conversation. She was arguing with me. She treated me so horrible. I believe she was the manager. Even she was not wearing any name tag!She made me feel so horrible. We tried to use Marriott for our trips as kids grow up. We had a great experience from all the other Marriott hotels we used this trip. We regret that we could have stayed at other locations but choose this one for our last stay. Somehow in the Marriot app this place had a good rating. The rating on Facebook is much lower.I believe this is about her. If you have any complaint, you don’t want to deal with her. She will make you feel that you are the problem.I wish I didn’t need to deal with her. It was the end of our trip and she made me feel awful.

The fridge in my room made an awful sound from 10pm to 4am. When I went down to the front desk with a video of the sound, the employee seemed bothered I was interrupting his show. He told me they would check it out and would let maintenance know, but did not offer a room change. I asked if it was ok to unplug the fridge and he said that was fine. There is no way to unplug it without moving a huge shelf, which I couldn’t do. I ended up shoving towels inside of it to muffle the sound. When I took the survey afterwards, they messaged me back saying that the employee DID offer me a room change but I declined. Blatant lie. Do not recommend coming here, I regret not booking with the motel down the way.

Gave them a one star because they double charged me and won't refund my money!Stayed at Fairfield Inn & Suites in Abingdon Feb 17 & 18th booked my room thru Expedia paid with Affirm, upon arriving at the hotel when I checked in the lady asked me to insert my credit card I did, & then she asked me to insert it again, I asked her why for the second time she said that is for incidentals, I told her that I had already paid with Affirm and she looked at her computer & told me she just saw that I had already paid and she will take care of it. The next morning I saw her at the desk & asked her if she took care of it and she said she did. Later that week I noticed on my credit card statement that I had been charge $244 plus for the room for 2 nights, so I said I will wait a couple of more days to see if the charge will come off. So on Feb 29th I noticed it was still on my account and I decided to stop by in person at Fairfield Inn & talk to them again. I talked to the lady at the front desk she looked it up and said that it had been reversed on Feb 26th and for me to give it a couple more days. Well a week went by and still hasn't dropped. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they refused to refund me my money even though I sent them a screen shot of my bank statement showing it was a charge, and they swore up and down they never charged me. So now it is exactly 2 months later and they still won't refund my money, I paid $488 for 2 nights because they double charged me. My next step is to file a complain with the FTC and with the Virginia Attorney General's office. My advice stay away from this property.

Just passing through yesterday. I have stayed in Fairfield by Marriott in other locations with nothing but great things to say. This location had beds that were unsleepable. At 7 AM this morning we were woken to the sound of orbital tools and vacuums on the other side of the wall. Breakfast was good. But it would have been better with some sleep. I wish I had gone to the Red Roof and saved 70$. The experience was no different.

Great clean building and rooms. Welcoming and homie feel. Staff are welcoming and patient and very helpful. Rooms are great, comfy with a nice view, nicer as you go up. Either side is a good view on its own. It's well worth the price. And the breakfast is notably satisfying.Rooms: Great rooms as said above.Nearby activities: Close by to many things and a theater just up the road for some good musicals and others.Safety: Security doors to protect patrons. Well lit up around the hotel and open so you feel a sense of security and safety.Walkability: It's close to a gas station for random buys at night..Fast food close by... Really it's everything you need in a pinch close by walking distance.Food & drinks: If you don't want to walk, the lobby is equipped with vending machines for snacks and drinks. Awesome.

Stayed here so we could bike the Va Creeper Trail. Good location, friendly staff, immaculately clean rooms, dining area , and exercise room. It looks brand new. Very convenient to everything in Abingdon.Free breakfast is very good and 12 noon checkout allows you to sleep in.Will definitely stay here again when visiting the area.

I hate when prices are way inflated during nearby events which sucks….So that’s part of the 3 star rating.Rooms are ok, typical boring Fairfield but at least somewhat clean. During my standard bedbug check they haven’t cleaned the bed skirts in sometime. Another reason for the 3 star.Staff was friendly as expected with Fairfield.Of course we only clean rooms every other day now since “covid” (poor excuse in 2023)Finally as I am writing this with out coffee! They of course no longer offer complementary coffee and water in the front desk area. Uggg of course it’s the “Covid” excuse….Give me a break it’s about money and not wanting to deal with it….Remember you are in the hospitality business Fairfield/ Marriott!!!!

Decent hotel for Abingdon but lacking in the details. No dental floss available, no bandaids, no extra pillows (some people don’t return them sorry - what?!), breakfast constantly missing items that they are out of such as yogurt, butter, milk.If you don’t have enough pillows - maybe buy some more? That’s kind of an essential thing for a hotel. The little shop was out of stock of all meds, a simple thing to keep in stock I would think given there are pharmacies nearby they could even purchase from.Housekeeping even though we were on a three night stay we were told at check in that it is every other day but the first day doesn’t count so we wouldn’t get any housekeeping which makes no sense and the Covid excuse in 2023 is really getting old.Rooms were clean and the common areas were clean and the beds are typical Fairfield.

Customer is always wrong. Staff was not consistent at cleaning rooms, They would not clean the room when they said they would. I have a written note from them saying they would clean the room on May 2, 2023. They did not. Instead, they claimed they cleaned the room on May 1st but they forgot to refresh supplies, empty trash, and make the beds. After several encounters with the staff (at the desk - not the service providers) they claim and they billed me for 4 days of Enhanced Internet ($20) which I did not request and upon asking for proof of such request they denied to do so. BTW, the only way to request Enhanced Internet is to know the name and room number. Only the customer and the desk staff have that information so anyone could have requested the Enhanced Internet. Corporate Marriott refused to reconcile the matter. After a 10 day stay they cleaned my room once. Hotel is nice. Staff needs re-training as the person who handed me the bill for incidentals said she was not going to reverse the charges because she was offended that I did not say "good morning" to her each day (she actually used the word "ignored"). Very mean and spiteful person. Filed complaint with Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, Consumer Protection Section.Update: Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, Consumer Protection Section is nothing more than a message passing service between business and customer. They are unable to compel a resolution. Since the $20 is essentially stealing and a crime, further action with law enforcement and small claims is next. Naturally, BBB is another option but then again, they just file reports which is better than nothing.

One night stay while in the area to ride the Virginia Creeper Rail Trail. Location was right off the highway. Google directions weren't accurate in terms of finding the entrance. Turn by the bank.Rooms were big, clean, and comfortable. Nicely appointed. Breakfast was good with both hot and cold choices.Small indoor pool. Good sized fitness center. Coin washer and dryer on site.Staff were friendly. They use a meeting room to park bikes if you don't want to leave them with your vehicle overnight. Room is locked. Staff let you in.Would stay here again if in the area.

Arrived at hotel after 10 pm. Hotel fairly full as empty parking spots were few and far between. Checked in, proceeded to room (tired and ready to sleep). One queen bed had a pink spot on the sheet and comforter. And a hair on the sheet. Pink spot appeared to be either lipstick or nail polish. Called front desk to see if another room was available, nope, they were booked. Asked to have a change of sheets, was told I could come down to front desk to get them (assuming front desk was busy) husband brought them up when arrived 30 min later. We changed our own sheets. Was able to get to bed around midnight. Bed was too firm for me, I tossed and turned most of the night. Finally got to sleep around 5am only to be awoken by a 6am fire alarm 🤯. Got up to check out the situation nothing seemed amiss so laid back down only to be jolted again by the fire alarm going off a second time. Needless to say, I was up for the day at that point. Checked out, no question regarding our stay was asked.Husband and daughter said beds were hard but they managed a decent night sleep.Overall other than the sheet/comforter issue the room was clean. Didn’t eat breakfast there. Check in fairly quick & easy (except I still had to go by front desk to check in even though I activated room key through the app). Only Marriott in that area. Wouldn’t stay there again. Beds too hard. Will be checking in regarding the credit never received, will update.

Great stay! The front desk staff, especially Leigh B were awesome. After a rough drive in, very welcoming and helpful. Room clean, bed comfy, breakfast good and staff very helpful. It is hard to be in the service industry these days, especially when everyone seems to have forgotten the golden rule and really appreciate everyone seemed to have gone the extra mile at this place.

Stay out of the pool!!!! We went here and the night we checked in the receptionist was rude uncaring and lacked any work ethic. Then in the am, the rude lady was gone and the morning staff was delightful and accommodating even let us use the conference room for a bday party. We then used their pool. Holy chlorine we all had burning eyes and had to wash off after. Later in the day we found are children had chlorine poisoning and it got very scary. We then called the hotel when the symptoms started and we got the same lady from the night before, we simply asked her to see if the pool was recently shocked. She tried to tell us it was a salt water pool and the maintenance wasn’t there so she couldn’t ask. When I asked if she could go to the pool room and check if there was a chart she said she couldn’t leave her desk. She offered no help at all and gave me nothing but attitude. We will not be returning. Stay away from this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel on October 26, 2022 in room 505. This hotel was as expected - nice clean room, fairly comfortable and generally friendly staff and a standard but good breakfast selection.I stay a lot at Marriott properties (785 lifetime nights) and occasionally I feel compelled to share a great experience. This experience was not great. After checking out and getting on the road to our final destination my wife realized she left some clothing items behind, a swimsuit and coverup. I contacted the hotel through the chat application in the Bonvoy App on my phone and let them know what and where the items were left down to the exact dresser drawer. I was told they would check with housekeeping and let me know.At the end of the day I had not received any information about the items we left. I called the hotel the next day on 28 October at 1:49 p.m. and inquired about the items and was told nothing was turned in by housekeeping. They told me they do not ask housekeeping to look for items and that they are not liable for any items left and perhaps my wife had misplaced them. We did double check our bags after unpacking at our destination to confirm that indeed the items were left where we recalled them being left at the hotel.I told the hotel clerk who I was speaking with that I was very disappointed, she replied "over a swimsuit" and I said yes. It was not the value of the items and I was not expecting them to mail them I told her we were returning that way at the end of our trip and would have stopped to get the items. Very disappointed in the cavalier attitude of this staff member I dealt with and the way our left behind property was handled.

I absolutely hate to give bad reviews. For this hotel, the only redeeming quality is the location. Customer service both at the front desk and that of maintaining rooms is severely lacking at this Fairfield Inn. I've never been on a vacation that I haven't enjoyed and up until now, I have never encountered a front desk rep that was so completely rude and uncaring. I've been a Marriott rewards member since 2005 & we have stayed in Marriott brand hotels all across the country. Upon checking in, I went to our room and it smelled horribly of mold. When I went downstairs to get my room exchanged for another, I was told they would try to book me at a sister property because I had paid with points. I earned those points by staying in Marriott brand hotels for years. I asked nicely that I be given a room of somebody who hadn't checked in yet and the person at the desk tried to insist that she switch me to a sister property, if there was availability. I got insistant and she switched our room. Of course she had to let me back into the room we wanted to check out of to retrieve our belongings and quickly told me that she couldn't smell a thing. I ignored this comment and went to our new room just the same. I did feel bad for the person who would eventually get our old stinky room. The new room was fine and it didn't smell at all and we had a good night's stay except for the fact we were missing some room supplies. The next day we met the person who maintains the rooms and asked if we could have our dishes taken away, some towels, some toilet paper, which seemed to be in short supply upon check-in, and some soap, which which was non-existent upon our check-in. She said she would take care of restocking our room. We went on a bike ride for 6+ hours and when we came back our room had not been serviced and none of our supplies had been restocked. When I went to the front desk and requested the supplies, the same front desk person who had checked me in the night before told me that they just had too much to do that day. We told her that the women in charge of cleaning our room told us she would take care of it. She was right outside our door when we left that morning. The front desk person continued to make excuses for her staff member and then decided to start calling us names. Being called names is not acceptable when you are a customer, even if you are a points customer. We were not disrespectful but we were upset that we still were missing basic necessities from our room. The front desk person promised to bring us up the supplies we needed and take away our garbage. I told my husband not to get upset and we proceeded to our room. After 10 minutes of waiting on a promise to restock our room, I had to go back down to the front desk and get the supplies myself. I was handed garbage bags, as well, to deal with the garbage, given toilet paper, and a bottle of body wash. I came back to our room and put the garbage can outside the door to hopefully be picked up. Apparently, I am wrong and I am just so disappointed. The crazy thing is, just about the same thing happened again the next day. My husband asked the woman in the hall if she would be servicing our room and was told yes. We arrived back in our room after a day out to find clean towels and the garbage taken but they did not clean the counters off, make beds, leave us any garbage bags and did not bring back our trash can from the day before. I think Marriott brands should start leaving some spray cleaner and paper towels in the room and a sign indicating which housekeeping chores guests are now responsible for. I definitely feel like I wasted points on this hotel stay. Abingdon is great, however for us, this hotel was our worst travel experience ever.

I did not stay here but idid visit a friend here and I know the rooms were super nice and exceptionally clean. I can handle a place needing a revamp as long as it is as clean as this place. I also want to recognize the front desk staff. No one got in unless it was under the watchful eye of the front desk staff( not that we tried). Super nice and accommodating. You can't ado for anything more in a hotel.

We are returning to this hotel because of a prior experience. We have consistently enjoyed our stay and this visit was just as nice! The room was clean and spacious for our family of 5 and the kids LOVED the breakfast. Extra thanks to the staff for their care at every turn.

Excellent! This hotel was a perfect find in little Abingdon. The rooms were quiet and clean with comfortable beds. The breakfast had something for everyone even my vegetarian husband! The biggest complaint was from my son who wanted muffins, but the marble bread was a good substitute. The staff was friendly and checked us in quickly without issue. Would stay again.
