I've been wanting to try this place for years and finally decided to treat myself to fried clams. I ordered a small but was shocked to find only 6 clams in the bag when I got to my car. I paid $21.95 for these. I have always gotten small orders of clams from other places and they are usually mounded up and spilling over the edge. That was my first and last time going to this place. It took me a couple minutes to eat them and I'm still starving and now have to go buy another dinner. The price on their menu on the website is not up to date either.

Tasty food at a fair price! Menu was pretty large, and they serve a ton of flavours of Giffords ice cream. My fries were hot and crispy, and my burger was cooked exactly how I ordered it. It was our first time here, and the ordering was a little confusing, but nothing too difficult. Mainly just that it was hard to tell where the line was for ordering vs who was waiting for food. It was a busy night though so it might've been a little chaotic from that.

Cash only, ATM on site! Great atmosphere sitting outside, gives you that 50's diner vibe. Just the basics on our first visit, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwich, fries, onion rings and whole bellie clams.Reasonably priced, fast service, seemed clean while waiting inside for our food, staff was friendly, music created more of that 50's atmosphere.Icecream seemed to be a popular order while we waited.

Love the outdoor seating, wide open, fun. The fried clams were quite good, not greasy. The hamburger and fish burger were average.

Ben and Jerry’s is a brand I grew up with as a kid and to now learn about the history was incredible! I greatly enjoyed learning about the different types of ice cream made in the factory. The ice cream selection is extensive but I highly recommend taking the time to read the menu and see what’s new.

My family and i were driving around on vacation looking for something to eat. We drove by this place that looked really nice. The White Cottage Snack Bar. It stood out as we drove by. There were seating outside along the river where you can eat which was another thing that caught my eye. I went in and checked out the menu. I took a few pictures of what they currently have and prices. Inside this place was pretty dirty and the food was very expensive. We looked online at some reviews of this place and people were saying their food was tasteless. So we didn't want to take the chance of spending a lot of money for lunch if people are saying its not the best tasting food. So we decided to leave and we ate elsewhere.

I usually like to leave good reviews soooo I will start with the good things we found about this place. It has a sense of history and nostalgia. The Ice cream was good and the river side location allows you or your family to stop in and cool off. Even your dog.Now if your going for food well get ready for "child size" portions of bland over priced food. Skip the food, get a cone, and enjoy the scenery.

Great char broiled burgers, fish sandwiches, excellent fried chicken, chili, bisque etc. Great menu, quick and affordable. Cool fifties era music... (Pretty and professional servers too lol).

First and foremost the staff were very nice. The restaurant was also clean. However, was so so disappointed in the portion size of the food for the price. The clam chowder was so delicious but it was in a styrofoam bowl that couldn’t even hold 1 measuring cup of soup. ($6??) also never have been up this close to Maine so we saw they had a lobster roll and boy how disappointing was that. It was a piece of toasted bread, one piece of lettuce but a good amount of lobster on it. No seasonings and dry. I hate to leave bad reviews but I have to put a buyer beware for this. Our whole meal was $65 and we were still hungry leaving. We decided to get a lobster roll from amatos in the maple gas station for $16 and it was absolutely delicious.

I received cheerful service from the girl at the cash register, and enjoyed the open wi-fi while I waited for my order, clam chowder and roasted corn chowder to go. The roasted corn chowder was smooth and creamy and perfect for a chilly day like today.

Frozen-fried food in tiny portion for the price. With the greater area generally lacking quality eateries, this one, with its charm and character, has a potential to be “the place” but falls short in my opinion. Oh, and cash only, please.

Great pitstop for a burger and fries that we heard about from a couple friendly local folks during our escapades in Woodstock. Awesome picnic area that runs along the stream that flows through town was an added perk. They seem to be very busy but working hard to fill the orders and keep patrons happy.

You will find a variety of comfort foods that are prepared well but nothing really stands out and it truly feels like a snack bar at a baseball game type of food. It was good and it will hit the spot but that's about it. The staff is super nice and friendly, and the food is prepared on time. Plus sitting outside by the river is very pleasant. It's cash only though cause its 1970? Honestly we almost didn't come here as we weren't sure we had enough cash. They should just charge the 3% credit card fee and make this an option.Parking: plenty of parking spaceKid-friendliness: Lots of simple kid friendly options and the ice cream is a big sell for any kid.

Why didn't I take any photos of this super cool little roadside place? After an amazing round of golf in the mountains, I was starving and had zero idea where to eat. I was visiting from Texas and it was my first time ever in the area. On a whim, I pulled in to this joint and it was awesome! The burger was fresh, hot and had a great flavor! With perfect weather, sitting outside was beautiful. After my ice cream I was on my way, hoping that one day I will be back and bring the wife!

Great little place to get lunch. Good variety, good prices. Reminds me of the 50's diner! Ate lunch then got a cone and skipped rocks in the river. Recommended visit!

I couldn’t decide what flavor to get so I asked the woman working here what she would do.She wisely asked: why not get both which was the absolute perfect answer and one I had not considered. So I got a scoop of vermont maple walnut mixed with black raspberry. Incredible and thick and what you would want from a vermont ice cream. Can’t wait to come back!

I've driven past this area staple upwards of a hundred times, but since the adjacent Woodstock Farmers Market was closed on Sunday, it was well overdue that I give this recent flood victim business a try.Atmosphere? They're still recovering from Vermont flood part two a few months ago after being decimated years earlier in Hurricane Irene.Food? The all-time sloppiness, chunkier, bean laden chili dog of my life... but actually good.Service? Order at the window, and they call your name.Price? About $15 for a chili dog, fries, and coke.

A wonderful place to grab a quick bite! The prices can't be beat. Eat your meal inside, Or sit in a swinging table outside. When you're done wade in the water right outside. If you're with kids, bring a towel, they will definitely want to play in the water This place only accepts cash

Just went to get ice cream, I ordered a Sundae and they had no whipped cream, and they were going to leave off the nuts and the cherries too! When they swirled the soft serve around they leave a massive hole in the middle, so you pay $6 for a tiny ice cream not supposed to be a large! Four U in West Leb serves four times the amount of ice cream and it's perfect in every way! I will never go back to the white cottage and I've been going there since I was literally 2 years old!😐

We finished watching all the balloons launch at the Queechee Balloon Festival. We hadn't had dinner yet. The vendors at the festival were closed, closing, or out of supplies. Besides after 2 days of Festival food or budget was pretty battered. Since it was late on a Sunday our options were limited, We were heading back to the campsite so I could grill some burgers in the dark when we saw that White Cottage was still open and serving. It is a simple roadside diner with a great spot on the river. Seating is inside or out. The menu was pretty extensive and the pricing was good. We didn't ask about GF options. My son's strawberry shake was too much for him to finish, so I got to find out it was tasty and had chunks of strawberries. It was definitely a good stop and someplace we will have to put on our list to go back when we are this way again.

Maybe an off day but this was the most DISGUSTING lunch we’ve ever had. 2 burgers that were well done x5. Literally black crunchy hockey pucks.A hotdog that looked like it barely escaped from an heavy duty fire. Even a fried chicken sandwich was so overcooked it was not edible. Fortunately someone was smart to order a grilled cheese sandwich. So 1 extra star goes to that and the scenery.
