A nice historic building with a variety of room types. Photos and posters from the history of the hotel and town are all over, almost like a museum. Every floor has a few couches in a shared space, and the first floor has a shared kitchen. If you need to cook, the communal kitchen should be fine. The hotel has radiators that keep each room nice and toasty (in our case, a bit too warm) and windows that open wide. We opened our windows to cool the room down and it worked great. The downside of this is that the hotel is located about a block away from where a bunch of trains drive through and stop. Throughout the night there was some quiet train noise, but around 6 am they honked their horn. Bring earplugs!Nearby there are a bunch of cute little boutiques and art galleries.Note: if you get a queen and two twin room, the twin beds are stacked like a trundle. The second one is hidden.

Absolutely incredible experience at this hotel. Checked in a little after midnight after a four hour drive from Burlington, coming back from watching the eclipse. The woman at the front desk who checked us in was extremely kind, helpful, and understanding. The room was lovely, clean, and had a nice view. The furniture in the hotel is eclectic in such a fun way. We really enjoyed our brief stay at such a neat historic hotel.

My girlfriend and I were in the area Friday and found ourselves here for the night. I'm not gonna lie we were a little sketched out at first but we ended up really enjoying our stay here. The room was big and very clean. This is really an amazing old building with some really cool history not to mention it is located in the perfect spot. I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know . You really can't beat it especially for the price! So anyone in the area, if there is a room available do not hesitate to stay here, I think you'll really enjoy it!

I stay in a hotel an average of 120 nights a year and while staying at a cookie cutter Hampton Inn or Courtyard and getting my free bottle of water and bag of chips for being a Diamond level guest is nice, I really love it when I have the opportunity to stay somewhere like the Hotel Coolidge.Historic building, walking distance to restaurants and shops (and Amtrak), and a short drive to just about anything you'd want in Lebanon, NH across the river. It is about a 10 minute drive from the Lebanon Airport.I had a King Suite with separate living room and one and 1/2 baths. Very clean and furnishings in good repair. It was nice to have a minifridge and microwave in the room, hidden away in a little wet bar closet. It's also great to be able to relax and watch TV in a hotel room without sitting on a bed or a rolling desk chair like most hotels. I stayed on a cold night in February and appreciated the two rolling electric heaters in the room to regulate the temperature. Impressive building with friendly staff at check-in, and at check-out even at 5am. Free coffee and water is available in the lobby. I thought it was very good value at the price. The only very minor challenge is parking on a busy night downtown. The hotel does have parking behind the building but it is limited (and it had recently snowed so not everyone was in the marked spaces) but I was able to find a spot on the street that was fine for the night.Hotels like this are vital to keeping historic downtowns alive and I am happy to be able to be a patron. I've also posted recommendation on an Amtrak group I am in as this would be a perfect weekend excursion up from NYC on the train.

The service at this incredibly interesting hotel was absolutely amazing and accommodating. They were very kind. My daughter had a medical procedure done and they went above and beyond the entire time we were there! Staff was very attentive and helpful. I can't wait to go back, and I'll be recommending it to everyone I know!Rooms: Very cute and rich with history.Noteworthy details: Again, I'll note that the staff was just amazing. We couldn't have been happier with the entire experience.

I really enjoyed *my* stay.Let’s put this in perspective. I had to go to Dartmouth for a Hospital procedure, and the prep was not fun (colonoscopy- I’ll let you do the math), so I wanted to stay somewhere closer to the hospital than where I live near the NY state line. Here’s a summary:PROS: staff is amazing, location is pretty easy to find, parking also, historical property, no frills, mature crowd (as in no kids “riding elevators” or running down hallways or babies crying), no weird delinquents hovering around the property, etc. I really appreciated the train sounds, as they run through early morning and if I lived there and didn’t hear the regular train schedule my subconsciousness would probably wake me up lol. I did enjoy the old school building vibe and kinda felt like I was staying at my aunts historical 1840’s catalogue home, likely updated around the same time in the 1930’s.CONS: My husband is 6’1” and the shower nozzle was too short for him. (This is a regular issue at most hotels so nothing new for him to complain about.) Exterior hall noise. It’s an old building so yeah, the floor creaks when you walk around. He seemed to sleep ok so I think this was just in the morning when people started to be checking out and things as we were right by the main stairs so lots of activity. Parking is tight and when workers started to show up in the AM I was nearly blocked in my spot. Also the trash/recycling is collected at a very early/disturbing time frame and if I’d been there on a pleasure stay I’d have been irritated. If I were in the area solo, I’d totally stay there again. Safety was no issue. My husband would insist on another location. The downtown looked absolutely adorable and I’d kinda wished I’d had some time to explore.Rooms: Very clean, sheets were comfortable, very basic but had everything I needed. (Could use some USB ports so bring your block and charging chord.) Temperature is dictated by the hotel. I love thé old iron heater grates. Plenty of towels and toiletries.

A hotel within a vintage building also offers a long-term stay (monthly basis) and hostel option (call for details, not available on the hotel's website). The hotel offers coupons for breakfast (guests have to pay the difference if the breakfast is more than $4.50) instead of standard breakfast (buffet/continental) options elsewhere. Phenomenal staff at the front desk provide great service around the clock (24 hours x 7 days).

The staff were all wonderful, very friendly. We arrived later at night and Andrew was especially helpful and welcoming. It was great to have coffee, tea and ice water available all day. The beds were very comfortable. The overall atmosphere was unaffected and charming with all the turn of the century peculiarities. We loved the hotel as well as everything the town had to offer: food, shops, people.... We would definitely come again and recommend this hotel to our friends and family.Nearby activities: We came specifically to go to the baking school and were happy the hotel was so close. We found a couple delightful shops nearby.Food & drinks: The restaurants we went to had fabulous food and it was so nice to just be able to walk to them, again people were very helpful and friendly.Noteworthy details: It was so refreshing to visit a community that so obviously cares for one another.

This is a very neat hotel with lots of character. It's in a historic building smack dab in downtown White River Junction.Let's get the bad out of the way. Whether these are bad or not really depends on your outlook:- The building is old, and the common area floors creak as you step.- The rooms are fairly small and simple. If you're used to modern motel amenities you might be disappointed.- You hear a bit more noise than modern buildings.- There's no breakfast included. Now onto the good (and great):- The staff is wonderful.- The building is historic and gorgeous. It has character and class.- The amenities are well-chosen and tasteful. It's little things like local soap in the bathroom, and nice bath towels, and comfortable sheets on the bed.- Our room was perfectly sized for an overnight stay. I have a bias against the large suites that are becoming more common nowadays.- Our bathroom was generously sized, not just an oversized closet.- You're situated in the center of downtown, steps from pretty much anything. There are great restaurants and neat little shops within a couple of minutes walk. The ceilings are super high, 8 feet in the rooms and higher in the lobby, which helps with noise and gives everything an open feel. While we could hear people outside our room by the sound of the floor creaks, we weren't bothered by the sounds of people in other rooms. The night we stayed there was a party in the function room of the hotel. It was a little loud but it didn't keep us up. I assume it ended by 11 pm but I was asleep an hour before that.Nearby activities: It's in the middle of downtown, steps from the train station and river. There are great restaurants up and down the street.Walkability: The hotel sits in the middle of a very compact downtown. Everything you would want is just a couple of minutes walk from the front door.

This place is long overdue for a total make over. I'm not usually very sensitive to air quality but as soon as I got in there. I felt like I was going to go into a sneezing fit. The room was kind of gross and weird, way bigger than it needed to be. There was lots of noise from the radiant radiant heater and outside in the hallways felt like nonstop traffic. I couldn't sleep. The staff was very friendly though.

Overall it is a good hotel in a great, fun location. Andrew checked us in and he was friendly and helpful. The room itself smelled a little odd, and the bed was uncomfortable as we could feel the springs through the mattress. The building itself definitely has some fun character but also is in need of some updates. The biggest struggle was when our fire/smoke alarm went off in our room at 5 AM! We found staff to help us, and they removed the alarm and told us we could go back to bed. But we were pretty shaken up by being woken up that way! But breakfast the next day was delicious. We went to the Tuckerbox and it was nice to have the voucher from the hotel.

Old building, but not exactly, in a falling apart kind of way. Just old and historical feeling. Like a "this place feels like people probably died in here but that's cool" kind of vibe. There were actually 2 rooms for each room number connected by the bathroom. So could be suitable for a small family with kids in the extra room. Old school heater in the rooms, but since it was hot, it wasn't needed. Air conditioner included and worked great, thank goodness given the heat wave that came through. There were also some extra restrooms in the hallways if needed. Overall, cool place to visit and learn about some history of the building and area.

I had the honor of staying at the iconic Hotel Coolidge and it had all the intricate beauty of an historic hotel. From the welcoming feel of the fire place and cozy chairs and art work. Judith the front desk management at hotel Coolidge is such an amazing human being that truly goes above and beyond for the customers. She assisted me with bags because I’m a disabled Army Veteran. She let me know the history of the hotel because I love history and architecture. She showed me where the elevator was so I didn’t struggle with the stairs. My room had everything I needed. It had a tv, fridge, heater, bathroom warm covers. The room was clean and great water pressure and hot water. What more could you ask for. I sleeped well and the hotel is located by everything. I truly enjoyed my time and I will be back. It was everything I needed. Thank you for everything Mo EduRooms: Rooms serve your basic needs and gives that historic feel. Love itSafety: Super safe and everyone is so niceWalkability: Everything is on that strip, food, antiques, flower shop and more.Food & drinks: Great food at Tucker box. Turkish place, Pizza shop and Nutrition right next door too the hotel and Ana’s ice cream and toy shop

I’m going to be honest, the owner needs to invest in some updating and deep cleaning. As soon as I walked into my room, I felt the urge to sneeze, which never left, despite the fact that I take nightly med for allergies, with additional allergy med taken. Every noise from neighboring rooms and hallways can be heard! The only reason I gave it a better review, is due to location! It’s ok for 1 night, but I could not do multiple nights here…and, I’m typically pretty easy to please.Food & drinks: A few good restaurants nearby!

I gave the " rooms" catagory a 3 star only because of the lack of updated outlets...little needs be done except cosmetics...it retains it " boutique" and vintage style. The staff is phenomenal...they bend over backwards...Thank you and see you soon.Rooms: Loved the wallpaper...pleade dont remove when you renovate.Nearby activities: If you are a skier...choose this place...Other hitrls closest to the most known ski areas are 3-4 times the price. If coming to visit Dartmouth college...awesome...stay at the Coolidge.Safety: Very safe...walkable...Walkability: Its very well centered with unique restaurants and bars nearby...a train stain,...and major highways just a few miles away...Food & drinks: Excellent unique restaurants,...higly recommend Thyme...go earlyNoteworthy details: There is lots of history to this hotel...go there to learn and see.

The room was a nice size and very clean; simple but adequately furnished with a feel of the era of the hotel. The staff was friendly, enthusiastic and responsive. This is an old, historic hotel and to quote a review I read before booking - "if you are looking for a standard chain hotel, the Coolidge is not for you." It has character, the result of over 100 years of sheltering travelers. Stay at the Coolidge with a mind open to the gentle aging of decades.Walkability: White River Junction is an old railroad town. The Northern Stage Theater is nearby as well as artsy shops. No breakfast at the hotel but they will give you a $4.50/person coupon usable at 2 excellent nearby restaurants. All this is within easy walking distance as is the river bridge.

If you're looking for the comforts of a chain hotel, this isn't it. If you're looking for a stay in a clean, well-kept historic building with character and friendly staff, look no further.Recently stayed for a few days and I have to say, I felt like I was in a Wes Anderson movie, or even in The Shining. This a compliment. The hotel has such character. It oozes history. You can only imagine the stories the walls hold. Even its live-in residents are interesting. We came back at midnight and heard the most impressive pianist playing a flurry of notes in a room off the lobby. This isn't a complaint; it was just so random and totally in character of the hotel.Would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel for a spooky October stay.

This is a charming, quirky place. If you're looking for Hampton Inn style, don't go. This is a historic hotel with interesting architecture, a beautiful wooden railing and a lot of history. Bring ear plugs and eye shades because the blinds don't keep out daylight and the train or occasional truck or motorcycle can be heard. Having a fridge was convenient, and the A/C SO welcome with high temperatures and dew points around 70! Coffee, tea and cold (probably tap) water are available to guests all day.My mattress was comfortable. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Tell them about any problems and they'll listen and take action. They give a breakfast voucher ($4.50 per guest each morning) which can be used in the adjacent breakfast place or a restaurant three doors down. There's also a connecting door to a gallery next door that had a wine tasting when I was there. Surrounded by interesting, quirky, artsy shops that you won't find many places - a store carrying clothing that uses recycled fabrics; a creator of lampshades that are hand-painted and unique, often using recycled materials as well; a gallery that carries local artists' works; a Turkish spice store with FRESH spices (be ready to be transported to the Orient by the fragrance when you enter). The theater is around the corner. White River Junction is a great little place to explore, and the Coolidge is right in the heart of it. I enjoyed it very much.Rooms: Comfortable mattress, AC, fridge. Chairs and decor a bit dated, but in keeping with the historic nature of the hotel.Blinds and sheers do not keep out daylight.Nearby activities: Theater, shopping for unusual itemsWalkability: Right in the heart of a small town.Food & drinks: Nice restaurants within a few stepsNoteworthy details: Historic hotel

A quaint, dated hotel with a lot of history. Staff goes out of their way to be super friendly.Downtown area is walkable, though we smelled quite a bit of drugs being consumed. The only real concern I had was that the hotel doubled as a hostel and the rooms were all on the same level as the hotel rooms, and the train came by blowing its horn at 430AM.Walkability: Walkable to restaurants.

Staff is amazing, very helpful. Central location of this quaint historic hotel is great, except on Sundays when WRJ is mostly closed. Downside for us is that the hotel is pet friendly, so being allergic we had to take a pet-free room, which was a bit “cozier” than other rooms we saw.Walkability: Right in the heart of WRJ, across the street from the train station (where the Amtrak Vermonter stops) oh no on the way what I said. No wrong way I’m supposed to go that way.
