I can’t say enough about this shop and the team who operates it, especially John. I have now purchased skis for both myself and my son, along with boots and some other equipment, and the experience could not have been better. This is a team who really cares about getting you on the right gear and offers very competitive pricing. They applied the cost of my demo to the price of my new skis and I’m honestly thrilled with all of it; my son also loves his new boards. In both cases I had ideas about other models based on my own research, but John’s advice proved to be right on the money. You have to look a little harder to find First Trax set back from the road near the movie theater across from Sticky Fingers bakery, but do yourself a favor and turn in there. Just an awesome business where customer satisfaction and a passion for helping skiers and riders have fun is clearly the mindset. Thanks folks, we’ll be back!!!

My wife and I came here with no expectations but left with two awesome ski boots! We went to a few places and the bootfitting experience was nowhere near our experience with John. He was very knowledgable and used his expertise to recommend and have us try different boots on. John was also very kind, understanding and patient with us!

I had a great experience purchasing a new pair of boots at the end of this season. While you would imagine inventory would be low in April, there was enough to try on and consider in my size. John was extremely patient and knowledgeable and helped me choose the best boot for me (the sale was also very attractive and made my new Atomic boots very affordable), which proved just right when I skied with them once on my last ski day of the ‘23 season. We have used First Trax over the years and continue to be happy with the selection, customer service and expertise.

Incredibly thankful to John(the owner) at First Trax who humbly and affordably fixed a debilitating issue with my Atomic ski boots after 2 other “master boot fitters” were unsuccessful. Also very smooth rental process for my daughters ski. Strongly recommend!

Cute ski shop with just about anything you need for winter activities and skiing. I went in looking for a base layer pants for skiing. The young lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.

Great place to rent. Their rental equipment was in really good shape and the staff could not have been nicer. Our party of 3 rolled in about 10 minutes before closing. They had us sized up and checked out in no time at all without feeling rushed. Unfortunately one of our party had an issue with their skis on the first day, but we went back and they got it fixed up right away. They even gave us a one day credit for the trouble, which was more than generous. Will definitely return!

First Trax is a top notch ski shop! They were one of the only places in Southern Vermont to carry the skis and bindings i was looking for. I spoke with John the owner and because I'm out of state, I made the purchase over the phone. John was great! He had my skis waiting and ready to go at 8:00 am sharp as promised!!

Great experience. Pulled a major dad move and forgot my daughter’s jacket and pants at home. Hit First Trax just after 8, was out in 10 minutes, young woman got my daughter kitted up in Spyder just in time to make first chair. She is warm, comfortable, and lookin good. Highly recommend.

One of the best experiences I’ve had at a local ski shop. The owner is super helpful and accommodating and really took his time helping my friends and I with ski rentals. The selection of skis is up to date and the prices are super affordable. Don’t waste your money renting on the mountain, rent from First Trax instead.

Ruined 2 years of skiing for me because I was wrongly fitted for boots. I wasted over $300 on boots that had me nearly in tears from the pain. Bought a pair of K2 skis and atomic ski boots here in December 2019. I was assured over and over again that the boot would “break in.” Do not recommend, especially for boot sizing.

Great shop. I dealt with them several times on my last trip to Mt Snow. Rented skis for my wife and kids, probably close to same price as mountain but way better quality and experience. Rented 2 days but were unsure about the 3rd day even at the end of the 2nd day. Called and they gave us an option to return them first thing in the morning. It was the great flexibility we needed with our little kids. Excellent service. I also went in on a separate trip to buy a new helmet for my daughter, was having trouble with the expense of the helmet that fit better since we dont get to ski enough to justify the cost over the cheaper model. They worked with me to make the right choice, even on a holiday weekend. They earned my business and should get yours.

THE go to place for junior race ski equipment rental in southern NH and VT. Here you can rent brand new race skis and boots for an entire season at a fraction of the purchasing costs. Considering how fast the kids grow, renting here is way easier and more economic than dealing with buying/selling/trading in on your own. Family owned and operated business too.

Always the rudest in the valley. Spend your time elsewhere if you can. I’ve TRIED to shop here for almost a decade. Bought my whole family skis - prob 10 diff sets by now including four of my own and my bogner gear elsewhere just because of how rude they are. Went in today to ask abt a wrist guard and was rudely told “we don’t do snowboards here so no”..... too bad I needed another set of skis and boots for my 12 year old 🤷‍♀️

Rude people working here. Don’t go here!! While my friend was trying to help my other friend with her ski boots, the guy who worked there said to get away because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about then continued to get angry and grabbed my friends foot because he was angry. He also got in my friends face (during covid times) and was extremely unprofessional telling him to leave and that he won’t sell anything to us. My friend asked the lady who also worked there to help us instead and she literally refused to help. Mind you, my friends and I came in with 7 people. Yes, that’s a big crowd but we are extremely respectful and if you can’t handle big groups of service, you shouldn’t be working in a ski shop where many families and friends go vacationing at.

Got injured because of themMy wife bought skis with bindings from them. A while later she had a strange fall, on a very easy terrain, but one of the bindings failed to release, and she injured her knee. This year the went to a better shop to buy new boots, and when they took her skis to adjust to the new boots they found that one of the old Trax bindings was so tightly set that it would not release. And it could not be adjusted. Trax sold her defective stuff, which led to an injury. Wouldn't go near that place.
