We have been coming here for our Anniversary for the past few years and have always loved it .. This time was a huge disappointment. Called a week ahead for a reservation which they didn’t have but did honor which we appreciate. The Charcuterie board was sparse and jam tasted like smuckers. Menu was very small and choices weren’t great . My husband had the pasta dish which was the worst I’ve ever tasted . It cost $36 and probably cost the restaurant a $1 to make . My halibut was the only good thing about the meal .. but I thought it was still incredibly small proportion for price. Waitress was okay. For An upscale restaurant in Vermont too pretentious and nothing to back it up.

Had an amazing stay at the Pitcher Inn over MLK weekend. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable prior to and during our stay. Fresh croissants every morning were top notch. We didn’t get a chance to eat in their more casual pub restaurant “Tracks” and that is our only regret! Hope to make it back one day.

When we made a reservation, the lady asked the upstairs formal dining or casual place downstairs. We said upstairs formal dining for our Jan 1 family dinner event. The management representative at the front desk did not seem sorry that formal dining was closed on the date and we drove 50min to get there. Also the coffee tasted sour and old.

After many years of wanting to visit, my first experience with Pitcher Inn was disappointing. My partner and I stayed in Warren at another inn but tried to visit the Pitcher for drinks and a snack. The reception staff wouldn't seat us and were quite abrupt and rude about it. I've never been turned away from an establishment by a haughty suited receptionist holding a snow shovel but I guess this is Vermont. Weird place.

We didn't have the opportunity to stay at the hotel, but we had a fantastic experience dining at the restaurant. The food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. If you're looking for a special dining experience in this area, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Beautiful Inn located in Warren. We usually visit once or twice a year, usually during ski season. Always for dinner, never used the lodging. This year we came during Autumn for fall foliage. The restaurant was closed so we ate in Tracks, the lounge.Tracks is accessed by a simple door off the lobby of the Inn. Down a staircase and through a cave like stone passage. Very unique. The bar and lounge open to a garden area. We sat in the leather sofa by the fireplace. Very cozy and charming. We enjoyed cocktails and dinner in the sofa seating. Started with Caesar Salad, the Corn Chowder Soup, followed by a Roll. All the plates were good, but the Chowder was the highlight.Highly recommend. This is one of the few higher style and intimate experiences in the area.Unfortunately they closed the pool table and game area. A disappointment as we used to end our night having drinks and playing shuffle board.

Attentive staff and great food. Tracy spoke to me on the phone before hand and followed up with me to make the reservation. Our main courses were delicious, one of black bass, and the other of scallop risotto. We chose to sit inside due to rain but they had beautiful porch seating overlooking the brook. The staff, food, and atmosphere all made for a wonderful anniversary dinner.

Absolutely beautiful little inn tucked into the mountains in Warren, VT. Lies right along a creek with aqua blues hues against the rocks beneath. Right across the street a perfect place to grab food or drinks before heading out on daily adventures. The Pitcher inn has a private back porch and a garden with grapevines hanging. A great spot to take some downtime.

Fantastic service and food tonight at Tracks celebrating my 60th. Service was outstanding and special! Too bad a manager decided to comment that it was not appropriate for our four year old to lie quietly on the floor next to our table. Offensive with a party of 7 adults enjoying the amazing surroundings and ambiance in the off season.

What a fantastic dinner with family at this cozy restaurant. We had a party of 10 including 2 kids, and we all loved our meals sitting in the casual Tracks portion of the restaurant right in front of their beautiful fireplace. The food was fresh, well prepared, and artfully presented; I’ll definitely be back!

Extremely high-quality hotel (also pretty expensive). Search online, and you will find articles written about it. Each room has a unique theme. The whole place has a really nice antique, rustic, authentic Vermont vibe. However, the best part of the Pitcher Inn is Tracks, the casual dining restaurant downstairs. With low ceilings, a big fireplace and everything made of stone or wood, it has a very comfortable and relaxed (but well-appointed) atmosphere. Seating is limited with several unique setups, such as the couches with coffee table in front of the fireplace and the wine vault. Reservations are required and fill early.

The Pitcher Inn is beautiful. The dining room is elegant with wonderful artwork and working fireplace. Dinner was very good but portions were very small for the price. The menu is limited with 4 first course options and 5 entrees. We determined the same menu is offered in Tracks, the lovely tavern downstairs, although there was confusion about this. Our server told us the menu in the tavern was different, which one would expect. The endive salad had 6-7 leaves for $15. Entrees ranged from $34 for beetroot risotto to $46 for beef tenderloin.Service was slow. It was 10 minutes before we saw our server after being seated. She did tell us they were down one server. There was confusion about our reservation. A message was left confirming a few days before requesting a call back. I left a message saying we were looking forward to dinner. I received a call saying our reservation had been cancelled. When I asked why, I was told she had a lot of messages and was mixed up. When we arrived they said we had no reservation and she could see we cancelled. After further review we were told someone had already been seated for our reservation. Funny thing is we were the only table of 2.For the price you expect more attention to detail.

Me & my wife we visit Pitcher Inn for the first time, we had such a fantastic time here. Check in process was so easy, Mary Lou took the time to explain everything that is happening on property, also she escort us to the room. After a long drive that day, we decided to have dinner at the Inn. Dinner was SPECTACULAR!!! I had the Short Rib serve with grits, poached egg, au jus and pickled onion, my wife had Lobster Pasta - service was great - Betsy was so profesional and super friendly! We also had breakfast the next day - Chef prepared two delicious Omelettes, also our server Heather was outstanding!Every staff member that we met at the Pitcher Inn was so friendly and always with a smile on! Thank you Pitcher Inn for a great stay, we will definitely come back!

Recently stayed for a weekend with my wife. The experience was tremendous, especially in light of the pandemic restrictions. Darci was very helpful and friendly throughout the whole process and was a pleasure to interact with. Betsy in the dining room was also outstanding, and our room was beautiful. ( The Lodge) The restaurant was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. Highly recommend for a special getaway during ski season or otherwise.

2023: the addition of heat lamps on the porch made very comfortable to done outside in late September.2021: Another excellent meal. This time we ate on the porch, as we prefer to eat outside due to Covid. The porch has a handful of tables with terrific views. It was lovely. The duck breast and octopus appetizer were particularly outstanding. Butter poached lobster was also nice. Great service and a fine meal.2019: Outstanding food experience. Scalop appetizer was particularly good. Elk chop was flavorful. Presentation and side dishes were excellent. We will be back again!2018:Food was good but not outstanding. Friendly and superb service.2017: Outstanding food, great service, beautiful location.

This was one of the most remarkable weekend getaways I have ever experienced and worth every penny! From the wonderful communication pre-arrival, assistance with booking dinner reservations both nights, to the greeting upon arrival and showing us to our room and all of the special touches, to the wonderful breakfast (those croissants...my goodness), to the amazing service, wonderful food, and ambiance at Tracks, to the room itself, I truly could not have more remarkable things to say about The Pitcher Inn. Having worked many years in hospitality, I think customer service does more than any meal or room could ever do, and it is clear that it is valued at the Pitcher Inn. A tremendous thank you to Darci and Laura for the most impeccable customer service and hospitality from check in to check out. And the young female server at breakfast who also (I think) managed housekeeping and gave us the warmest goodbye. Also to the staff at Tracks -- I am unfortunately blanking on names but the stunning tall female server and young male server were tremendous! Thank you for ensuring we had wine glasses and an opener for our room. And a special thank you to Laura for the sweet gift upon our departure -- you are the absolute best and The Pitcher Inn is so lucky to have you!I could go on, but I'll leave it at this. If you have the chance to stay or dine at The Pitcher Inn, you absolutely will not regret it. We already cannot wait to return!

I don't normally like to leave bad reviews because I know how important reviews are for businesses large and small. However, I made the mistake of ignoring a few bad reviews and decided to spend my pandemic honeymoon at the Pitcher Inn.The front of house staff was completely and utterly incompetent from the moment we arrived. We spent over $4000 at this hotel for a mini honeymoon and the below will be our memory of our honeymoon forever. From the staff not being able to provide directions, to not knowing what services they even could provide, to saying we would have to just get by on their great personalities (they weren't great) to promising us one thing and then needing to be reminded several times to deliver on that promise (something as small as champagne glasses in our room or please unbox the flowers that arrive today and put them in a vase for us upon our return (instead it was left in the box and put with our suitcases)). Further, on a honeymoon often hotels do something for their honeymooners and we didn't expect anything, but we were treated so poorly and repeatedly faced roadblocks when we needed support from the staff. Frankly, this was unacceptable.None of the rooms had working fireplaces as was advertised (and one of the main reasons we chose the hotel), there were no services that you would expect in a fine hotel. Even during a pandemic, there could have been more effort done to make the immense and extravagant price tag of this hotel somewhat more worth it. The only thing that was worth the money here was the private dinner in the wine cellar, though, even that was a bit uninspired and lacked exciting twists or novel combinations, but I highly doubt that was the chef's fault or the server's fault, both of whom were fantastic.I will not be returning and I will recommend that no one go to this place until there is a complete changeover in management from top to bottom. I hope this is helpful for others of you out there wondering if this once charming hotel is worth the price tag.

The food was absolutely incredible and I'll never be the same after eating the mashed potatoes and I'm not even a fan. Also had the cheesecake and I almost started crying it was so good. Really just can't go wrong. Also went home with the best homemade grape jelly that changed my toast forever (never buying store bought again). Head chef is next level. Did not stay in the rooms, but loved the cozy atmosphere in the dining area and downstairs. Even outdoor fire pit felt special.

We've just returned from our wonderful dinner at Tracks, which offers a prix fixe small-plate style dinner on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The food was delicious, the ambiance exquisite, and the service delightful and attentive. We run the Featherbed Inn nearby in Waitsfield, and we are so pleased that we can wholeheartedly recommend Tracks to our guests and to anyone visiting or living in the Mad River Valley.

Good food although certain parts of certain dishes tasted stale (radishes with crab, strawberry shortcake). Had a small issue paying at first (card was initially blocked and needed to be unlocked) - front of house staff were extremely friendly and understanding while the issue was resolved, however the management representative at the front desk was very unpleasant, which left a bad taste overall

One of the best restaurants in Vermont which is saying something because Vermont has a lot of excellent restaurants. We've been here several times, it's always terrific. It's a 3 1/2 hour drive for us from MA but we think it's worth the drive.2021: We just made our first post pandemic visit today. The food is still excellent. We ate on the veranda which is an terrific spot, it has a roof so it's protected from the rain but it's still outdoors. The veranda overlooks the garden and you can see the river.

There were four of us for dinner on Friday of the long Columbus Day weekend and we all chose the same dish, halibut - no one can cook this at home I guess ;-). It was absolutely divine. Everyone enjoyed it and we marveled at how the chef managed to prepare and present it so well. Our appetizers of soups and salads were also fabulous. Our only negative comment is, as others have stated, it's pretty tough to find a reasonably priced bottle of wine on their wine list. We ended up just buying glasses of wine. I hope they plan to add more affordable wines.

Huge disappointment at Tracks. Guests in town wanted to take us to dinner. Tracks had been advertising to come try out their new lounge menu so we thought it would be a nice option. Imagine our surprise when we saw the menu had five options from their upstairs dinner menu, ranging in price from $28 - $45.00. No lounge menu available. So our guests paid $300 to take us to dinner. Why advertise something that’s not available. Total bait and switch. Reached out to new owners before writing a public review. No response.

We had dinner at The Pitcher Inn (downstairs, The Tracks) and it was great little dining area with great food. Very warm atmosphere and wonderful service. We had the steak, kale salad, and risotto cake. All were very good. Would definitely come back!

Very disappointing. We stayed at the hotel in July 2021 for three nights as an extended family having a total of 3 rooms. While the property and rooms were lovely what made the experience so disappointing was the staff. At every turn we felt as guests we were inconveniencing them by asking a question. This began when booking and trying to determine food reservations and we thought it was just who we dealt with on the phone but the experience continued with almost all the staff once we arrived. I have never felt more uncomfortable or unwelcomed at a property. I would sadly not waste my money again to stay here and if you are looking for service it is not to be found here.
