I just spent a wonderful 4 days at the Strong House Inn for a quilt retreat. The inn has a quilt room equipped with everything a happy quilter would want to enjoy sewing with friends. The rooms were large and comfortable and breakfasts were amazing. There is a small downtown area nearby with some delicious food options and cute shops. Amy and DJ were so accommodating to our every need. I'd highly recommend the Strong House Inn

This is the third time we have stayed here, visiting our son at Middlebury College. Strong House is a charming inn in the very picturesque town of Vergennes. Amy and Dj are wonderful hosts and Amy’s special breakfasts are a delight. We love their dog, Bjorn, a gentle giant.Rooms are varied and some have very small showers, while others have good sized bathrooms. It's 20-25 mins drive from Middlebury college so not super close, but the drive through inner roads is very picturesque as well.We are very likely to visit again on future visits.

Amy and DJ are fantastic hosts. The breakfasts were ample and delicious, with accommodations for special dietary needs. The rooms each have their own style and our bed was quite comfortable. The Inn was perfect for our stay; nicely located in the cute town of Vergennes and surrounding beautiful mountain ranges. The sunsets are gorgeous!

I attended a quilt retreat at The Strong House Inn and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The inn is a beautiful well-kept historic home overseen by attentive owners Amy and DJ. Breakfasts were hot and delicious and served with a smile and light conversation. The meeting room where the quilt retreat took place was well lit and set up for quilters' needs. The inn offers many different types of quilt retreats from no frills to teacher led. Something for everyone. The town of Vergennes and the surrounding area has a nice variety of restaurants and shops to wander through and the natural scenery is awe inspiring. I would highly recommend a stay at The Strong House Inn. You will thoroughly enjoy the experience.

I've stayed here two years in a row for an annual sewing retreat and I'm looking forward to more in the future! The atmosphere is wonderful, and the rooms are very comfortable with personality. It's more delightful than staying in a hotel, where every room has the same art and similar layouts. The food is excellent, and they respect dietary concerns.

We just spent a three day weekend at the Strong House Inn while visiting our grandson at Middlebury College. I cannot praise the Strong House Inn and its wonderful Innkeepers, Amy and DJ, highly enough. We stayed in the Vermont Room. It was bright and gracious, the bed was terrific, the propane stove kept us very comfortable, and the bathroom/shower were great. Amy's hot breakfasts were outstanding, and she and DJ made us feel most welcome. The Inn's common rooms were very comfortable, and the Inn dog, Bjorn, is a gentle giant, a huge sweetie for dog lovers. The Inn is a nice walk or two minute drive from the center of Vergennes, a charming town, and a 15 to 20 minute drive from Middlebury. There are many excellent and varied restaurants within a 2 to 20 minute drive from the Inn. We recommend the Strong House Inn with the greatest enthusism, and we look forward to staying there again.

Stayed at The Strong House Inn recently (Jan 2024). My wife and I have been here many times in years past when the inn was Unser the previous owners. The new owners , Amy and DJ were most welcoming as was their canine resident, Bjorn. The room was clean and very comfortable and the television was a smart TV which enables you to do your own personal streaming from your accounts with Netflix, Amazon, Hulu , etc. The heating was more than adequate in that there was a thermostatically controlled propane gas stove with a nice fire log flame vented to the outside as well as a heater/AC inverter unit controlled by a remote that was easy to use. So you had two heat sources. The bedding was very comfortable and the pillows/blanket/comforter also warm and soft. The private bath had been recently updated by the new owners. The only disappointment regarding this upgrade was that the toilet appeared not to have been replaced and the seat needed replacing as there were a few large chips on it. I may be mistaken on this but if in fact I am, then the seat badly needs replacement. The new bathroom is so nice with its beautiful large stall shower that this chipped seat really stands out.The breakfasts all 3 days were outstanding! Amy is the creative cook I believe, and she delights with tasty treats such as homemade scones, Dutch pancakes(look it up if not familiar), Caprisi eggs, Apple pancakes with almonds and Vermont maple syrup and herb omelette with Boursin cheese. The Costco coffee which is served in an insulated carafe left at your table along with real cream and sugar is hot and very delicious. On the morning we had an overnight snowfall, DJ, the male co-host was so very kind and brushed the snow off of our car and blew itaway from around the car. I can’t tell you how impressed we were with this kindness and how much we appreciated it. There is also a Keurig coffee maker downstairs in the kitchen that you can avail yourself of at any time with a good selection of coffees and teas. The only constructive criticism I can add is that the room should be cleaned every day. Ours was only done after the first night. The trash needed to be emptied and bed made and bathroom cleaned and paper products checked and replaced if necessary. This is a minor issue but one that should be addressed daily. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property and were very pleased with our hosts and will definitely return and highly recommend that you consider The Strong House Inn for a nice New England getaway.

Our board and executive team's stay at the Strong House Inn was just what we were looking for. "Quaint Vermont" feel with amazing hospitality. The conference room was bright and clean and cheerful for our meeting, and the rooms and meals were just right. I would say, if you're travelling for business, these rooms are not like a 5-star hotel. They're more comfortable than that. Which we appreciated. One other important comment is how fantastic Amy was to work with leading up to our stay. We kept having attendee changes, spouses joining, spouses changing their mind, etc., and Amy kept adjusting with us. Wonderful to work with!

This was a truly delightful inn. The owners are friendly and welcoming. We arrived and had to call the owner away from dinner at a nearby restaurant, but she was completely accommodating. We rented a cottage and two adjoining rooms. The water pressure was an issue in the cottage, and we missed the usual tissues and toiletries, but the breakfast was served hot and delicious. The location is convenient to the small town and has plenty of parking. The rates are reasonable and good value.

We enjoyed our stay and loved the Vermont room. It was the perfect room for us, we could enter from the front of the inn or from the French doors to the small deck and down to the court yard. The room was good size, great bed and very nice bathroom.Breakfast was excellent each morning and care was shown in presentation and service.Location worked well as you could walk to the center of the town in 15 minutes or drive in 2 minutes. Both Burlington and Middlebury were short drives. Many great mountain and lakes views are very close to the inn.Rooms: The Vermont Room is great, will try to stay in that room again when we go back

I think this Inn could be really nice - but it feels like the whole thing is a work in progress. There are multiple "projects" going on all over the property and they are all very much in process with tools, equipment, debris just left out. We love that they're working on the place but the feeling when you drive up is just kind of icky, especially given the billing as fine lodging. The room was nice but the mattress sorely needed replacing. And there were zero amenities - no bottles of water, no extra towels - again, nice and clean just didn't live up to the description.

We loved our stay at the Strong House Inn. Amy and DJ were super hospitable and their adorable Berna-doodle puppy was just the sweetest boy! We had grand plans to come down for breakfast and to hit a few errands on our way out of town, but we ended up sleeping in late because the room and bed were so comfortable. Best sleep outside of my home I've had for a very long time!
