I bought a new old stock pellet stove. It was on sale and exactly what I was looking for. When price and need meet you jump and purchase, I am glad I did. The people here were awesome, the whole transaction happened so fast I didn't get to talk to anyone in particular, but when service is that fast who needs talking. Great place to get what you need.

Manager Chad Herschel and his staff are top notch. I would like to mention Joe in paint is excellent. Mike Sumner , Jim Ringer,and Ben Kandizor know the store and the products like the back of your hand Ron Bolay at checkout is always nice to deal with.

I love to support a family-owned, New England-based chain. Friendly service and a great community atmosphere. They are always ready and able to offer assistance, unlike big box stores where you literally have to chase someone down! I am also really impressed with their website capability: you can check local store stock on items (just like the big guys) and can order online for local pickup/delivery to store (also just like the big guys). All around great service, both in person and online.

I love having a local hometown hardware store with a complete collection of tools and supplies for repairs and maintenance. I don't have to sweat getting the stuff for emergency repairs. And, I don't have to go to the expense of trying to keep stuff on hand. Very convenient.

The wonderful employees make this store special. Sure, the store doesn't have everything, but with one or two very esoteric exceptions, it's always had everything I need.During the recent long-duration winter weather event, I had the opportunity to be helped be several amazing gentlemen at this store. Two in particular stand out, Steve, and later Joe, are living examples of how to do customer service correctly.My initial trip was to get birdseed, specifically black oil sunflower seed, to keep the birds fed through the storm. Steve helped me find a proper cart to lug 80 pounds of seed around the store as I was shopping. I then started looking for supplies to create a divider in a "small animal pet door" within a larger pet gate that my lab had learned how to get through. I had used wood, but he had chewed through that twice, so I needed something sturdier. I found a perfect length of pipe, and headed to get something to run through the pipe to hold it in position. Baling twine was NOT an option, and I was thinking lightweight chain. I had chosen what I thought I needed, and Steve came to cut it. When I explained my project, he demonstrated the strength of the chain I had chosen, and clearly it would not have survived the determination of my dog. He suggested the perfect item, cut me a sufficient length to stymie the dog at both of the gates in question, and helped me choose the correct bolts and cap nuts. Steve was helpful to an extent that I have not experienced at the Vergennes Aubuchon in a long, long time.After getting everything home, cutting the pipe to the lengths required, and starting to put everything together, it became clear that my vision for wrapping the chain was overkill and that I needed significantly shorter bolts. I called the store to ask if I could exchange them for shorter ones and spoke with Joe. Not only did Joe assure me that I could exchange them at any time he also cautioned me that the road conditions appeared to be deteriorating and that, if I planned to make the trip, I should be very cautious. Joe also assured me that I could bring the chain I had purchased and subcut it into the lengths I needed with the cutter at the store. When I got back, Steve stepped up to help me cut the chain and to get the new bolts. Joe did the exchange for me with a speed that was impressive and he and Steve sent me on my way with admonitions to be careful on the roads.Both Joe and Steve are credits to the Vergennes Aubuchon Hardware. They treat customers with kindness and consideration. They are personable, helpful, engaging, and they make shopping fun. Their attributes which make them such good ambassadors for the Aubuchon brand are things which cannot be taught, but which must be carefully cultivated and rewarded.

Will not shop at the Vergennes store again. I am not a big fan of dogs and I do not like them jumping on me. On Friday I was checking out when these dogs ran up to me and jumped on me. I told the clerk that I did not want the dogs jumping on me again and when they returned to jump on me again the clerk did nothing but give me a pained look. I told him I would not shop here again and once again he said and did nothing.I don't mind dogs that behave or are on a leash as they should be in public.I live very close to this shop and I have been a customer for years. I have spent a lot of money here but will not spend anymore.I guess the dogs were more important than the customer in this instance.I hope they are worth the amount of money that I have spent here.

Great experience. The Vergennes Aubuchon provides the type of customer service that you always wish you could receive. Not only did Adam help bring it to the Shelburne location so as to save me the trip, but Chad also provided a partial refund when I discovered some faulty manufacturing on my item. Will definitely be supporting this business as much as possible!

I visit my local vergennes vermont abuchons frecantly. They have been there all my life. I don't like goin to the big box store. They are never accommodating. Everyone is friendly and outgoing. I really don't go anywhere else. We are do your self people and my local hardware store has just about everything we need. I happy to go there

The closest place I've found to Ferrisburgh for fishin tackle. Not a huge selection but it saves a long trip down the road. Big, clean, well-lit hardware store.
