Dr. Meehan gently examined my senior cat and spoke to her with a sweet tone of voice. Dr. Meehan showed me how to clean my cat’s teeth and explained the importance. The vet assistant and office manager were very friendly and accommodating.

We recently had a medical crisis with our 12 yr old chocolate lab, Judah. Dr Dena Mehan responded quickly and through a series of tests determined the cause. We had to transfer our sweet boy to SAVES for week-end care and they smoothly took over and within a short period he recovered quickly and is at home doing extremely well. Love that guy! He has been in the care of Springfield Animal Hospital since he was only 6 weeks old. Want to keep him as long as possible. Thanks for your willingness to see and treat him when we know how busy you are and for providing such good care!

Baxter gets the best care and attention when we are there. Deena is very knowledgable about dogs and answers questions quickly and with ease.

They have been so good with my cat Tiberius. Needed some teeth extracted. This went well now he is more playful and a wee bit more assertive. My cuddle. I thank them all for his care.

Well, this is bizarre. Over a year ago (approx. October, 2020), I wrote a negative review about Springfield Animal Hospital regarding our beloved cat, Ella. At the time, SAH responded and I followed up describing what I believed were errors in their response. End of Story. Today, out of the blue, I received notification from Google that SAH responded to my review. Again? Confused, I researched it and found a response from SAH posted this morning to my old review. Today’s response refers to a doctor being out and only one doctor on duty the day in question. I was never told about a doctor being out when I was trying to schedule an appointment for Ella that day nor was I ever told that “. . . it was in your(my) pet’s best interest not to wait” I also definitely don’t recall Dr. Temple telling me I was “. . . free to write that you don’t like the doctor.” He was far more condescending, arrogant and surly than that. I am completely befuddled why Springfield Animal Hospital would want to bring this all up again, over a year later but I am now compelled to respond. Again, to reiterate what I said in the original review “I can accept practices and policies changing, what I can NOT accept is how a care giver for my beloved pets could treat them and me with such arrogance and utter lack of compassion and empathy.” Google space limitations wont allow me to post the original responses. My family has happily been a continuous client in good standing at Springfield Animal Hospital for over 35 years (see my 5-star google review 6 years ago). But ownership has changed and we received a very harsh lesson about the “new” SAH. Over 18 years ago, our cat Ella was brought into SAH as a tiny, abandoned kitten found on the side of the road with severe eye injuries. Dr. Tony (previous owner of SAH) put her back together again, gave her to us as a foster during her healing process and we’ve had her ever since. For her entire life, all her medical care has been at SAH. We’ve never brought her anywhere else. Recently, Ella became very ill. I called SAH early the next morning, Monday explaining Ella was in trouble and needed medical help. After checking with the veterinarian, the receptionist advised me they were busy and Ella could not be seen at all for the entire week! I was stunned! Later that day, I was finally able to get Ella into another facility. They were exceptionally kind but Ella was too frail to tolerate the medical treatment and they euthanized her (with her family by her side) 2 days later. Eventually, I was advised by others in the veterinary field to follow up with SAH because surely there was a miscommunication in the office and the veterinarian should be made aware so he can correct it. When I spoke with Dr Temple, I was staggered by his surly, belligerent, condescending attitude when acknowledging he was the veterinarian who decided Ella would not be seen because they were too busy that week. I can accept practices and policies changing, what I can NOT accept is how a care giver for my beloved pets could treat them and me with such arrogance and utter lack of compassion and empathy. He even threatened to sue me if I wrote a negative review. If this is how he treats me, I certainly don’t trust him with my family pets. After all these decades at SAH, I will now be finding another animal hospital for our veterinary needs.

Because our kitties are fuzzy little people in our eyes, I am very particular on what kind of care they receive. Dena and her staff understand this making it obvious they feel the same about all animals. Dr. Dena is passionate about the heath of her patients as well as ensuring their needs are met at home. Payment is expected and fair for any truly caring animal parent, and Dena looks at all avenues of care to find the most affordable option. Our kitties have been seeing Dena and her staff for over 13 years with no plans of changing.

A few days ago, I had an emergency situation with my Bernese. I’m still overwhelmed at the level of skill, care & comfort my boy received from the entire staff. He was transferred to SAVES in Lebanon, & even the Dr. there had praise for Dr. Meehan. I’ve had earlier experience with Dr. Temple, & he too, was extremely skilled & compassionate. My boy has a way to go, but he’s got a great chance, all because of wonderful people that wanted to make him better.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Springfield Animal Hospital. The staff are friendly, communicative, nonjudgmental, and very thorough. I know they’ve been extremely busy since the pandemic started, but Dr. Temple has always taken the time to answer any questions I’ve had, or talk through different approaches to caring for my dog. I always feel like I’m getting trustworthy answers and care, and I would recommend Springfield Animal Hospital to anyone looking for vet care.

My S/O and I have been bringing our pets to SAH for 19 years and we LOVE them!! I am so glad Dr. Dena and Dr. Brad have purchased the practice. One of the changes they made immediately was allowing more time for appointments instead of squeezing in as many pets as possible. They have always been compassionate, and I cannot be completely certain due to my own tears, but I would swear I saw tears in Dr. Brad’s eyes when he put my Lily to sleep.I love to watch/listen while the Drs. think out loud and ask questions about my pets’ histories to figure out what’s going on in our newly adopted pets: why was she on an antibiotic? What about “xyz”? And “I’m surprised she doesn’t have diarrhea.” She does! Not saying that’s a good thing, but it is a good thing that the Doc asked about her stools before I had a chance to say.At one point my Lily had a seizure, stopped, and then had another. David called SAH said he was coming, wrapped Lily in a blanket, they met him at the door and saved her life.I believe that they are honest, caring, and compassionate and often share what they would do if it were their own pet. They are not afraid to say “the cancer is too close to her jugular. Go to the surgeon in Williston.”Most recently the dog we adopted from Texas tested positive for heartworm last week. It NEVER would have occurred to me to recheck for heartworm 6 months after an initial negative result, and 6 months of monthly prevention. Springfield Animal Hospital knew. They did their jobs, and sent the notice to me.Because of their professionalism, attention to detail, intelligence and genuine caring, Springfield Animal Hospital saved the lives of my pets twice.I trust them completely and highly recommend them.

Our 2 year old Golden just got a porcupine quill stuck in her tongue while in VT and wouldn’t let us get at it. I called Springfield Animal Hospital. This was our first time there and they were able to see her, sedate her and remove the quill as soon as we arrived. Their professional and caring response was efficient, effective and affordable. Very impressed.

My experience is not what people generally think of as "great" or 5 star- worthy. But it is one that we all must face one day if we are lovers of our dogs & cats. I have taken my pet here for approx. 12 years. Always happy with the care from all of the staff. On Monday I had to make the call to take my beloved 14 yr. old lab in to be euthanized. Let it suffice to say that Dr. Laurie Livingston is one of the most compassionate people I've met, along with being warm, engaging with a very kind, calming presence. She & the staff allowed me to leave my sick old girl in my car, so she didn't have to go through more discomfort of being taken out of my car & carried into an exam room. Dr. Livingston came out to the car. What a blessing, in amongst all of the heartbreak & horrible sadness when it's time to say goodbye, to have someone like her at the helm. That is one of the most important "jobs" a vet. does... Can't be easy to do it, let alone with such grace, compassion & true kindness.

I Would Like To Acknowledge And Thank Dena Meehan And The Staff At The Springfield Animal Hospital For Scheduling In My Furbaby Molly This Morning As She Became Very Sick And Needed Medical Attention. The Past Two Weeks Have Been Difficult As My 17 Year Old Amadeaus Crossed The Rainbow Bridge And Now My 11 Year Old Molly Very Sick With Various Health Issues. Dena And The Staff Were Very Attentive To Finding Out What Was Wrong With Molly And Treated Her With Medication That Helped Her To Get Better Within A Couple Of Days.

I have been coming to the Springfield Animal Hospital for 10 years now and I simply don't trust anyone else with my pets! I don't feel that other Animal Hospitals closer to me are as thorough and passionate about what they do, that is why I travel farther to come here. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable; I love going in and seeing the familiar faces and giving updates on my cats and dog. They really care about their clients both people and animals!

In the past 6 months or so I have unfortunately had quite a few pet-related emergencies and the Springfield Animal Hospital has been AWESOME! We were dealing with a death in the family and also lost 2 dearly loved pets, and although losing loved ones is never easy, Dr. Temple was incredible and made everything go as smoothly and stress-free as possible. We bring all of our pets to Dr. Temple now and will never go to anyone else. I do not know the other doctors at the Springfield Animal Hospital myself, but I have heard great things about all of them. Thank you for all you do, Springfield Animal Hospital, you're the best!

The staff at S.A.H. are wonderful! They all are professional, helpful and all of them are very knowledgeable. My husband and I have trusted them with our 'pups' for way over a decade and both of our goldens love everyone there. A special call out to Dr. Brad Temple. Between his knowledge, caring and skills you can't find a better Vet. Of course, the rest of the docs at S.A.H. are equally wonderful as they step in when Dr. Brad is unavailable. Thank you to all and we highly recommend Springfield Animal Hospital!

The absolute worse place to take your pet. All they do is push vaccines and antibiotics. Seriously went down hill after Dr. Tony sold to them. And force elderly clients to buy expensive Vet diet foods that have nothing but sub par ingredients. They only care about the money coming in and not your pet.

Unfortunately, there is only1 vet so it is difficult to get in. I have a new older cat so Dr. Dena was very nice in checking her over & talking with me. Staff very friendly.

I had just gotten a kitten that was transported from Tennessee and I wanted to get her checked out and to also see why her eyes were dripping. I was informed that I would get a call back to schedule a date and time. 2 hours later they call telling me that they can't get her in for a "couple" of weeks. Was told that this vet clinic was shady and had a bad reputation but I went against the better advice and went and its true Springfield Vet stands true to their very poor reputation. Such a low class vetinary clinic with low class workers. Glad I didn't Subject my innocent kitten to go into their dark chambers without me being with her. Who knows what they could have done behind closed doors. Be aware do your research and DO NOT GO TO THIS VETINARY CLINIC.

Springfield Animal Hospital is amazing. Everyone from the front desk staff to the techs. Dr Brad has gone above and beyond for my cat Lou. We have received the best care and support system there better then any vet I have previously dealt with. Thankful for all of you!

Awesome vet hospital!!! Friendly staff and great doctors. Dr. Tony treated my senior rescued cat and extended her life, I believe. When she passed at 20 years of age, I adopted a new senior girl. He found the surgery that had been done by another vet had left exposed roots in her mouth. He advocated for her with the humane society. This is a great local vet hospital!
