AMAZING PIZZA ! 🍕We loved this place, it’s atmosphere and the service. The food was excellent and the pizzas were beyond amazing. The only thins I want to mention is the the fact that it is on the pricey side and they charge 20% tip automatically. We didn’t know about that until the check arrived, and even then the waitress didn’t mention it (we saw it on the receipt) and could have accidentally paid the top twice! So heads up🤞

This is a beautiful and clean place restaurant in the area. They had some music entertainers playing violin and banjo playing while we were there and it gave the place a real country feel. The staff was excellent and we got good service there. We ordered the garden salad, tomato soup and pepperoni pizzas.

This place is truly a hidden gem. Staff were friendly and following on marking my experience is perfect. I had the Greek Salad and the Gardener Pizza. The wooden pizza tasted delicious and perfect. The salad was decent too. The outside seating at the porch was comfy even on a cold rainy day. Very historic place dated to 1828!Would definitely recommend this place.Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

Butternut squash bisque was perfect on a cool evening. Wood fired pizza was light and airy. Cocktails was balanced but robust, wine list was varied. Wonderful playlist on the porch speakers. And the service was phenomenal.

We loved it so much we ended up coming back everyday on our 3-day trip. We had dinner there the first night, and it was sooo good. We came back for drinks and appetizers. The staff is so kind, and accommodating. The set up is very socially distanced, and you're basically eating in their beautiful garden. Also available for takeout. Don't miss this place when you're in the area!

I live nearby and love the Kedron Valley Inn and surrounding property. I'm a New Yorker (L.I.) and have been spoiled by great food especially pizza my entire life. The Ransom Tavern in my opinion is just ok as far as the food and menu. The bar and drinks are very good. They need to shake up and diversify menu a bit. Some creative pizzas a couple good ones but the traditional marinara/Margherita and others with similar ingredients not so good. The sauce is just ok, needs to be more traditional. The menu lacks choices. What is a tavern without a great burger or sandwich? Soup choices? I get it with the pizza oven that's great but add some other options......

Pizza is delicious! The vegan pizza options are good enough…? Not having eaten them I can’t say for sure but its fantastic the options are there, and we occasionally have vegan guests so we’re so glad they provide the option. Service is great, nice ambiance, charming building. A local favorite.

What a beautiful place! Great food. The bartender was very welcoming (I should have gotten his name). Spencer Lewis performed in the dining room. Very talented man with such a great voice. We'll be back for sure.

I absolutely love dining at at Ransom Tavern when I am in town for a visit! The Neapolitan pizza is superb. This is my favorite way to enjoy pizza, so I am always on the hunt for some. The butternut squash bisque is divine, and the meatballs ricotta are delicious! The wine list is fantastic and there are local beers on draft. Highly recommended spot right outside of downtown Woodstock!

We stayed at the Inn on site and ate here for dinner one evening. The service is excellent. The drink list is extensive and you'll find a wine or beer you love. The pizza was very well done. There are two vegan options and they are accommodating. I also appreciated how spaced out the tables were considering the safety issues still of concern. If you're in the Woodstock area, definitely make it to Ransom Tavern!

We were blown away by the service and the food...and a beautiful setting on the veranda. Definitely seems like a hidden gem. Their gluten free crust was the best I've ever had and the salad was fresh and delicious.

Beautiful setting, excellent Neapolitan pizzas and salads, great drinks (expertly made cocktails), and best of all — friendly, attentive down to earth service. We will be back. Thanks for accommodating us.

I love Ransom Tavern. The atmosphere is relaxed and not too loud to have a real conversation, the service is excellent and the food surpasses expectations. It is the sort of place I call and hope I can get a reservation whenever I have friends coming to town.

This is a very special place. We expected to sit outdoors for dinner, but were pleasantly surprised to be offered our own private upstairs room for dining, one of the many COVID changes made to keep patrons safe. The room was amazing, our pizza and salad were great, and there was an eclectic beer & wine list. The staff was remarkably kind, and it’s the first time I’ve ever started planning a return visit before leaving a restaurant.

Went here on a whim with my wife and young kids. It was one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had. Friendly and attentive staff, beautiful interior and grounds, and amazing food (the pizza is the best in the Upper Valley and the desserts were outstanding). My son even got to make his own pizza :) can’t wait to go back.

The Ransom Tavern is the most wonderful relaxing place to have cocktails and dinner. They have added new yummy dishes to their already delicious menu. And before I forget the cocktails are a treat to the eye and the pallet. Thank you.

Amazing restaurant for a nice night out - great food, cocktails were out of this world, and good service. Perfect for COVID, as they’ve opened up at least 4 private rooms upstairs where you can eat separately with your party. Nice attention to COVID precautions otherwise too. We would highly recommend!

Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, absolute New England charm! Easy, simple, healthy menus of fresh salads and fire roasted pizzas and can't forget to mention the first class apps and wine list. Located at Kedron Valley Inn in South Woodstock vt.

This restaurant had the potential to be an amazing stop but just missed the mark. It’s in the middle of nowhere but part of a really quaint little village. The menu is limited to almost exclusively pizza, but ours was lacking. Toppings were sparse. I don’t mind paying $18 for a smallish pizza but I would expect it to be really good if that’s the focus of the restaurant.

Long story short: delicious pizza, perfect salads, carefully crafted flavorful well-balanced cocktails. This is worth a trip out of the way if you are passing through, even if you grab it to-go. This was my favorite food that I ate on a 2-week road trip through New England and East Coast. My father and I were traveling through Vermont when our drive came to an abrupt stop due to an accident on Route 4. We decided to get dinner and wait for the accident to be cleared. I impulsively chose this restaurant for dinner even though it was out of the way. When we arrived, we found that the restaurant was too full for us to eat in the restaurant, but the hostess kindly directed us to a back garden with tables and chairs where we could eat any food that we ordered to-go.I ordered our food to-go and it was ready under 15 minutes. We got the prosciutto arugula pizza and a Greek salad. The food was perfect! The pizza crust was flavorful and tender but still chewy. The ingredients were all obviously carefully chosen, because everything- the cheese, the balsamic reduction, the arugula, the prosciutto, and especially the ingredients in the salad- were perfectly balanced, fresh, flavorful, and beautiful. To make the perfect end to a delicious meal, as we walked to our car to test our luck on route 4 again, there was a tow truck parked next to our car with a wrecked vehicle on the back. I asked the men in the truck if they knew anything about the wreck on route 4. They pointed to the vehicle on their truck and said, "There's the wreck on route 4!" Then they assured me that route 4 was clear. After that, we hopped back on route 4 after a pleasant detour through downtown Woodstock and easily made it to our hotel in Rutland before dark.I feel very sorry for whoever got into that accident on route 4, and I truly hope they are well and uninjured. However, if it weren't for that accident, I wouldn't have gotten to try this lovely gem of a restaurant. I've been traveling through the east coast from Washington, D.C. to Bar Harbor, Maine for 2 weeks now, and this was my favorite meal I've had on this trip. With the delicious food, the beautiful storybook-like scenery and the strange circumstances that led me here, I think I will remember this meal for the rest of my life.(I attached a photo I took of the back garden. The mess on the table is all us, the restaurant just gave us the food to go. The table settings inside the restaurant were very nice.)

Food was good. Service excellent. I wasn't impressed with the atmosphere tho, wish it was a little more cozy. And it felt a bit drafty on the snowy evening that we were there.

Overpriced, un-accommodating & snooty. If you like a pretentious atmosphere...This is your place. Otherwise there are plenty of other local pubs that are much more fitting of the country atmosphere.
