Went to the Pet Advantage to update our sons fish tank. Great selection of fish and decorations. Gabe is very knowledgeable and helped our 5 year old pick the fish that would do best in our set up and was very patient with him. Would definitely recommend going there for all your pets needs!

Great store with a large selection of fish and reptile livestock. In northwestern Vermont the aquarium options are slim. Your choice is either petco or petsmart. Thankfully, there is the Pet Advantage as well and while a lot of the food and supplies here are a bit marked up, the fish themselves are a great deal and certainly beat the quality of the nearby chains mentioned. I'll also add that I was going to order some fish online - some rummynose tetras for an aquarium but I was thrilled to see there is a local fish store that sells a variety of freshwater and saltwater fish and now I don't need to worry about shipping costs or fish surviving the shipping. All in all it's a well run store - and I am an aquarium hobbyist that's been keeping fish for almost 20 years.

Gabe the owner has always been a huge help with all my pets. Always informative with real life experience and knowledge. Always has what ever I need in store. Staff is very friendly and professional. The animals and your pets will always be their priority above all else. This is a place you can know has knowledgeable staff also not like going to a petco or some other random franchise store. For reference I own a 4 year old python, a cat, and two dogs. Previously a tarantula that made it to 12 years old (which is a good long life for a tarantula) thanks to the information I got from pet advantage alone.

I'm not personally a shopper of The Pet Advantage, but everyone I know locally that is a pet owner says that The Pet Advantage is the place to go. I've been in the store on multiple occasions with friends and family. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have a decent range of supplies and pets for sale. Insects, arachnids, reptiles, fish, fuzzy animals... They've got a lot.The store has a feeling of being well stocked with an array of goods without feeling cramped. It's a pet store, so there will be a certain level of smell and mess as one would expect. However, I would never say that this store is dirty or untidy.If you're looking for a local pet store that isn't Walmart size with friendly staff and a cozy feeling atmosphere then you should go to The Pet Advantage.

Another pet store that shouldn’t be selling birds. There had to be twenty parakeets in a cage big enough for two to three at most. Many of them are overt weight probably because they just eat seeds and don’t fly. The bigger parrots are in cages big enough for parakeets. None of them are in flight cages. One of the birds was isolated. Better than Petco at least because the parrots had more space and weren’t isolated but if one gets sold then they might be isolated. Friendly staff but they should stick to fish and hamsters. Go to a place that specifies in birds or adopt. I hope pet stores learn that birds are intelligent like cats and dogs and stop selling them like merchandise.

The Pet Advantage has been a go-to source for advice, boarding, accessories and food for our birds for almost three decades. The owners are very knowledgeable and meticulous about explaining to customers what to expect when they buy a new pet, and have been a great resource for experienced pet owners. They get to know their customers and know many of their customers' pets by name. Their pricing tends to be higher than the chains they compete with, but they long ago earned our trust when it comes to our "fids."

On April 25th, I had a negative encounter at Pet Advantage. A staff member in the fish department mocked my pronunciation of a fish's name, despite there being multiple accepted pronunciations in the aquarium hobby. Additionally, the overall atmosphere of the store felt unwelcoming. Despite spending over $60, including $30 on a betta fish, I was surprised when they attempted to charge an extra $1 for the fish container. This treatment was unlike anything I've experienced in my lifelong patronage of pet stores. I typically support local, independent stores over large chains, but this experience has left me reconsidering where I spend my money.

Bought a fresh water fish, looked fine at first, 2 days later it’s dead from a swim bladder infection/disease. It was swimming funky and the staff worker said it was normal, my tank is very clean there’s nothing in the tank that could have caused this. I spent $30 for nothing, pretty pricey for a sick fish and lying to a child. I’ll never step foot in this store to buy wildlife again.

Love this place. The family that owns it are some of the most pleasant people to deal with and they really know their stuff. Will be a sad day for me if they ever close. Been a customer since the blue mall days as a kid. Stay away from chains. Put your money in the pockets of these hard working people. You won't be disappointed!

These guys always have the right answer all you have to do is ask! They are great with a lot of different kinds of pets! We have a spotted gecko, that they love to hear about and ask questions about as well. Love these guys because they will take a pet in when a soldier is deployed ❤ 💙 all around a great pet store!

A great pet store with friendly knowledge staff. Big selection of reptiles, small animals, fresh & saltwater fish, pet habitats....treats..all kinds of creature care supplies! I have started my first saltwater tank and they have been extremely helpful!

Amazing place! I adopted a rabbit from them on the 5th. One of the employees walked me around the whole store showing me different foods, toys, houses, cages, grooming tools, and more! She gave me great tips about what toys I could buy that they didn't sell there, how to set up his pen, and even how to litter train him!

Kind, patient, knowledgeable staff. My kids went in for Betta fish, and were enjoying looking at all of the many other animals. The employees clearly knew the personalities of each pet, and which would be appropriate for young children to interact with, and which wouldn't. My kids are very happy with their new fish ( Pretty and Ruby George Ginny Weasley). Thank you for a great experience!

10/10 recommendOwner is such a great person!We travel 2 hours to come here every two weeks from NY to pick up live mice, and dirt for our ball pythons. We love coming to the store so many cool pets! As well as i was running 10 mins late past there closing time at 6pm. And they were still more than happy to help me get what I needed @6:10pm. I can’t thank that enough. Any other place would’ve said I’m sorry we are closed

I've bought multiple reptiles from this place! The staff is very friendly and willing to help you. I would recommend going to this place instead of a larger pet store (such as petco) since many of their animals are from local breeders and the store is family owned.

I bought speciality foods for my aging Chihuahua. The staff were valet perfect. Very knowledgeable trouble shooting issues with pet care.They have a variety of small pets for sale, fish and a nice shopping layout.They remembered me, same person helped me dispite my visits having been six months apart.My pet did not care for the food they sold me and they would not take it as a return. At the big store on Williston have a return 'unused' portion policy. I should have asked prior to purchase bit I was sorely disappointed to be out $23.My mistake, they lost me as a customer.

Always has a good selection of quality food and treats that Petco and Petsmart struggle to stock. Xander was super cool and helped me poke around for some options regarding a fat rat, very grateful for the PA crew always.

Has full grown Chameleon in a cage too small, no UV bulb and a red light which is terrible for their eyes. When confronted the owner was rude and said he knew how to take care of Chameleons. This husbandry provided by the owner will result in a poor health and eventually death.

Doesn’t honor warranty after one day my auto cat died, the other one and the kuli leach lived.Told me my tank was too new. Never advised even when questioned because I hadn’t had one before. Will not make that trip again.

If u are looking for more exotic fish and larger fish this is a great store to go to they also have exotic pets like snakes lizards and Etc have used and new equipment is 7 day warranty if your fish died pretty good customer service but the store is small and kind of cramp but have a lot of different breed styles of fish they have a 14 foot albino python, a 10-foot python, several different type of bird species and their prices on their pets are pretty good also can order much larger tank for both salt and fresh water tanks, they also have several reptilian tanks bird cages and critters to feed your pets with, they do have a lot of saltwater fish and freshwater fish lots of different breeds they have shrimp and some crawdads a beautiful selection of Aquatic Life and they have a lot of coral that you can purchase to, well I went to the store the other day and don't plan on ever getting your money back on exotic fish because I went in there the other day and brought spring water and they try to tell me the ammonia was through the roof now if anyone has common sense they know that spring water has no ammonia show when they say it's a 7-Day guarantee the return it it's not and I can tell you 20 other people that it happened to so don't plan on getting your money back if your fish dies basically once you buy your fish you don't get your money back if you want your money back if a fish dies go to Petco they have a great return policy I ordered a red tail catfish better what day it died I have bought 9 other fish before that and did not have a problem until I have the red tail catfish so if you know that your tanks good and you don't mind losing money you can go here they weren't even explain how their weird testing goes they use test glass tubes to test your water I have took in my water to Petco and PetSmart and my levels were perfect show you tell me if they did mess with the levels to not refund my money or fish well update the owner di make up food great deal now just work with him and u will get the best
