I’ve emailed so many times and got nowhere with customer service. My 17 was able to buy a bearded dragon, should have never happened. Sold a tank cracked in the corner. I was able to bring it back a couple days later after I bought a new one from a better pet store. It’s illegal to sell children living creatures, the lady didn’t tell the children anything about even how to care for him. They weren’t sold any food, nothing. So not only was a child illegally sold a breaded dragon, they were also not told or explained to anything about it. Not a very responsible thing to do. How can a pet store care for the animals when they sell them without anything to a child. Thankfully for this little guy I’m now caring for him, because she obviously being a teenager has a busy life and doesn’t have the time. Very frustrating especially now that I’m the one paying for everything because the Petco employee messed up. What about all the other parents that couldn’t afford to take care of pets?? What happens then?? Petco should be responsible for supplying all the food and stuff for this little guy since he was ILLEGALLY sold to a child and the parents, me, were never asked but are now responsible for him. Crazy that this has happened. I used to think this was an ok store, obviously not great, but ok at least!!!

Manager is completely unsuitable for the job and doesn’t seem to care for people or animals. Completely miserable and annoyed appearance making anyone’s visit feel uncomfortable. Other people have also noticed and written in the comments.Found a pet budgie nearby Petco at the hotel and brought it in, was hoping for some kind of positive response or some kind of comforting reply that they would look after it or find the owners but got nothing except a miserable mutter saying they will do something with it, no eye contact and just the manager shaking it off the hat it was on and shoving it into a box. I do not feel like he is reliable and now I worry for the bird but I’m on the way to the airport for a flight.

Great store and employees, but overall lack of cat stuff - I adopted cats in July and while Petco is close by, I usually have to drive much further to get the things I need. The other day I was at Staples in the plaza so I walked into Petco hoping to find a cute Valentine's themed cat toy, there were only two options, and they had only one left each! I usually drive to PetSmart in Williston to get a variety of cat toys.

Helpful and courteous staff. Have NEVER has an unsatisfactory interaction with store employees. (Some of these negative reviews are ridiculous. The fact that someone found a bird, and brought it to this store, and NOT a vet...is insane. Birdlady, you deserve a negative review.)

Great fish supply!!! The manager was very nice, and told lots of true information. (Unlike petsmart) I bought a beautiful Blood Red Parrot Cichlid, which is doing amazing at the moment. I will 100% be returning here, & I’ll probably never be seen at petsmart again. If your looking for a place to get animals that can live overnight, then come here!

Worse PETCO I've been 2. Smells like rodent pee. Shelves are bare with no selection of things. The workers couldn't/wouldn't help me with a harness. I won't be going here again & it's 6 min from my place.

Can you please give the Guinea Pigs a bigger space? They are 3 very large Guineas in a little box. They can’t even run in that, they are all stuck. The green accessories literally take half of the space.

Check the local Craigslist before buying birds. There are often many birds that need a new home. They live many years and are the number one re-homes pet! These beautiful creatures don’t need to be sold in sad pet stores

In late June/Early July (i forget the exact date) i got 2 gerbils. Their cage had clearly not been cleaned in weeks- how do i know? A few factors- first- i had been to the petco 3.5 weeks prior and saw the wheel (mesh wheel which is known for ripping rodent limbs off mind you) had fallen over. It was still fallen over in the exact same position in the exact same place in the cage. Second- i took two handfuls of bedding from the cage for the carrier so theyd have a scent they recognized. Both of those handfuls had more poop than bedding. As someone who’s had gerbils for 11 years- i know that there was roughly 2 weeks of poop in each handful.On top of that- i recognize that pet stores wont have the deep bedding gerbils need because otherwise they wouldnt sell the gerbils. That being said- anyone with gerbils knows that all you need to keep them happy is a wheel and cardboard. And i mean tp rolls and egg cartons and tape-free parts of boxes. Stuff every person can get for free in heartbeat and already has. They had 1-2-1in bedding (bedding/poop), the fallen wheel that hadnt been fixed, one single small ceramic hide/house, and a waterbottle. Nothing else.The boys were also so traumatized that they would jump and attack and bite any hand that went near them. This is not a normal gerbil, rodent, or prey animal behavior and is a defensive or stress behavior.I reported the location to petco corporate and they were really apologetic and surprised. My old location also would definitely have had a few firings by the boss if anyone cared for even a fish that poorly. The manager randomly called my phone then- mind you i dont think i gave my number so there had to be some amount of cross referencing and stuff- and basically was like “im sorry you feel that way- the wheel kept falling over and we clean it as often as we are told to” which was a blatant lie. I know the wheel didnt keep falling over because ive had these boys for about 5-6 months and the wheel hasnt fallen over once.I also know that with basic proper care they now have gotten to the point where they have-combined- bit me a total of 3 times over 2 months compared to the immediate attacks initially- and of those 3 times, 2 were nips of them checking if my hand was food (i had been holding treats beforehand) and the 3rd time was because i was patting them too much. Yes patting them. From them attacking any hand on sight to me being able to pat them, work on their cage with them in it, and last week they walked on my arm for the first time.They are still traumatized 5 months later. I took an animal behavior course because i am studying animal cognition- it is 100% trauma and not speculation or projection. Any time there is too much poop in their sand bath, or any other mild stressers- they immediately start demonstrating atypical (stress) behaviors such as chewing on plastics and metals as opposed to their cardboard and wood. I always immediately clean the sand when i see it and they immediately calm down. Gerbils also thump/stomp to warn other gerbils of threats if they feel threatened- they do it for longer and more often than any other gerbil ive had in my 11 years of having gerbils (that is 9 other gerbils, plus the 6 my sister had that i cared for)The last thing- i dont know how old my boys are except that they were under a year when i got them. I asked. They didnt even have an inventory stock date. All they could tell me was under a year because, as they said, they dont keep them over a year (which is also concerning)Also- awful manager of this location- if you do try to contact me again with anything other than the exact dates of birth or when you got the gerbils and nothing else, i will contact corporate again with the current impact the trauma you caused two helpless animals.Oh- and there is nothing you can say, do, or lie about that will make me remove my post. And my friend was with me that day so i do have an eye witness to confirm all of this

I would have given 4 stars if it wasn't for the service. Prices are high, and you can order the same stuff online slightly cheaper. ( and pick up in store) but management here has taken time and effort to honor the online prices. Also the one time I had a discrepancy, I was treated like a good customer, and had a Manager during a busy time fix my issue. Knowledge is high with the fish area. Big selection of food and treats. ( I have dogs cats and cichlids)

Sometimes when you think about a chain store of any kind, the words "impersonal" or "uncaring" come to mind. Not so with the Petco in S. Burlington. I stopped by there after having a terrible experience with a vet who made it sound like our puppy was demented. Dennis was helping me and I shared my story with him, and he could tell I was upset. He immediately comforted me and assured me that puppies are not always on their best behavior, so that was wrong of the vet to characterize him that way. He also recommended that I could talk with Ashley, the store trainer, so I made an appointment for the next day. I brought Freddy in and- guess what?- he was a perfect gentleman and Ashley reassured me that he displayed no troubling characteristics. She spent the entire session going over tips for raising a puppy with positive reinforcement techniques. She gave me a folder chock full of helpful info - then followed up with a detailed summary of our visit via email. I've put Ashley's advice into action and Freddy has responded beautifully. I am so happy that I connected with such kind and compassionate animals lovers at Petco. It's a very special place, even though it is part of a chain. Thank you, Dennis and Ashley!

I only recently got into aquarium keeping and I have been doing a lot of research. I am very careful to learn about fish before I choose them but of course I still have questions. Petco has done such a great job of helping me figure out solutions for my aquarium so that I can design my 55 gallon peaceful community tank. I have come in so many times with questions and there has usually been someone available to help me. I am impressed with the level of knowledge from the employees and the health of the fish that I have purchased there, as well as several plants. I am sitting here now after hours of watching my fish and looking forward to many more hours of entertainment thanks to Petco's help!

Horrible customer service! Called four different times in an hour, no one answered the main line, took the dog to try to have the nails clipped, and the one and only groomer is on leave. Girl at the cashier just smirked and then turned her back.

Store is fully stocked and staff seemed friendly. When I visit Vermont each year I get my pet supplies here and everytime to store smell is horrible. This time walking in the door the unbelievable foul smell was overwhelming so I did not buy anything and I ended up going to mail order. There needs to be full time mop with bleach to clean the floors in this store and the animals cages need to be cleaned/sanitized daily. A air oder eliminator would be helpful. Improvement should be immediate and a solid structure with higher standards needs to be implemented. Truly the staff and management should be embarrassed. I've been to many Petco locations and store standards are much higher than this location.

Rude, over the top defensiveness for asking if they might have any back stock on an item, bordering frankly on hostility.?? I don't care that it isn't on the shelf, I just had basic questions on when it might be back. First he said what they had on the shelf was what they had, then when I asked if he knew when they might get a new shipment, he said he had 16 pallets in the back. Dude, just say you don't actually want a job and be honest. Holy triggered and overly emotional cashier/manager, Batman. It was bizarre how immediately on the verge of screaming this guy was. Hope he doesn't have a family he goes home to because he is a walking red flag, if you catch my drift. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be returning based on this exchange. The mostly empty shelves, dirty store, and abysmal customer service makes this an easy choice. The empty aisles devoid of other customers on a weekend says others likely feel the same. Do yourself a favor and head to the local Pet Warehouse where they don't mind customers wanting to spend their money there. Last thing he said to me was that if I wanted an item I should just go to Amazon and have it delivered. Will do, guy, good job. 👍🏻Sorry for bothering you with my business.

These animals should not be in this store I am going to put pictures on this review and also to Facebook for the public. what I saw today was heartbreaking and extremelyunprofessional.and the employees in the store could care less. I try talking to a manager ,try talking to the cashier totally got shut down I cannot believe what I saw. these cages are not cleaned like they should be. And there are 2 hamsters ln the same cage one has a bruised eye that is hard to open. They should not be together at all.They need help.The problem is the people who get hired DO nT CArE ABOUT ANIMALS AND OR THEY DONT KNOW ANYTHING about there breed or species of the animals.

I’m feeling very upset right now. I scheduled a grooming with petco a month ago and they canceled my appointment 2 days before. I needed to have her groomed before a big celebration. I called to explain my situation and was told that nothing would be done to resolve the issue. I hung up just frustrated. I was counting on them to be at the least punctual.Previously, I haven’t seen any availability with them unless it’s a month+ out and have not once been able to reach the grooming department over the phone.

My current pet is a reptile, so I’m only familiar with their reptile section. The employees there are nice and very helpful, but their selection of reptile goods is very sparse and things are often damaged or out of stock for weeks. I’ve yet to be able to buy small crickets from there, they never have them. I’ll probably driver further and go to a different store from now on.

Every time I am in there most the employees are so nice to me, and very helpful. I will say that their new manager needs to work on his ppl skills, he was completely unapproachable, he was putting away a load and was treating as if I was a annoyance, so I got another employee and asked for the manager only for her to point to him, so told her. In the end the manager wanted to sell me sick fish, fish loaded with ich. I pointed 3 fish with out it and he the manager argued with me and told he was treating them. I said yeah will they aren't in your treatment tank. Still refused to sell healthy fish, was only going to sell sick fish. I honestly should have called corporate on him.

Bought a bearded dragon here a couple weeks ago, brought it to the vet a week ago and was diagnosed with a HIGH percentage of 3 different parasites. He’s being treated for it now but learn from me, and don’t support and purchase animals from big chain pet stores. They could even be sick without presenting symptoms and in the long run have a shorter life span than it could of because of it. Also - the people gave me LARGE crickets for a BABY bearded dragon.. that could have impacted him and he could have died that way! Not sure they have proper knowledge in reptiles or what.. Good thing I researched and am in the process of saving him. Next time we get another animal, regardless of what it is, do not expect me to go here, Petsmart, etc!

Shelves not well stocked overall for my needs. Barely any choices of healthy, digestible treats & teething food items for a tiny (2.8 pounds) puppy. The floor worker I did (have to go ask, although 2 were standing down the aisle from me for quite some time, but never approached me,) was very kind & tried her best to help me. When she failed to locate any products, she enlisted the assistance of the 2nd floor worker, to find 1 item I decided to try. It was basically 'something' to fit my puppy's teething needs until...(I could order from another store online, tbh.) There were 2 lines open but 1 had a sales issue, apparently, and was actually using the cash register in the middle of 3 lanes to try to rectify their problem. Once rectified, they did not open that line; I waited in line with a product I was not at all invested in owning & which was not at all what I wanted... for about 10 minutes! I was not impressed & will not return to this store. This is not in line with my other experiences in Petco Stores elsewhere.

This store is generally very wonderful and customer service is excellent, however they didn't have everything I needed today- was looking for malt paste (I understand this is a special item and they probably just don't stock it). The downside of my visit was that the feminine products waste bin in the women's bathroom hadn't been emptied in a long time and it was very gross...the bathroom in general was just very dirty. I'd recommend this store, but they should keep up on cleaning.

The three employees that assisted me when I arrived were so kind and patient with me. I brought back a Quaker that wasn't the right fit for me and they answered all my questions. I was able to trade the quaker for a pineapple green cheeked conure who is so incredibly sweet. I am very pleased and will return.
