Love this little diner in the middle of no where. Food is down home cooking, service is friendly and quick. A good stop over on our way to NY.Parking: Large enough for trucks and RVs

The food was great! My wife and I stopped here for lunch - I got the mozzarella sticks and she got chicken tenders. She's a connessieur of chicken tenders and she says they're some of the best she's had! The waitress seemed very new but was definitely friendly and an older lady (I'm assuming the owner) was also friendly. Good home cooking small town diner!

Wow! What a delightful place to eat! 🤗 Our waitress was the most kind and customer service centered person we’ve come across in a long time. We went during a pretty busy time and she went out of her way to keep our boys entertained as we waited for our meal. And the conversation was also great. We felt like we were part of the family. Aside from the amazing service and family friendly atmosphere, the food was DELICIOUS and very reasonably priced! Wish we didn’t live an hour away. We will definitely make our way back at some point. Thank you for the amazing service!!

We’ve driven by this place dozens of times and never really noticed it. We stopped in on a Friday night. The place was empty but quickly filled around 6pm.Our server was friendly. Our food was so-so and the hand cut fries were undercooked and hard in the middle. We ordered a grilled cheese and the cheese was not melted in the middle. The portion of the fries was on the smaller side. We also ordered French toast which was cold when it arrived. The “ locals “ stared at us the entire visit.Unfortunately, a disappointing visit.

We had breakfast at the Halfway House - what a delight! Everything about this family restaurant was a pleasure. It was unpretentious, which was so nice and a change from many other restaurants lately. We felt welcomed by the staff, the food was delicious and filling and reasonably priced. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. I wish we lived closer to the Halfway House because then we'd make it a weekly stop. I highly recommend this restaurant.

During our road trip, we decided to make a stop at this halfway restaurant for breakfast, and I must say, it was definitely worth it. The pancakes were simply delightful, fluffy, and cooked to perfection. The sausage had a savory, smoky flavor that paired perfectly with the eggs, which were cooked just the way we liked them. The breakfast provided a satisfying start to our day, and the service was prompt and friendly. While the restaurant may not offer an extensive menu, the quality of the food and the enjoyable dining experience made it a worthwhile pit stop on our journey. If you find yourself in need of a delicious and satisfying breakfast during a road trip, this halfway restaurant is a reliable choice that won't disappoint.

Our family came here for dinner and we really enjoyed ourselves. The food (especially dessert) was amazing! Our waitress was very accommodating, especially going out of her way to interact pleasantly with our kids. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic small town diner feel.

Sloppy Joe special today...yes please! I had the white board special today. Served with French fries and coleslaw, this meal hit the spot. The Halfway House has a diverse menu of home cooked meals that would satisfy just about everybody's appetite! The desserts are tasty too. I had the carrot cake and it was moist and delicious! The Halfway House is must stop while visiting or just passing through Shoreham, VT!

Visited on a whim, during a road trip... And we walked into an experience!! The people greeted us, not only the staff but other patrons... The food was some of the best food, that I have ever eaten!! They support local farmers, which made me love them even more! They could tell me exactly, where the cheese curds came from and who baked the pies... This place is a definite gem, and the world needs more places like it... I hope that I get to return someday!!!

Best diner in Addison County. Wish we had a place like this in Middlebury, but it's worth the drive.

I highly recommend this diner! (Or shall I say continue to highly recommend as it was highly recommended to us). The waitress was extremely nice, gave us great service with a smile making us feel at home. The food was so delicious, homemade style. I also enjoyed the decor with all the old time photos on the wall.It ranked as one of the BEST I have ever been to.Thank you Halfway House for an enjoyable dining experience ❣️

Was traveling through and stumbled on this gem. While unappealing on the outside this place is amazing. We were greeted with friendly smiles. The menu is suited for a diner. Breakfast all day a good selection of sandwiches, as well as just enough app and meal options. My daughter had a buttery delicious grilled cheese and fries ideal for a 6 year old. Wife had a Grilled cheese with bacon and tomato with onion rings. Also great. I opted for the Ham dinner with fries done as poutine and coleslaw. The ham was good quality and grilled well, poutine was delicious with hand cut fries, local curds and awesome gravy. Coleslaw was unique, have never seen another like it. It was fresh, and almost melted in your mouth. We shared a fried dough w maple butter for dessert and all left stuffed and happy. Prices are reasonable and restaurant was older diner style but very clean. Highly recommend and will stop here again if ever in the area.

Best fried chicken I’ve had in a long time. Grew up in the south and it’s been hard to find up north. Was hot crisp and the meat tender and juicy.Service was great and staff incredibly friendly.Definitely recommend for family fare.

Great home made food!! I've been coming here for 15 years. I only make it to Vermont once a year, and the Halfway House is always on my itinerary. The owner and staff are extremely friendly. The desserts are plentiful and fantastic. I Can't wait to come back.

Wish I had stopped in all the times I drove by on 22A! Didn’t know what I was missing! The burgers were the best I’ve had in Vermont! Reminded me of the burgers I enjoyed at diners years ago where I grew up. The bacon was crispy, the cheese was warm & melted. Price was great too for the quality. The mozzarella sticks were delicious as well. They had 2 beautiful homemade cakes available that day too! ..Was still full from the meal, but should have bought a slice of the chocolate cake with buttercream frosting for later!Enjoyed the comfy feel of the place & sense of community. It was fun to see the classic motorcycles and cars in the many old family photos on the walls. They even had a working pay phone !!

Cute diner and good food. Wasn't sure it would offer dine-in because of covid, but they were open. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week. Even offer beer and wine (we did not partake because it was 9 am). Biscuits and gravy were tasty. Good coffee and quick refills. Will definitely be back again!
