This is a beautiful place. It is free to get in and we spent hours walking and hiking on the farm. Lots of sites to see a must do. One of my favorite things we did in Vermont!!!! I will say it will only be fun if you enjoy walking/ hiking.

What a stunningly beautiful place! And you can visit for free (or a parking donation, if you wish.) Loads of trails and you can visit the beautiful inn and flower terrace. I didn't get to the farm side but it all looks amazing! The shop is really fun, but no "real" food there, not like wrapped sandwiches or anything. They have coffee and cider donuts, plenty of cheese and bags of chips for sale. I think you can get a proper meal at the Inn, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I was fortunate to be able to dine here for breakfast recently and hope to return. The house itself is unreal and the food was incredible. We had the biscuits and gravy and the pancakes. Both the biscuits and pancakes were super fluffy. After breakfast we enjoyed a walk on the grounds. A lovely spot for a celebratory meal.

Lovely place to take a hike through woods and pastures. They have short programs all through the day. Beautiful barn. Cheese making facilities. A grand view I’ve Lake Champlain to New York.

Beautifully maintained farm with kid friendly activities. People work there are friendly and we enjoyed our visit to the farm. We walked to the farm from the gate through a small trail in the weekday. There is also a cute little bakery inside the farm where they sell fresh pastries. At the entrance to the farm you will find a small shop/visitor center where they sell cheese.

Beautiful farm! Well maintained! I loved all the activities they had available. So much to do. The animals are well kept and taken cared for. The workers are all happy. So much to do here. I would say you need at least 3 hours here. I highly recommend this place!

So much to do at Shelburne Farms! There's so many hiking trails. The views are gorgeous with the vast farmlands and lake views. The farm store has local items. The barn has many farm animals to check out. The inn has extremely beautiful interior with lots of antiques. The bakery has freshly baked breads that smells heavenly. So much to do !

On our first trip there, it was a beautiful Sunday. We parked at the entrance, where we witnessed at least 10 families, minimum of 15-20 people, either loading their bikes back up after a bike ride, unloading their bike in preparation for a bike ride, or we could see people already biking in the distance. My family thought, "wow, what a great idea! What an awesome and beautiful place to ride bikes!"Fast-forward about 2 weeks, we decide to load up our bikes and head to Shelburne Farms for a family bike ride, like we saw so many others doing the first Sunday we were there. As we were unloading our bikes, a very rude and mean lady walked up to us, very rudely telling us biking is not allowed there, and didn't even have the decency to listen to us as we tried to explain to her the only reason we took our bikes there in the first place is because the first time we were there we saw so many families biking. She essentially called us liars. What is the difference between the people we saw biking that Sunday and us? We happen to be people of color.Rules are rules, I get it and I'm all for rules. But what happens so often to people of color, is that it's only with us that people decide to ENFORCE the rules. As an adult, I’ve experienced situations like this plenty of times. While still painful, I have grown accustomed to it. The worst and most painful part was trying to explain to my 6 and 7 year old children why we were being reprimanded and scolded, when they saw other people riding bikes there themselves.I'm so extremely disappointed in how we were treated and we for sure will never go back nor recommend any person of color go back.

Beware that tractor shuttle only works on weekends now, we checked the website before and it didn’t warn that the service stopped during the week and now all visitors can only walk to explore the area. The surrounding pastures are grand so be prepared to be on your feet if you come with children/elderly. Otherwise, great education programs like milking the cows, meeting sheep and watching cheesemakers.

Even off season it's a beautiful place to walk and there are always some animals around. The baby sheep were in the barn and a treat!

Magnificent experience. There is plenty of parking in this remote area and the landscape is grand. There is a nice sized gift and food store at entrance with baked breads, cheeses, chocolates and sweets. Plenty of local photography cards as well. The walk to barn was a treat. There was a feeling of grazing through an English country side of an estate. We were happy to come across baby lamb! What a treat. They were darling! It is a beautiful property and I am grateful to have come here.

A destination by itself, worth any detour if traveling through Vermont. Beautiful sights and great locally produced products to buy. The bread and cheese are definitely worth trying. You can definitely plan 3-4 hours there if you want to.Great to visit with kids, lots of stroller friendly trails (as long as your stroller is somewhat all terrain).

Our family visited in winter and it’s amazing! We rode the carriage, sled is not available because there’s not much snow, but still it was a great experience. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating, they sell very good farm items in the shop.

Did the Sun to Cheese tour. This was fun, and interesting. We got to try several cheese samples, had an amazing tour guide, and see the cows and calves. Beautiful grounds. Amazing mission.

You could easily spend a whole day or two exploring this farm and participating in events. Lots of hands-on learning to do! Locals come and take a walk or run on the many trails or paths available. Milk a cow. Learn about maple syrup and cheddar cheese production. At the very least, eat or get some farm-made products to go! Very nice and helpful people!! Spoke with Ellie for a good while in the "cheese" barn about everything farm related. Lots of friendly faces.

Arrived later in the day to walk the trails and do a short driving tour of the grounds. The wholesale bakery is apparently open until 5:00 p.m. most days, and sometimes has smaller items available for private purchase, but we didn't arrive in time during our visit. The store at the front entrance has a good selection of cheese, syrups, merchandise, chocolates, cards, and some fresh vegetables. Extremely nice and helpful staff.

The grounds are beautiful. I walked to the mansion and formal gardens. Surprising how many blooms even though it was the end of September. The Farm Barn was fun to see some animals up close and watch cheese being made. I stopped in the bakery and purchased a seeded baguette and an oatmeal cookie. Yummy!

We could not leave Vermont without checking this farm out, but we tried. One of the last recommendations directed us here for fresh cheese and bakery. Our road trip home was all farm fresh and only wished we had a cooler to bring more. We enjoyed the walk around the farm as well. We only wished he had more time and had come at the beginning of our trip as initially planned instead of the end.

Amazing Farm. Had a fabulous time milking a 12 year cow. A must visit farm if you are visiting Vermont. Don’t miss the castle!

This was an unexpected gem on our journey. We stopped because the wife wanted cheese, which they did sell in the store at the front. Then we discovered we could visit the animals. We had no idea the Barn was at one time the largest in the US. The Barn was really interesting, it was like a trip back to the 1800s. Kids got to milk a cow pet a calf, sheep and goats. If you're in the area I would carve out a few hours, get the kids out of the car and enjoy.

Beautiful property. Probably best appreciated visiting as part of a group tour. Signage could be better, including availability of paper trail maps. Make a rest stop prior to visiting. Only option there is porta potties.

Wow; what a great place!January snow hiking / walking is chilly and beautiful. The paths are plowed well, and there were several cross country skiers trekking alongside the paths. The sunset over the lake is quite stunning, and the area in general: fields, rolling hills, and barns are picturesque!Food: their stuffed cabbage is DELICIOUS! Only wish I had ordered more Food!Gifts: during covid they have closed all their buildings - however they are accommodating gift & clothing etc purchases through window service.

Wonderful farm with very serene, beautiful trails. You can see lots of animals, including chickens, cows, horses, and sheep. You can also see how cheese is made live in their little factory. Some things are closed due to COVID, but there's a shop you can buy fresh produce at to support the farm. There are many different trails and you can choose them based on how long you want to walk. There's a lot to do, and a lot to see!
