We have eaten carry out once or twice a month from East China Garden for years. The meals have included a large amount of well prepared fresh vegetables which aren’t available at the other other dining choices in Randolph. Although dining in was closed and the quality suffered this simple carry out restaurant with fair prices remained open during COVID. Our recent meal of mixed vegetables and broccoli chicken was the best we’ve had. It included mushrooms, snow peas, zucchini, bok choy, and not an abundance of carrots. A few tables are now open for dining in! The space desperately needs freshening up, hopefully the property owner and restaurant owners can work together to make some improvements.

Absolutely incredible! Probably the 5th or 6th time I’ve been here and it’s been perfect every single time. How these guys have a 3 star is no representation of actually how good their food is!

Simple family run business. They are always friendly, service is quick, and food is good. My favorite dish is c17: General Tsao's Chicken, and I have it with white rice and a spring roll as sides. It's a great price for the amount of food, plus it's the best I have had at a Chinese restaurant in a long time. Also, I don't normally eat Chinese spring rolls because they are usually too greasy, but the spring rolls here are great. I am attaching photos of the restaurant interior, my general tsao's take out, and my fiance's take out which was called Ma Po Tofu.

The orange beef was not good at all. Texture was off, mushy. The sesame chicken was good. I ordered take out and they charged me for hot mustard and duck sauce. Never had that happen at any other restaurant. Last time I went there, 4 years ago, the food was such a disappointment that I didn't return until now. I guess it will be another 4 years before I go again.

After years of going here.....we're just resigned to the fact that the service, may be anywhere from horrible , to OK. Food is good...but service,...I don't think she cares really.UPDATE: 12/2018 Service has remained below acceptable....last nite was the last straw. Waitress and the Owner both just don't seem to care about the basics of customer service in a restaurant. Very irritating. Multiple times , I had to get up and go ask the young lady, for plates....serving spoons ( which we never did get.), water ( we never did get ), and containers for take away ( she gave us 1 and we had to ask for two more ) . Her attitude went totally sour by the end of the meal. Tip ?....are you kidding? We won't be going back despite the food is fine, not great mind you...just fine.. Go for the take out, if your starving.Update: 4/2023Surprised today , after returning from some time away , how bad the food here has now become. I can still remember a time when we really liked this place. The service now, ...at the window ( it is no longer " dine in " )....is barely passable at best. They clearly are not happy being in the restaurant business , and should find something else they might make a better effort with. Customer area of ordering is dirty , and the food that I bought today was garbage. I fed it to the crows in my back yard when I got home. Yuck !4/07/2024 Now only a take-out restaurant. but they do have a couple of tables , if you want to sit and eat out of a paper bag. No table service . All business , not very friendly. Pay your money , get your food. I know , I said we're never go back....but we were in Randolph to see a movie , and there was literally nothing else open for anything to eat ....aside from driving out to MacDonalds. We were very hungry , the food was edible.

Better than most places I've been quality of food wise. Place is still in COVID take out mode. The money you spend adds up very fast. In the past two years it has always been 20-30 dollars minimum for a single person. And lastly. Customer service and attention to detail is a bit lacking. Ask for a fair amount of soy sauce as I wasn't eating at home. Give me two. So I stop back and ask for more. Another 2 packets. Needs to be better at service considering price.

This Place does not deserve a star at all. We ordered lunch for our office of 4. 3 out of the 4 of us got sick. We didn't even get through the whole meal. I had to leave work and go home due to being so sick. My coworker called that day and they acted like a deer in headlights, they didn't even apologize. The following day I called because I was still not feeling well and was hoping they would make it right, possibly give us a refund. They argued with me and were extremely rude. Again no apology just trying to place blame. They would not let me speak to the owner, they told me to call their insurance company or the health department. Then they hung up on me when I was persistent in wanting to speak with the owner because the person on the phone said they were considered the manager.

CANT WAIT FOR THIS PLACE TO CLOSE!!! Called in, said “I would like to order a Pu Pu Platter”, woman on phone apparently misunderstood and thought I’d ordered two. Sadly I paid before noticing, but noticed as I was leaving from picking the food up. I explained to her I had not ordered two, she told me yes I did. I told this woman word for word what I said with her on the phone, tell me why this rude B!TCH wanted to argue and talk over what I’m saying so I can’t even speak. Food is MEDIOCRE at best, when it’s not getting people sick. Now we’re playing ignorant to charge people more.

I am amending my previous review of 4 stars. I have been coming to East garden in Randolph for about 4 years. There are many reviews here which rate the food quality, and service quite poorly, but that has never been my experience. Even with as busy as they get especially at dinner hours, the food I order is always hot and fresh. The folks there are generally friendly, I have never had a serious issue and if my order was wrong, or something was missing they’ve always fixed it promptly. The wait at the counter can get long, so be aware of that. The prices are extremely fair in my opinion…more affordable than others. There aren’t many other choices in the area. EGVT is one of my local go-to’s for a quick tasty meal, and personally I recommend them.

The service was excellent and the food was very good. Parking was tight. Sweet and Sour Chicken was tender and tasty, and the white rice was a tad bit dry. In all, the Valentine's Day dinner was a success. My opinion is to go and enjoy. The experience was well worth a small town Chinese restaurant.

Terrible experience! Waited a very long time for someone to take our order. Finally motioned to someone to please come take our order and they seemed shocked that we were there. They didn't take the order but went and got someone who finally did. The food came out staggered so the first item was getting cold by the time the last item arrived. Could never get anyone to refill our drinks. Not one service person smiled and the bathrooms were disgusting. The food did taste good, but it took an act of congress to get some "to go" boxes. This place used to be one of our family favorites but it has really gone down hill.

The food has changed within the past year and not for the better - I think there are new owners 😟 we have ordered 2 times in the past 2 months and it’s not good, food doesn’t taste good and not the same quality as before. The kid answering phone should be more pleasant and speak clearly. I do not recommend anyone go there, we won’t be going back.

0 stars if possible. Horrible food. Mist likely will receive food poisoning if you eat here. Very rude young man that answers the phone and takes your order. Even ruder in person. I highly recommend anything but this place for food in Randolph. I've had the nastiest food from them and tried to give them another chance and got sick again. This business should be investigated by the FDA and the VT better business bureau.... Please close your nasty "restruant"

The food is fresh and good. This is a small town so not many choice's. I do go back. The service is fast and very pleasant. Atmosphere is typical and clean. I feel price's are a bit high. Being a veggie I can eat here, no lard.

I order from here everytime I want Chinese. The food is filling and delicious, cooked just the way we all know and love. I especially love there beef lol mein and sweet and sour chicken omg amazing. I ordered 3 combo meals, 2 of the 3 meals were simply not the right thing. The sides were all pretty terrible albeit they were what we ordered. The guy seemed very nice in there. I’ve had good experiences there before, not today though.

Very large portions and food is cooked in a timely and reasonable manner. Food is also great and very good priced for the amount they give you. The service is great and the waiters will drop everything they are doing to come assist you.

Two words: CRAB. RANGOON. They are AMAZING HERE. The rest of the generous servings they have here are equally as delicious. Hard to find any other Chinese restaurants around within 25 miles that are as good as this one, and I'VE BEEN AROUND. Next place that even comes close is a buffet 30 minutes away. It's a regular stop for me when I visit Randolph.

I absolutely hate this place. Being as it's the only Chinese restaurant in Randolph I keep getting tricked into going there. Fried rice has nothing but your choice of pork, chicken or beef fat in the general tso's chicken is ALWAYS soggy, the sauce is also pretty different than any I've had before (not in the good way) only reason it got 2 stars instead of one is because it's not very expensive

I'm not one to give a bad review, but this was not good. The service was not so much the issue as was the food. I had general tso's chicken, my wife had the vegetable mo sho. She barely eat it. The fried rice had great potential, but feel flat. Maybe some roasted sesame seed oil our a dash of star anise would have done it, but I'm not sure. General tso's is supposed to be hot, but for the life of me I couldn't taste any red pepper. I'd give china jade a try first.

I make it a point to stop in when I'm in town. All I see is one kid answering the phone and take out window. He answers in a muffled east garden. Can't understand him. He told me 12.43 for my order at the shabby wooded off order window and I gave him a 20. He gave me back 7.50 and sent me on my way. UH HELLLOO. 20 Minus 12.43 is 7.57 not 7.50 too lazy to count 7 cents?? You just don't do that. If you are short on pennies you give back the next decimal higher not cheat the customer.

Small Town Chinese restaurant! Menu is comparable to most Chinese restaurants. The food is good, it's always hot, fresh, and tastes good. I've had a few requests to spice up a meal and they always are happy to accommodate!

This place is legit! Seriously, order extra, because you're definitely going to want leftovers! Don't let the confusing doorway dissuade you from coming in for some of the best food in this part of Vermont.
