Well, the bed was decent & clean, & it was fairly quiet...except that they allow pets & could hear a dog whimpering at night.Stains on the lampshades & rear see-through curtain like they've never been cleaned. Stains & cobwebs in the bathroom, & also more webs I noticed along the ceiling in the main room. No vent in the bathroom, so window needs to be open, which is tip-toe height to see into.Also, just checked the pricing, & even their own website says $85/night on a saturday, and we were charged a 'cheaper' rate for the handicap (we're not) room of I guess $110 instead of the $115.

The Putney Inn is a classic ski lodge vibe. Simple, clean and located soon off the highway. Very convenient and affordable. I did not like the wooded lockout door to next room. It only had a small turn lock to close door access to next room. As a single woman, I felt uncomfortable but soon fell asleep as I came in later night.Front desk agent was great. Very kind and quick check in. Loved the high slanted wood ceilings too.I would come here again.

This is a waypoint for us; we can't drive as far in a day as we did when we were younger. The rooms are older (stains, likely food, were noted on the carpet), but everything was clean and the bed sufficiently new. It would be nice if the rooms were reversed so that the main doors and sliding doors were on the opposite side of where they are now. There's a large parking lot on the sliding door side and a nice view on the other (main/front door). Haven't tried the free Continental breakfast, but it looks pretty minimal. We really liked the price versus the more upscale places we've stayed previously so will likely come here again.

Wonderful motel-like inn! My boyfriend and I stayed there when we drove my little sister back to college after spring break. It’s clean, nice, and quiet. Don’t expect a Hilton with a huge pool or game room. This is a good basic place to stay for a cheap price. The beds and towels were clean and bed bug free! We had a lovely little balcony and a nice big shower. They also serve breakfast in the mornings and the food is of good quality. The inn keeper and his staff keep everything neat and nice. Would definitely recommend staying here!Rooms: Very clean! Turn down service was amazing!Safety: Very safe!

Clean rooms, kindly staff and the place was wonderfully well lit for our return in the evening. I have stayed in a wide variety of places over the years; this was a lovely experience. Close to Brattleboro, VT and Keene, NH.I almost forgot to mention the towels were soft on the second use! They even have a self serve waffle iron for breakfast. Present ownership.

Very kind and accommodating owners, great price for the room. We loved staying out in the trees and appreciated that the doors of the motel face away from the road for privacy. Simple continental breakfast, but it was plenty for us! Only four stars because the rooms could use a little work/cleaning, but by no means did I feel it was unsanitary. Just dust collecting, obvious layers of paint on things that have been painted over, things like that. But it is definitely worth a stay if you're coming through the area!

The room is clean, staff is friendly, and it’s reasonably priced.Noteworthy details: If you like fishing, sailing, canoe, or kayaking, I’d recommend. There’s 2 boat landings on the Connecticut River about a 1 minute drive away, or a 5 min walk past a cornfield. Plenty to setbacks on the river and good for seeing beavers and bald eagles. The Inn is halfway between the dams Bellows Falls and Vernon and you have 25 miles of river and many small estuaries.

Family run, very clean, and very quiet. We slept great. They have pet friendly rooms which was what we were looking for traveling with two dogs. The place looks pretty unassuming when you first pull up, but it’s so nice on the inside. The rooms are remodeled and clean, we couldn’t hear other people or the plumbing, and the bedding was comfortable. It’s also very affordable and well worth the price we paid to stay there for a night. Have definitely made plans to stay here again if we travel through that way again and need a place to stay.

My husband, kids and I had to stay here one night after both of our vehicles broke down and we got stuck in the freezing cold weather for hour's. We had a tow truck come tow us and our vehicle here only for the man to tell me he would kick us out if my kids made any noise at all after all we had all already been through. We didn't even arrive here until 2 am and we're all ready for some rest. We had a horrible night as it was then to be told that was a little over the top. I would say it is not a very family friendly environment in my opinion. Won't ever go back.

Great rooms at an amazing rate!Owners are very nice and welcoming. The rooms are large and modern with a mini fridge, microwave and large flat screen TV. The outside is a little dated but the interior more than makes up for it. For the price you really cannot get any better in the area! I cannot emphasize that enough. There is a modest continental breakfast; cereal, bagels, toast, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice. There is no longer a restaurant on site. However, the Putney Food Co-op is right down the road and Exit 3 Brattleboro off 91 is less than a ten minute drive and has multiple fast food and casual dining restaurants, as well as a Hannaford Supermarket. I will be staying here for a week and will update once I see more of the property as I've heard there are walking trails and such. Parking is behind the motel, so while it looks empty from the front parking lot where the office is located it most likely is not. Again for the $ value I doubt you'd find a nicer motel in most any area really.

This place looks empty from the driveway front parking lot. The parking is in the back and they do take service dogs. The restaurant has been closed for sometime. This was on the auction block for $900,000 and some lucky buyer stole it for $130,000. This was 3 years ago. The rooms are good for the price. For a short trip its good. Grub hub delivers there.

Was very pleased to see the good looking room but not the cleanest room. Stayed two nights and then the morning of check out then horrific noise in the room next door was incredibly loud and after pounding on the way and yelling at the top of my lungs, nothing, nothing changed. This went on from about 9:50 am until just before leaving about 11:10 am. Then the noise was completely over. The maintenance didn't have to do this work while I was still in my paid room, because it only happened while I was still there. Tried to get some explanation from the two desk workers but was only brushed off and told me that it was just maintenance and that they were sorry??? I'll never return and also tell anybody, that this place was not up to standard. I'm now living in Vermont and now have family in Putney. Too bad for me as I was anticipating returning often for family visits. I'll have to find something else... Peter Hamlin

Very kind 24hr front desk concierge and was patient with our needs and wants. The double queen bed room on the second floor was beautiful and everything worked great. Very clean and quiet!! Me and my companion will definitely be back for more peace and quiet! Also a nice walk around the back yard! 🙂

Better than expected. Quiet, comfortable, reasonably priced. My only caveat is that coffee in the room is terrible--you kind of want to shave hour tongue after drinking it. Either bring your own individual coffee bags or instant. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed here from September to the end of October. I had a very pleasant stay here. The rooms are very clean and beautifully renovated. Big TVs and the beds are made up nicely. The owner is very nice. There was a power outage one night and the place has battery backup and he made sure everyone knew that he had contacted the electric company and they arrived got the power back on and all was well. I really recommend this Inn cause it’s right off the highway and has a restaurant and lounge on site. ~ Rich

Fun and welcoming environment. Owner us very nice. Rooms are very clean and look just like a hotel suite. Close to multiple mountains. Always busy. Breakfast is great and the lobby is very nice. All the rooms have been recently renovated. Overall, a great place to stay.

First of all this isn’t a three star hotel, it’s a motel. When we got there the conditions weren’t good. The wall above the ac unit is unfinished, the door between the ac unit and the bed (presumably to join rooms together) is a bit loose, and there was a badly damaged car (two flat tires, bumper and underside panels hanging, windows left open/completely broken) left in the parking lot. The tool room door and a circuit breaker board door were also left open. We didn’t feel entirely safe being there and left for another hotel.
