As a local who regularly dines at the restaurants on the islands, I was quite disappointed with the Mother's Day experience. The website didn't mention that there would be a $64 per person buffet, as we were expecting the usual menu. My wife, who has a gluten allergy, found only a few items she could eat. Personally, I never opt for buffets, so it felt like a significant waste of money. Instead, I had a Ceasar salad the size of square saucer.Swapping beer options monthly personally drives me crazy, especially when they previously had a few porters and stouts available.Consistency is key.

Highly recommended. Can't say enough about this place. Great location, great food, beautiful views, nice people, good value. Stayed in front, lake facing, room in the Homestead building. Lots of places to walk, sit, look at the lake, Will be back-for a longer stay.Food & drinks: Restaurant on site is great for breakfast and dinner. Wings were some of the best I've had in years. Breakfast, included with stay, was large and really excellent.

A nice winter getaway, fireworks and superb dining! Service was excellent and friendly. It's a fun place to spend two days watching the snow fall in mid Winter. All the house staff made us feel like being in the Newhart TV show! Entertaining and nice guests to socialize with!Rooms: Newly renovated and comfortable. Perfect for lazy late mornings. We brought our own Keurig to make coffee, and take in the incredible lake view! Fantastic walk in shower! Needs a love seat to relax in. Great TV set up with Netflix and movies. Stairs are steep though, not for the mobility challenged. Founded on late 1870s, it has a marvelous history.Food & drinks: Great dining and bar!Renovated and updated bar, four star dining, menu is very classy. Breakfast in our pj's was fun in the dining room.

Great restaurant up on one the islands in Lake Champlain. The dining area facing towards the lake was great atmosphere. The service was top notch and the menu was extensive. Highly recommend the chicken wings and the ribe eye dinner entree was very fulfilling.Food & drinks: Great restaurant up on one the islands in Lake Champlain. Absolutely stunning renovated hotel and restaurant. We booked on Airbnb and dined at the restaurant. Food was incredible, views were wonderful, attention to detail + decor was impeccable. The complimentary breakfast is HUGE and delicious (fresh blueberries, french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage!!!). 10/10 would stay again and would definitely dine here again. Extensive wine list with lots of French wines. Crème brûlée was delicious.

We spent 2 nights at the Inn (Sept. 23-24), and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the Pier Bar and the lake, with a huge screened porch. What a great view of the Green Mountains! Dinner was very good, and the family style breakfast was excellent! We also enjoyed the food (nachos) and cocktails at the Pier Bar, where Sean served up friendly conversation and recommendations about the area. What a great bartender! We will definitely be back!

My wife, myself, and our pup (Summit) stayed here for the weekend while we were in town for a wedding. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Our room was pet friendly, top floor, over looked the water with a terrific screened in porch. Our room looked newly renovated with beautiful décor and high end amenities touches that frankly I did not think I'd find this far north in VT! Additionally, our pup was greeted with a doggy welcome package of a blanket and treats. We had dinner in the restaurant Friday night - I had the Ribeye that was cooked and plated perfectly. My wife has a seafood scampi that was decent. Cocktail list was great too. The cocktails at the pier bar were fine, nothing too fancy, Great beer list and the food there I feel is what you'd expect at a pier style bar. The pier itself is incredible with shade covering, lots of seating, and a more casual hang out in the sun on the grass. Breakfast is included and was put together very well. Seemed more like a breakfast you would have at a high end resort.Overall, we will be back and were very happy with our stay.

This is by far my favorite place I have EVER stayed- and I’ve traveled to many places across the US! The area is gorgeous. This was my first visit to Vermont and the hotel is perfectly located- it’s on the waterfront, near a few small shops, a little on the secluded side but not far from Burlington at all. It’s not an overly busy area. The rooms are adorable and very cozy. I even had a rocking chair outside of my room! They have activities such as bike riding, yoga, and kayaks. They’ll even help you get set up with a bonfire. Plenty of areas to sit and look at the water. The complimentary breakfast is incredible, and their dinner is wonderful, too! The service is amazing- everyone is kind, attentive, and very welcoming. I drove all the way from Virginia to Vermont for my friend’s wedding, and I would do it all over again just to visit this hotel!

Be aware of dates for discounts, and get the confirmation in writing. Not all staff is aware of how the discount is applied. The rooms were adequate. The min split AC unit in our room was not effective on a very warm day. The rooms have little storage space and are quite dated. The free breakfast is excellent. The dinner at the main restaurant was disappointing. The food was overpriced for its low quality, and there was little detail to seasoning or plating. The staff was not particularly responsive. It seems like a place that fills tables, and a majority of rooms, so they just don’t care all that much. We will definitely not return, there are too many better options in the area.Noteworthy details: Not the best option in this area.

Our first night staying in Vermont we had dinner here. Some of the other places closed early and fortunately for us they were still open. We ordered two vegan salads and roasted chicken and the food was excellent. We ate at the bar and it was so nice to have an opportunity to talk with the bartender who had a great personality and gave us a lot of recommendations for places to go and made a fantastic bloody mary.

Just visited the recently renovated North Hero House, and it is a rare, magical place. Every detail is designed to delight and comfort and creates a nice nostalgia for simpler times. Beautiful flower boxes, creative landscaping, and bespoke decor welcomed us to the homey conversation room where we waited for our friends to arrive. Our dinner booth on the lakeside porch was comfy and roomy with perfect views of Lake Champlain. I wish I had taken a picture to share, because the atmosphere is perfect for comfortable conversation and peaceful thoughts. I am mostly plant-based so was thrilled with several options which all tasted fresh and were filling. Highly recommend the grain bowl, fried cauliflower appetizer, and chocolate cake with jalapeño ice cream. Our friends said that their duck and mussel entrees were perfectly prepared and flavourful. Can't wait to return to this magical island gem.Noteworthy details: Welcoming, creative, upbeat staff, very clean, great decor, happy.

Super obsessed with this spot. Truly one of the best views I've seen on the island. Very cool, interesting decor (see duck lamp). Our food was good. Our waiter was a little off-putting. He wouldn't come back with our requests, we had to remind me a few times for things like more utensils, water, other needs. He seem distracted and was chewing gum the whole time he waited our table. Truly seemed like a sweet guy but just uninterested in taking care of us or being there. Other wise nothing but good things to say!

Best dining experience in the Islands! We have been underwhelmed with the value of island dining options since moving here a year ago. The North Hero House Restaurant changed that. The quality, portions and service aligned with the prices. The view was incredible and the decor so fun! The food and drinks were a SOOOO good! Thank you, Kim and team, for the great service, food, and drinks, we will be back soon!

The restaurant and space has seen a vast improvement under new management. I ate the chicken with rosemary potato and it was. One of the most delicious things I’d eaten in a very long time. The previous owners were lovely but the food was sometimes hit and miss. So glad we decided to go back - and with the facelift and new decor it’s such a gorgeous space now too. Top notch!!

We had the best time at the North Hero House. We stayed in the homestead right on the water and the room was beautiful with a screened in porch. The dog had the best time of his life and the service was amazing - they really go out of their way to personalize the experience and make you feel at home. We can't wait to go back and highly recommend!

Just ate supper at North Hero House. My wife and twenty-six year old daughter literally had the best time. They had a delicious multi grain bowl and the other had a shrimp and lobster scampi too die for. I on the other hand had delicious dozen cold oysters for appetizer and for my entry.. a Pot Roast, veggies and mashed potatoes. My mother used to make this special for me. It was my birthday and the chef at North Hero House nailed. I couldn’t believe it was on the menu. Sooo delicious reminded me of when I was ten. I’m 65 today. The best chef and most amazing table service. Thanks again Jesse, Amber and Olivia.

Such an amazing time here! The food was so amazing (ordered the shrimp and lobster scampi and soo loaded with shrimp and big chunks of lobster, the accompanying bread was delicious), the service was great and everyone was so nice. Would highly recommend this for anyone in Vermont to swing by - gorgeous lake view and cozy but elegant space, quintessential perfect vermont experience ❤️Food & drinks: Delicious food! Had the oysters (delicious sauces to accompany), fried brussel sprouts, wings, and an amazing scampi - everything perfectly seasoned and great portions (had to take some home for later even)

We visited North Hero House in 2017 and since then new management has assumed ownership. They have done an excellent job making thoughtful investments to improve certain things that, frankly, needed some attention. The result is a truly enjoyable Inn that we will definitely return to. A special word should be mentioned about how friendly, courteous and kind the staff is; these are very nice people!Rooms: Rooms are small but have been recently refurbished. Small but very comfortable. Brand new bathrooms with rain head showers were a definite ‘plus’.Nearby activities: With a beautiful lake at your doorstep and French Canada just down the street, this is a perfect “off-the-beaten path” vacation for people looking to decompress and relax.Food & drinks: The food has always been basic New England fare and it has only gotten better since we were last here six years ago. The freshness of the vegetables is especially noteworthy.

Friday I ate dinner on the pier at the newly opened bar. The food was good and service was greatly improved from when I had been under the previous owner. The issue came when I ordered takeout muscles to bring home to my Significant Other. First they put them in a plastic container that leaked because it had holes in it, then they took them back and put them in a paper container lined with tinfoil. Finally I got them to put it in a plastic container without holes. They however didn’t put any extra sauce in them after leaking it everywhere. The muscles I brought home were practically inedible as they had absolutely no liquid in them at all & they started to dry up on the ride home. Definitely don’t recommend takeout from this place, they didn’t even have a soup container to put them in, despite having several soups on the menu, they used clam shell ones instead.

The North Hero Inn left a lasting impression with me and my wife. Everything from the location, to the room, to the restaurant and staff exceeded our expectations. We had never been to Vermont before and although, we were there for business, it made the trip so memorable. We intend on taking a trip back solely because of our stay here.Rooms: Absolutely immaculate. Very well done, clean, and everything we wantedFood & drinks: We went to the Restaurant for dinner and our meals were to die for. We enjoyed every bit of the meals we ordered and the staff was excellent

This Inn is great. I enjoyed spending time here. We stayed in a room with an amazing view of the lake. It was so nice to just be in the room and I didn't feel like I was wasting my stay by staying in the hotel because of the view. It was very hot one of the days we were there and it was so nice to just walk down the the beach that you could see from our room. It was so convenient for all of the houses. They have kayaks and paddleboards available for everyone staying there to take out on the water. Our room was very nice we stayed in the Way Suit, which had two rooms that connected one with a king bed and the other with a trundle bed. This was great for a family of 4. The bathroom was a bit small for all of us but it was nice that they had a full-length mirror in the walk-in closet. I will definitely say that my favorite part of the whole experience was the breakfast buffet that they had available each morning. Everything tasted amazing and we always went back for seconds. The staff was all very nice during our stay and I will say that they can change the experience of the whole trip. Overall, I gave it 4 stars because there were some flaws in the room such as the shower pressure being quite low which makes it difficult to shower and it would be helpful if there were more towel bars in the bathroom. They do allow dogs and animals in the rooms, at least we had a nice dog in the room next door which was very quiet. Definitely will keep in mind to go back if we stay in VT again.
